If you have ever watched Miami or London Ink this place has a similar vibe. Tattoo books are available to gain some inspiration and there is a folio fixed to the wall that has a mixture of design work. The shop is very much a clicky cultural experience, whether you have a tattoo or are thinking about getting one Physical Graffiti can create the artwork all you have to provide is the inspiration. As with a number of tattoo specialist you can expect to have a consultation, the artist will draw up some designs and resize the sketches to create you design, you will then be booked in for a session or more depending on the level of detail in the art. Physical Graffiti also has a shop on Richard street on the 5point junction where city road meets Albany road. This parlour has a white sterile look like a doctors surgery with very comfortable black leather chairs to relax in while you wait.

It was opened in the summer of 2006 by Chris Hatton, a tattoo artist with a considerable reputation for his custom tattoos. His objectives were clear; he wanted to "create a hygienic, friendly tattoo shop that prides itself on good customer care and a very high standard of work". There is no doubting that he has realised his aims. The majority of tattoos performed at Physical Graffiti are custom designed to meet the client's own specifications, but there's also a variety of flash in the shop to provide inspiration. (It is also possible to buy flash either from the shop or by mail order from the website). They also provide a fully licensed laser tattoo removal service that is and performed by highly trained staff. The treatment procedure and all other information can be found in the laser removal section of the website. There's also a quirky side to the business that I really like. They stock a range of tattoo related merchandise which includes t-shirts, bags, wallets and purses as well as custom painted shoes featuring tattoo related designs. They will also create shoes to your personal specifications. How good is that!?!

They deal in gothic clothing, incense, jewellery, tarot and smoking paraphernalia. Many of their products I simply do not understand. To cut a long story short, it's the kind of place your grandmother shudders to think about you going into alone. The staff here are often rude, and give you quizzical looks should you not be wearing black which is blacker than the night. Or a band t-shirt; that might do. I've little more to say on this place really.

I on the other hand have never really been "got" this place, and share Tiffany and Tanya's sentiments that it is both dingy and grotty. As mentioned the staff are rather rude, and I get the impression that they're trying to come across as intimidating to those who aren't their mirror images (don't worry they fail). They sell a lot of "hippyish" items such as dream catchers and bongs. I will point out that they do have a large selection of alternative jewellery, which is quite hard to come by in Cardiff shops, if you're not in the know. So for that I'll give them 2 stars rather than 1.

Cardiff Ink has been around since 1983, which is some achievement! But not only that... it is also one of the best advertisements a tattoo parlor can have! I know at least half a dozen people that have had their tats done here (now that's my kind of 'math'!), all of whom wouldn't even dream of going anywhere else. (I'm sure hairdressers and make-up artists would appreciate the same kind of loyalty that people afford their tattooist!) Cardiff Ink have also been body piercing for about fifteen years as well. Their pricing is competitive, with a blanket price of £18.00. I have my nose pierced and my ears in four places, and so I'm maxed out on this front. I'm a little too long in the tooth for having my belly button done... but if I ever relented, i know where I'd come to get it done! I wonder if they are going to put out a sign saying 'No Pets' after the recent scandal in the news? I hear that someone is going to be prosecuted for the piercing of that poor little puppy... but what about the parent s that pierce their babies...? Don't the toddlers of the world deserve some 'chav' protection too?!?
