I politely mentioned that we had an 8-hour drive ahead of us and needed to grab something quickly - should we just come back again some other time? Then he unleashed a tirade about how terrible business has been, how awful customers are, how unreliable his staff are, and how he plans to close up shop as soon as his lease ends. When I mentioned I'd once lived in Armidale he said that obviously I hadn't lived there for a long time because I'd know that nothing opens until 8 am.
