Leith isn't the kind of place where you're likely to catch scurvy. The area has an abundance of little fruit and veg. shops, all selling a standard selection of exotic imported items and local, seasonal produce.
If I'm passing by, I always have a gander at what's on offer at Fruit Heaven on Great Junction Street. During summer you can get criminally cheap punnets of strawberries and raspberries, just as they're on the cusp of going rotten, while the shop is a safe bet for more standard produce such as apples and bananas.
I don't know if the quality and selection of produce here quite merits the superlative name 'Fruit Heaven', but I'd go so far as to say it's definitely at least 'Fruit Purgatory.' read more
