I just had my hair cut here for the first time and had a great experience. The place was bustling and had an air of excitement but was also comfortable. My stylist was Kelley and she was awesome! Very easy to talk to, attentive to detail, and thoughtful. She even washed my hair again after the cut so I didn't have bits of hair all over me! She seems knowledgeable and at ease at the chair. She herself has cute hair, so I felt confident trusting her with my locks. She blew my hair out well. She mentioned that if when I style it curly I find any issues I can let her know and she'll fix it! I'll update here if things go wrong with my curly hair. But, I look super fabulous great today and my husband said he didn't recognize me, so that's saying something! I find this jewel a few months ago- it came highly recommended from a client of mine. I booked with Carrie B. She really listened to what I needed. I got a complete color change, going from blonde to a rich brunette root that seamlessly transitioned into caramel balayage. She's a wizard with color AND cuts! I opted for a trim, and she showed me a few tricks with styling my usually frizzy and unmanageable hair. I am so happy with how my hair turned out!!!!!!!!! Ana has been doing my hair for over a year now and I seriously can't say enough good things about her. Listen: I went from serious red, to serious blonde. She made that happen! I rocked it for a year and just went back red. (What can I say- red is good on me) Not only did she not murder me for going back, but she made me look amazing every step of the way. Jimmy is one of the best stylists I have ever had. Not only is he super talented, but Jimmy is also very warm and easy to talk to. He has this amazing ability to understand exactly what you are looking for and meld it with his technical expertise. I decided on Fringe based on the great reviews. Courtney cut my hair and I'm very pleased. She listened and gave me what I asked for. I'm sure I scared her with my haircut horror stories. I would have let her cut another two or three inches off ...but too little is better than too much when it comes to hair. I'll give her more freedom next time because I know I can trust her. She was also 'down to earth' friendly and excellent conversation. (New in town) I also asked Courtney and the owner of Fringe for recommendations on other places/services I needed to find. I followed the advice and ended up at a great happy hour spot in the Pearl. Now, I know they really did 'get me and my style'. I just moved to Portland from LA and I didn't have my hair done in over a year because I'm very picky on who does my hair but I looked this place up and got an appt with Dustin the next day! I'm so happy with my hair. He was such a sweetheart, very kind, and helpful. It came up to $150 and I had only planned on spending $130 but he did such an amazing job that I didn't mind paying extra. So, I went and saw Ana for the first time back in August (the delay in writing this due to new motherhood and lack of sleep/time/sanity, etc.) After all the great reviews I read I was confident she would do an excellent job and I was not disappointed! Please don't go to this hair salon if you are any shade of brown and trying to go back blonde. I made an apt with Dustin after much research and this place seemed amazing but I can say it was probably the most horrific experience at a salon that I have ever had. I'm naturally a dark/lightish blonde and for the past year I've done a light brown. well, spring is here and I decided I wanted my lighter look back and planned to spend a pretty penny to get it back to that shade. I also knew it wasn't going to happen over night but had no clue that what happened would. Whatever Dustin did to my hair basically made it look a worse shade of brown than it was, with literally one streak of blonde on it. I looked like legit trailer trash. it was obvious he panicked and just said that we should bring it back brown. after 3+ hours at the salon I left with a darker shade than I arrived in. I felt truly disrespected by Dustin throughout the process, acting like 'everything was okay' when it was clearly not. I'll praise the salon in the fact that they didn't even ask me to pay, and though I left with my hair nothing like I wanted, it was a pretty shade of brown that I left with. They made it right in the end but DO NOT go here if you're dark trying to go light. read more
