They were big, great tasting and the price was pretty damn good compared to some others. Tucked away right at the end of the Esplanade, this little shop is probably in need of a facelift one of these days, but it delivered the goods for us. It seems a lot of other ex-festival people had the same idea and decided to escape the crowds and have some seafood by the sea shore. While it was super busy at the Pelican's Nest and all the outdoor seating was taken, we ventured inside to find there were no queues and we could order straight away (no 5 mins waiting in line!). We ordered the 'Treasure Chest', were given a buzzer and went outside to wait. Food was ready in under 10 mins and we decided to take away our food and walk over to the esplanade and sit in the park to enjoy our feast. The food was delicious - fish was super fresh and flaked away nicely. We also really enjoyed the prawn cutlets - nicely butterflied and cooked to perfection. I also really like the fact that the meal came with a proper side salad. All in all it was a lovely meal, and was definitely the highlight of today - after the disappointment of the festival.

Average was $17 each for a calamari and chips, a cod fish n chips, and a whole fried sea bream. Food was hot and fresh and for a take-away place, it was decent. Best part is the park across the street leading towards the Wynuum jetty. You can choose to have your food take-away and eat at the end of the pier.

They have been featured on A Current Affair and their regular 'Hottest Burger' eating challenges create a storm of You Tube clips and Facebook photos. I am regularly in the area and I can always tell when some poor brave soul is attempting the burger, the sounds you hear are hilarious. It is a great place to go if you are looking for a quality meal, rather than takeaway chips like I normally do. They do not have a huge menu, something I actually like because it usually means they do the few items really well rather than a huge number of things to an average standard. Prices…read moreare pretty standard and I haven't found one shop that's a stand out for value, though there are others at the Manly end of the strip that are definitely dearer. Cod's always cheap but but respectable, or you can pay two or three dollars more for whiting, snapper or other reef fish. Opposite a nice part of the foreshore, it's so good to grab a paper wrapped bundle of fish, chips and potato scallops and head for the grassy strip under the pine trees across the road. You'll be far enough away from the wading pool and kids playgrounds to find some peace and quiet, yet close enough to go for a nice stroll out along Wynnum jetty to work a few of those chips.

It was tasty, not over salty, not over grilled and dry... it was moist and it was fresh. The meat was bouncy yay! The crumbed cod was your average fair, but it was still good and the calamari rings were very very good. They weren't too huge and they weren't over deep fried and too crispy. They were fresh and they were cooked just right. And we order them all the time at other fish and chip places... these ones stood out as well. The servers are really gracious and friendly, and I prices are the same as your usual fish and chips. If you're in Manly, go check them out, best I've tasted in a while!
