I am an adult amateur who participated in 4-H saddle clubs for 10 years as a child and recently came back to horses after a 15+ year break. Frontenac Farm is perfect for my needs: a trainer/owner who cares and provides positive reinforcement with both the horses and her pupils, a staff that is knowledgable about horse care and promptly communicates anything out of the ordinary, and a group of boarders who enjoy horses and each other's company.
The barn is the cleanest, neatest, safest facility I have ever seen. The floors are vacuumed daily and the water buckets are dumped and cleaned regularly. The horses are fed on schedule and have daily turnout. Both the indoor and outdoor arenas are dragged weekly, free of debris with solid footing, and are minimum 20m x 60m.
In addition to providing a well run, orderly facility, Frontenac's location is also ideal. Five minutes north of i90 off of 31, the property sits across the street from Jelke Creek Bird Sanctuary, a public park with well-maintained horse-friendly trails.
Frontenac Farm has become a second home to me and my family. The boarders are friendly and genuinely care about each other and the horses' well-being. A variety of activities are coordinated throughout the year, from an annual IDTCA dressage and combined training show to clinics featuring certified judges and trainers, to the end-of-summer fun day and a fall Halloween party, each ending with a robust potluck. I work in a stressful, corporate office more than 50 hours a week with frequent travel; having a safe, warm, drama-free environment at the barn, knowing my horses are kept safe at all times keeps me happy, healthy, and sane.
I am learning the basics of correct dressage training and frequent the local trails; Frontenac Farm is versatile and welcoming to all disciplines. I recommend Frontenac Farm to others with needs similar to my own. read more
