    Although our first tour of Oslo was generally unmemorable, we did stop by this church where I was…read morequite taken with how half of it looks like an entirely different church. The bottom half was a church in it's own right, however when they decided to expand the bricks used were no longer available so they went with a different seller, thus why there's a sharp divide in coloration between the bottom and top. The small bump in one corner that looks entirely out of place is actually a piece from two entirely separate churches. Said piece outlived both being burned down and now calls this eclectic patchwork church home. We were told by our guide it's a very Norwegian thing not to waste and to re-use building materials from other projects - you can see an example of this in the art piece She Lies which is made from leftover Opera House materials. All in all it's a quite interesting architectural spot, so I'd recommend walking by if you're in the area.

    Compared to other European (and other) cathedrals/churches I have visited, this one is very unique…read more The ceiling is covered with a colorful and beautiful mosaic depicting numerous Biblical scenes (both OT and NT). It also contains an enormous and beautiful organ, along with a large altar. All of the artifacts and decor here work very well together, and the building is beautiful. One recommendation I have is to check out the QR codes. They give you a great description and historical context of the different scenes in the church, and you can learn a lot from them.
