You can enjoy time on the grounds followed by eating outside. On my last visit I came right at opening so I could get seated right away. The menu has a good mix of traditional brunch fare and unique menu items. This visit I ordered the baked oatmeal and a cappuccino. Since it was early and not crowded the food came out quickly. The baked oatmeal was the best oatmeal I have ever had. The coffee was good too. I've been to this location a few times and will continue to revisit in the future.

I got a Marzipan Matcha latte and it was delicious! Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. I'm sure I've had her before. I got the Swedish meatballs which I always get cause I love the sherry cream sauce they out in it. It's so good. My partner got the smoked trout Benedict and he really liked it. Great portion sizes and fun flavors. Not the everyday breakfast Americans are used to. We also shared the Ebelskivers with lemon curd and jam. Those are always good and you have to get them when you go there. The one we went to was in the Scandinavian community center and it has a really nice clean vibe to it. It has large windows so there so much light. They have a little store in the building that you can browse around while you wait. It's a great place if you're down for something different for breakfast.

Hostess called the wrong 'Sarah' after waiting 50 minutes for a table, which is fine, mistakes happen, except she forgot to put us back on the waitlist which meant we had to wait even longer for a table. When we finally got seated for breakfast, we were told the kitchen was a little backed up so it would take a little longer than normal for food - we waited over an hour for our food to come, and no one came to provide us with an update until we asked for it. We stopped in for brunch around 10:00 on a Friday morning and didn't leave until almost 1:15 after waiting to be seated then waiting for our food. I will add, the Denver omelet (vegetarian with fried tofu instead of ham) was really good! We also loved the strawberry scones and chocolate chip cookies. Like I said - I would come back to grab some pastries and a coffee, but probably would not recommend this place to eat.

The breakfast here (I haven't had brunch or lunch) is good, down home diner food, which has it's own atmosphere, like film noire. I'm an egg for breakfast guy and they do eggs beautifully. So the food is mucho satisfying but the folks who work there (and in the 41st and Fremont one) are friendly and funny and professional in the most laid back way. It's Portlandia done right. I'm also an artist, and they let me hang my little collage, which is actually entitled "Breakfast Down at the Neighborhood Diner" on the a wall by the counter, so don't forget to take a look at it. It's pretty good, if I do say so myself. Beware, parking in the Hawthorne District is hairy.

My partner had French toast with salad. The bendictos were amazing. I chose savory over sweet 10 times out of 10 and this was so good. The biscuit had a a bit of crunch, the eggs were perfect and I licked the plate clean. I added a bit of the house made hot sauce to the potatoes. My partner's French toast looked good and they had a salad as the side. The salad was incredible. I wish I had ordered it instead of the potatoes. It consisted of mixed greens and hazelnuts topped with poppy-seed dressing. So good!

They have gluten free bread in a separate toaster that doesn't fall apart and was delicious in a breakfast sandwich. They have gluten free waffles that are definitely on our list next time to try. Biscuits Cafe is definitely the best breakfast we've had in a long while. We needed a new place for gluten free breakfast since iHop stopped serving gluten free pancakes. The kitchen is out in the open to watch them cook the food and they even have a dedicated biscuit warmer. The biscuits were the best I've ever had! Flaky and melt in your mouth, especially with the fresh jam and whipped butter! They played good music and the staff was super friendly and immediately sat us. Our server was Jose A. B, he gave me his opinion between two menu options and I went with the Hash and Eggs. The red potatoes were seasoned great. It was a bit expensive for two at $54.76 but we tipped 25% on-top of it due to the level of service. The price makes sense due to the speed and taste of the food and the friendliness of the staff. We're definitely coming back in the future.

My server was busy with a large table next to me. One of his fellow servers saw my "I need caffeine" face and came over. Since it was several minutes with no acknowledgement from my server, I ordered as I got my coffee. My meal came out quickly. Crab cake Benedict was meh. I had to get my own tableware. A man from "Corporate" saw this and apologized. After that, no one checked on my meal. No one offered my a coffee refill. "My" server offered a box for my potatos but never came back with the check. I asked for the corporate guy, but was told another manager would be with me shortly. She quickly comped my meal and apologized. She is the regional mgr. I offered my contact info, which she took to call me later. Nothing since then. I visit Portland annually and was always curious about this place. Now I'm not.

But one bite in and it was clear it hadn't been warmed. When I mentioned it wasn't fresh, the staff defended it saying it was made the night before. Exactly my point -- if it was made the night before, warm it up. Even Starbucks does that. It was dense, cold, and not enjoyable at all. The coffee I ordered extra hot, and it wasn't. Within a few sips it was already lukewarm. That's a basic request that should be easy to get right. The atmosphere is okay visually, but it's packed with laptop workers and there's barely any space to sit and relax. People treat this place like a co-working space and give you stares if your kid makes any noise. It's a coffee shop, not a library or an office. And the tip screen before you even taste anything? Hard pass on that concept. I carry cash and I tip based on actual experience -- that's how it should work. Service was polite but dismissive when there was a real complaint. Probably won't be back.

The Mocha ($6.50 for 16oz) is way too sugary for my taste, but still tastes good, consider getting water to wash it down. The pastries are brought in daily and made by Jenn. And we tried only the Croissant ($6) and the Spinach & Ricotta Lattice Pastry ($7) but these were much better than the freshly made Avocado Toast ($9.50), even though the avocado was ripe and the toast was good, however it was missing salt or whatever seasoning to make it as good as the other pastries. SERVICE Super fast and super friendly . One thing is having a decoration that calls for inclusion, but having a team that represents it, that's gold. ENVIRONMENT Loved how easy it's to find the counter with all supplies, and the decor is simple, yet inviting. It's an inclusive decor, but subtle. Bottom line: Definitely a place I'd like to come back to!
