Do you remember…read morethe rather lacklustre looking spot just after The Fenton en route into town, around the corner from the mini police door? (Next to the uni car park.) Well, that has finally said goodbye, and Café Jojo has sprung up in its stead. I noticed this place sometime in December, as I was heading in to do some Christmas shopping. I'd logged it to try, seeing the magic words 'coffee and bubble tea', but didn't get a chance to stop in until now. Inside it's fine -- clean, a good amount of seating (for the quirky shape of the building), and pleasant enough. It feels pretty uninspiring/sans personality inside insofar as it could be any standard coffee shop; there's not a lot screaming what they're about, is what I'm saying. But, that doesn't matter if the offerings are good, amiright? So, I can't tell you about the food as I didn't try any. I think there were sandwiches, cakes, and other usual suspects... But I can tell you about the bubble tea! And be honest, that's why you're reading this, no? Sadly, my favourite flavour (taro) had run out when I got there -- but that's positive, as it means people are buying it. (Therefore, I hope, they've a chance at making it.) Instead I went matcha green tea, as I'm all about the milky bubble teas. If you're not, don't worry; Jojo has innumerable options for you, including things like mango and lychee! I really want to try the lemongrass next from the milky range. If you're more in a tea or coffee place, you can avail yourself of chai lattes, hot chocolates, herbal teas, coffee, and a range of special teas (which I'm assuming are loose leaf) like rose oolong and more. I really have to come back and get my tea on. So, how was the bubble tea? Served by a really lovely lady who was totally friendly, quickly made (we got take out), and totally delicious. It was warm, which I've not had before (most have either been chilled or made with ice) but this didn't bother me. I guess the tapioca could have been a bit softer, if I were to be picky, but it was perfectly sweet and delicious. You know I'm coming back to try the whole range. I might even walk there for lunch, because BUBBLE TEA! A fab place and definitely worth a look.

It was my first time coming across a preserved egg (or century egg) puff pastry at any Chinese bakery - it was pretty good, with a piece of preserved egg inside the pastry. They have a pretty diverse menu and you can customize the ice and sugar levels to your liking. I got the matcha milk tea with boba and I was pretty happy with the consistency of the boba here. It was soft and chewy, just the way I like it. The milk tea was mixed well and provided a good refreshment for a long walk! Unfortunately, they didn't have Wintermelon tea when we came. I ordered the Black Sesame Tapioca Milk Tea and I appreciate that it already came with boba. At first, I thought the drink was a bit too sweet for my taste but after mixing in the sesame, the drink got much better. I really love how thick the sesame flavor was and I appreciate that you can taste all the sesame seeds to it. Beyond the milk tea, I really appreciate the decorations in the milk tea shop down to the printed shiba and logo name on the straw. Also the cover for the milk tea was actually so cute. One bun at a time. This little bakery tucked into an old arched building has nothing but freshly baked goodies (a few savoury snacks too like pasties) and for that we love them. I've never tried the bubble tea myself but friends have raved about it - they have all different flavours so it is definitely on my to do list. But I can tell you that their cakes with cream, fresh fruit, things like that are so so delicious. The prices, whilst steeper than a donut in Greggs, are still pretty good for what you are getting so don't let this put you off.

If you see people queuing they are probably in the hot food queue and so cold food only people should nip round to the right for the sushi/cold drinks queue. What they have here that I think Brum does not is bubble tea! I tried the matcha which wasn't the best ever but still am impressed to have it in a takeaway place and as ever really do think Wasabi is very decent quality and consistency for a takeaway restaurant. I always get the rainbow selection and a pink mochi and always enjoy!
