Went for the restaurant week. There were 4 courses with first course being shared cheese plate, crackers, eggplant spread, fig jam, etc. Appetizer was tomato soup - it was so salty. The cheese bread was also salty. Catfish was ok. The side of corn was frozen corn so it's too chewy for me. Banana pudding was great. But by the dessert time, I was so full. Portions were huge! Service was a bit slow. Server didn't fill water even though the bottle was empty. Had to find street parking which wasn't that difficult around dinner time.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool vibes outside if you can handle the heat in the summer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside looked really cool but they didn't have any music playing so it felt like a library![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got an espresso martini but wanted tequila instead and the up-charge was crazy ($15 for the espresso martini, which is normal, but then an added $7 for tequila!). If I was getting charged the normal price, then where's the shot of vodka that wasn't in the drink: I would have given that to somebody in my party. Anyway, I'd go again, jut would order the expensive stuff.

Was visiting Philadelphia and came across this restaurant for my research into GLUTEN FREE RESTAURANTS. They have a gluten free hot chicken sandwich. When I told the server I was gluten free he told me all of the substitutes and what I could eat. Which I appreciated. Apparently the restaurant is mostly gluten free anyway which I loved. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The night we went they had a salsa night with a live band which was super cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I could tell that in the summer it would be a great place to sit outside. It's on the water and right across from a pier.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hot chicken sandwich really changed my life and was HUGE! My friend got the empanadas and he loved that too. I felt like the server was awesome. I wish I remembered his name but he was chill and my friend and I were just hanging out for a while even after we paid.

The food was great. The service was so good. Our server showed us so much attention even though the place was busy. The view of the bridge from the bar was amazing..

Went to Fringe Bar today for brunch and overall I enjoyed it! The donut appetizer (5/10) took longer than it should have to come out and it really had no flavor at all until you add the Dulce de leche sauce. It was ok wouldn't get it again. I ordered the Chicken Biscuits (6.5/10) and that was pretty tasty. I also got a side of pancakes (7/10) that was pretty good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the aesthetic of the restaurant and how it overlooks the Ben Franklin Bridge, pretty cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd def go back maybe at night to try dinner. Service was good as well.

Fringe bar only has happy hour on Thursday nights from 5pm-9pm so of course I had to stop by after work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I arrived around 5:30pm and there was maybe 5 other people at the bar but by 7pm the restaurant and bar was full of people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Music is playing and it is not too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They appeared to be setting up for some live music but I left before the live music started.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have $3 mini martinis! For food I ordered the egg fried rice (10/10) lemon pepper wings (7/10) beef sliders (10/10) build a fry( 9/10) and mini Caesar salad (10/10). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great atmosphere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great food and drinks! Along with Great Prices!

I went to Fringe Bar for brunch and stayed fit the NFC Conference Championship game. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The environment, energy, and service was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The chicken was good but the biscuits, not so much. The breakfast potatoes were basic.

They slapped 20% auto-gratuity on the subtotal AND the sales tax. !!!!!

The wings were solid--good heat, crispy. But the real problem: they slapped 20% auto-gratuity on the subtotal AND the sales tax. Nowhere on the menu says that. Manager told me 'that's how the computer is set up'--no apology, no fix. I zeroed it out on the receipt, but they still ran my card with the full amount. That's not service, that's a scam. Philly deserves better.

I checked out Fringe Bars all day happy hour and man was I impressed. The food was delicious and well priced. I liked the falafel sliders a little more than the beef. The cheese dip is great and they came with more crackers when we ran out. The mini martinis were so fun. I had six for $18 and was feeling pretty drunk. I will say though the garnishing was very hit or miss with them. For example, only 3 of my six cosmos came with a lime and only 2 of my friend's manhattans came with a cherry. I don't think that's a big deal though. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a GREAT spot for larger groups. I was one of six and all the food came out properly to each person.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]More importantly, the music wasn't too loud that we couldn't hear each other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were sat on the balcony which was very aesthetic and fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For being pretty busy, I don't have any complaints about the service. Fringe bar will 100% be added to the list of places I recommend. I can see myself going back!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]PS for those who care about the bathroom, it's very clean and the stalls leave no gaps. It's gender neutral, so everyone is in there. There are several stalls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We went here before meeting up with some friends in Old City. We had a 10/10 experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't too busy when we went so perhaps we got more attention.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But we had an amazing conversation with the bartender/server, who made us delicious drinks that were not officially on the menu. He also had excellent drink recommendations. We also ordered the empanadas to snack on. They were large and packed with so much flavor. The empanada dough was crunchy and flaky. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside of the building is also pretty with really high ceilings and plenty of space for both dining and drinking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I look forward to coming back if Im in the area.

Here for jazz night on 1/14. I gotta say. The service is kinda slow but I understand if they are weeded. No worries. The food however, over seasoned and underwhelming. The gumbo is very cayenne forward and not much else. They give you a splash of rice and the roux taste overdone. The shrimp cocktail is not amazing. The cocktail sauce taste more like katchup. Not much horseradish in it. The wings are also just spice or peppery and not much of a flavor profile. The Brie cheese is cut super chunky and not ideal for the crackers they come with. My friends couldn't even enjoy the tuna. It just wasn't enjoyable. Overall, the food is super duper mid. But the entertainment is superb. That is all.

Huge bar, giant wall of liquor bottles, dim lighting, and a cool old-school vibe. I told the bartender that ordering a beer in a place like this felt like I was insulting him. He laughed and told me not to worry about it. The drink special was called "Naked and Famous," which honestly sounded like the perfect cocktail to order in honor of Jen. But then I spotted a dark beer on the menu that sounded too good to pass up. If you follow me, you know I'm slowly becoming a dark beer guy. I liked it a lot. The sandwich special was a cheesesteak. Sorry, I should've taken a picture of the menu. But I really enjoyed it, and for $18 it came with a mountain of seasoned fries, which feels like a bargain these days. Bomb Shell: the two people working absolutely crushed it. I don't know if they were understaffed or if Monday night got busier than expected, but they were working their tails off the entire time. Even with that, they stayed polite, friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating to the guy carrying around a mannequin. Great visit to Sassafras!

Honestly - I wanted to love this place, but it didn't hit all the way home for me. What it did hit home for me were the vibes. I loved the interior decor, the small homey vibes , and I could feel the love and passion that went into this place. Small inside, cozy, and I think I only saw a total of 3 staff that ran the place. I really wanted to love them! To be perfectly honest, I'm probably not the best reviewer for this spot. I eat 80% vegan .. and cannot not remember the last time I had beef prior to this meal. However - I didn't find it to be particularly mind blowing. It was cooked to a good temperature , served with salt for you to tailor to your taste and oh I can't forget to mention how much I loved the chefs homemade hot sauce ( which they do sell on site ! ) it was solid , but not something I was personally blown away by for $90 and not something I'd "cheat" on my diet for again to eat. I felt similarly about the striped bass. It was cooked well, but I found it under seasoned. Overall, I don't think it's the spot for me but I DO think it's the spot for many. I definitely recommend you check out this small humble restaurant and give them a shot. It's beautiful and warm inside, and you can feel the love in this establishment Check out Elwood!

If you haven't had Pennsylvania Dutch food, etc. it's definitely worth going to Elwood to experience a great execution of this style. The menu is always changing, but expect large portions meant to be shared, so we always prefer going with large groups. We've had almost every dish on their menus so it's hard to go back and reflect on all of them, but definitely start with the pierogies, get your meat of choice, and order the funnel cake for dessert. You can't really go wrong!
