I needed a lawyer to represent me in a divorce in Lawrence County Ohio. My options were limited as my wife had contaminated the lawyers that were locally available to me. After multiple calls to highly rated or recommended law firms in the tri-state area I learned there were almost no lawyers in Huntington and Ashland that practice in Ohio. After extensive research I found Frye, Troxler, & Davis in Russell, KY. They had great online reviews and staffed with a lawyer (Ms. Davis) who can practice in Ohio. At my initial consultation in May, I met with Ms. Troxler, as Ms Davis was in court that day. Ms.Troxler reviewed my case and I was impressed by her level of confidence and professionalism. I retained their services without hesitation and felt a sense of relief and certainty that I was in good hands. My pre-trial was set for June. Days prior to the pre-trial I was uncertain how everything would proceed as I had never been through something like this before. I had yet to meet or speak with Ms. Davis about my case. I assumed a pre-trial meeting would be set up to review my case in order to be prepared and know what my expectations should be. I only ever spoke to her legal assistant who told me that no pre-trial meeting was necessary and that the pre-trial was just a formality. Flash forward to the pre-trial date. I had yet to meet with or speak to Ms Davis. My wife and I were agreeable to most of the issues a divorcing couple deal with. The only point of contention was spousal support. I met Ms. Davis for the first time in the court room stair well and was told that my wife was asking for a large sum in child support and an even larger sum in spousal support. I was advised by Ms. Davis in that moment that this was "the best deal I was going to get" and the outcome would likely be worse for me if we went to trial. I was also instructed that I had to give her my answer then and there. Needless to say I was shocked and overwhelmed. My wife had falsely reported my income which was grossly over-estimated and her own income which was far less than she actually makes despite both lawyers having access to W2's and income tax forms. Per my lawyer's "expert" advice I was led to believe there were no other strategies or legal recourse to improve my outcome, so with a great deal of fear, uncertainty, and hesitation I reluctantly agreed. I was then told by Ms. Davis I was free to go. We never stepped foot into a court room, we never spoke to a judge, no papers were that day. I immediately regretted my decision. After doing the math I was realized I was placed in a position where my monthly income would be wiped out and I was faced with an uncertain future. I called the law firm the next day to see if it was too late to rescind the agreement and take my chances in trial. I had a multitude of questions/concerns and was hoping Ms Davis could guide me. I told the secretary that I urgently needed to speak with Ms. Davis and expressed my concerns about the prior days pre-trial agreement. She responded with a chuckle followed by the statement "Yep, it's like that sometimes" then transferred me to Ms. Davis. However, I was never given the opportunity to speak with her and was intercepted by her legal assistant who told me she was busy with another client. I was instructed to email my concerns/questions to Ms. Davis as she was "very responsive to emails." I immediately wrote a lengthy email to Ms. Davis. After several days with no response by phone or email I was in turmoil over the mistake I had made in agreeing to the deal. I then began seeking new counsel and was able to find a lawyer in Ohio an hour away from where I live. He had already fully reviewed my entire case prior to our meeting and within 15 minutes of our meeting, I learned that I in fact had many options available to me and was clearly being taken advantage of by my wife and her lawyer. I have since retained the new lawyer and terminated services with Ms. Davis due to lack of confidence in her ability to handle this case, substandard due diligence, and very poor communication. read more

I have known Tracy Frye (and her husband) for  years and have found her to be one of the most caring individuals around. This firm cares for the small town where they base their office and love their community. Tracy Frye is also the Russell City Attorney, she doesn't vote, but carries out the wishes of the council... this places her in a tough position at times where she must do her job, even if she doesn't personally agree with the conclusions of the city officials. I believe she handles this position with grace and care for her hometown. She is a non voting city attorney and advises the city on the legality of their decisions and files documents for the City Council of Russell. As with any service industry, many folks are naysayers and it is easy to leave a bad review without allowing a rebuttal, or give a bad review because they feel that they were charged too much. read more

My divorce should have been simple, seeing as we had no property or possessions to divide, and had been separated for several years already. We went to court three times with zero results. We actually were in court once and the judge asked her why we were even there since my ex hadn't been served. She had no idea this hadn't been done yet. So after 7 months I switched lawyers. If I could give them 0 stars I would. They'll buddy up with the other person lawyer and screw you over. They'll make deals with the other person and their lawyer even after telling them you don't agree to something. They would listen to your wishes. It doesn't matter if the other person is in the wrong. They just want your money then they push you out the door. read more

This inept firm is more for the money than client. Retainers are not refunded no matter how much work. Marie Troxler wants the client to do the legwork and all investigating, while they just file the legal papers. Ms Troxler asked me to call the week before court to serve witness subpoena. Then the firm charges me $30 for the phone calls and another $200 for other calls and emails. Ms Troxler charged $500 for just driving to court. They charged over $200 for preparation of a deposition that they were a no show. They worked with other lawyer for separate cross exam. Gave them a list of witnesses in Nov 2020, but firm never tried to talk with them until just weeks before Mar, 2021 court. Charged $65 for subpoenas that never got served by them. Needless to say, lost case of 9yr recorded deed as fraud, based on deposition of plaintiff's memory. Needless to say, Ms Troxler quickly offered to do appeal for $3500 retainer up front. NO WAY, got another lawyer for this appeal of a case my lawyer lost. read more
