We'd been there 4-5 yrs ago when under other management and it wasn't worth returning, but we went back today because it was close and found out it was a new owner and had a new menu. Now they have a large selection of salads, and veggie omelets with things like fresh zucchini, avocado, and spinach, and wonderful Benedicts with made-on-the-spot Hollandaise sauce with a touch of hot zing to it. Plenty of food for the money. Nice booths all around and plenty of room for 2 or 4 per booth. Fresh crispy muffins with jellies on the table and they bring you a bowl of creams when you get hot or iced coffee, no having to flag the waitress for more. Excellent service and very personable help. Not sure about weekend crowding, but at Noon on a weekday, there's ample seating without waiting, Red potato home fries, done nice and crispy, and poached eggs on a bed of greens. Tasty and filling. We ordered M&M pancakes (3-stack), french toast special (nutella, blueberries, and strawberries on challah bread), and omelet (with linguica, mozzarella, green peppers, olives). With a coffee, tea, and chocolate milk, our total bill came to $35+. Food presentation needs help, but it tasted fine except for the omelet; it was too salty. Location was great. Off-street parking was not a problem on a Sunday morning at 8:30. The main reason we will not be returning is the extremely slow service. We were one of three customers and it took a while to get our order in. There were three waitstaff, one in training. One was working hard while the other two stood behind the counter/cash register. Went there on Memorial Day morning with the family. It was busy and it looked like no one was eating. It didn't take long to figure out they had no waitstaff. People began to leave. The owner came out to apologize that his waiter didn't show up. We got coffee and menus and played games to pass the time. The food was worth the wait. This is a diner. I don't go to diners for the decor. I go for the food and pricing. As for breakfast, my usual is scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage, and 1 pancake. If the place throws in toast, bacon and home fries, all the better. This place does all that for $11 (the House Spectacular). And everything tasted great and was not super greasy, as in they didn't cook in lots of oil. Diner food tends to be greasy due to the nature of the food itself, but I appreciate when they don't add to it. My husband got a Portuguese Benedict and it was awesome. I met a friend here for breakfast and picked this place as it was 1/2 way. The food and coffee were really good, but the service was the best I have ever experienced. Nice little spot here. The food is pretty standard for breakfast/brunch selections and you could find whatever you prefer whether you are a meat lover, vegetarian, or somewhere in between. From the moment I walked in the door, the waitress was friendly and willing to accommodate my specific dietary needs. Simple menu, classic offerings. Intimate atmosphere makes it feel like home. I got the veggie omelet with whole eggs, fruit cup on the side (good fruit! Berries and bananas. Not just honeydew and cantaloupe like everywhere else-yuck). The meal was great, but omelet a little small compared to other places in this area. I was a little disappointed they unknowingly charged for fruit in place of home fries and toast, so I paid literally 13.90 for an avg size omelet, fruit, and coffee. Just had a yummy lunch at their Natick location. Love the selection. The spicy thai chicken wrap was perfectly spicy and generous. Steak fries were good and loved the pickle. The egg salad was freshly made and delicious. Service is not quick and I think that's ok. I like to take time and relax. If I want fast food I'll go to Wendy's. Pleasant surroundings and clean. Downtown Framingham may not always look so great, but if you can find a place to park, the Frescafe is a good place to eat. The place is nice and clean, and not very busy. This is one the best brunch options in the area. We have gone here several times and never regretted it. They have great omelettes for me, unique Benedict's for the wife and decadent pancakes for the little one. A couple of the waitresses to make a big deal of my son and he loves the attention. Given the quantity and relatively high ratings in the reviews here, I had hoped to enjoy a nice breakfast. While the server was pleasant and competent, the dish I ordered didn't meet even basic expectations. I had ordered the apple crisp pancakes because I'm a huge fan of the dessert. My mouth began salivating when I came across the item on the menu; the thought of tender, warm apples mixed perfectly with cinnamon and raisins in a pancake sounded delicious. As I started to dig in, I was struck by the fact that not only were the apple chunks raw, but that they were of the red delicious variety (a type I dislike). If there was cinnamon in them, I didn't taste it. And the raisins added nothing to the mix. The coffee was good and the server was always there when I needed a refill. We came in pretty late and ended up finishing our brunch after closing time and the sweet waitress didn't rush us and was as kind as can be.
