Extremely disappointed in the service provided. Not only were we charged way more than what was expected but we had to wait a substantial amount of time after an already 30 minute proposed time. We checked their online menu and figured our two plate hibachi meal would be under $70 but when I got to the restaurant it was well over $80. If you're going to have a website at least have the decency to update your menu to reflect your real prices. Not only that but to lie and say the food is being finished and it would only take about five minute to then say your food is just now being made 15 minutes after. I would give Fuji 5 stars except the temperature inside the restaurant was ice cold. I don't think the grills could heat up the place. They had a space heater that might heat up 1000 square ft but this restaurant is large with very tall ceilings. Everybody ate with coats on. Bathrooms were even colder. Service was excellent. The Chef (Doug) was funny and also excellent. Food was delicious. We had calamari, NY steaks, filet minion, shrimp and fried rice. All great. It was a fun experience but pricey. Called earlier in the afternoon for a reservation, but we had the place to ourselves. Great friendly service from the waitress and the cook! Attentive, and very friendly. Food was very delicious as well! We all ordered the steak option and I did the combo with scallops. The steak itself was cooked the way we wanted it. It was medium rare, tender, and full of flavor. Scallops were cooked the right amount of time and it was fresh and tender as well. The rice, veggies, noodles, soup, and the salad was also a part of the combination and it was very filling and delicious. We also ordered their Fuji roll to share, and it was fresh, and yummy! Mask required to enter the building and while not sitting at table. They also provide hand sanitizer and have Clorox wipes to wipe down the table. I know this is a hibachi place but the sign also said sushi, not a big selection of rolls (maybe8) and sashimi wasn't even on the menu. I ordered a roll with salmon because the only kinds of rolls they mostly offer are just crab or spicy tuna. The salmon in the roll was warm and tasted like slim jim. Since I already ate a few pieces I figured they wouldnt take it back so I picked out the fish and ate the rice with seaweed. The fried rice was a good texture but very wet i almost threw it back on the fryer but that's doing too much. Craving good Hibachi? This is the place! I'm so glad I live close to here especially after Benihana's closed in downtown Seattle this is a great place with the same type of menu and vibes. Soup, salad, rice (upgrade to fried rice for $3), veggies, and the entree you picked all included in the price. I typically go for the Filet mignon and it's amazing every time. Very interactive with the chef, they make it fun and entertaining. Great for families or dates or birthdays. It's an overall great time and great food. I enjoy coming here and always have leftovers. During COVID they've been giving every group their own table even if you just go with 2 people which is nice. I'm sure they're required to do it, but good to know they're following these guidelines. I made a reservation 3-4 weeks in advance for July 4th, Independence Day. We were a party of 9 for a 70th birthday celebration, but when we arrived at the restaurant, to my horror, it was closed. Of course there was NOWHERE else we could go last minute and the celebration got ruined. When I called the restaurant later, the first thing that say said was I (NOT THEM!) must have made a mistake by making a reservation at another "FUJI" restaurant. I was certain that I called the correct place since I made the reservation in the car and the call was on Bluetooth. There were other ppl present who heard the whole conversation and the call history also proved that I called the correct place. After being put on hold for 5 minutes and being asked what I want out of this experience, it was apparent that the person who I was speaking to was not in a position to take any responsibility. So I asked to speak to the owners, but I was told that they only speak Korean so they can't take my call. I said I can speak Korean too, but after being put on hold again, I was told that the owners will not talk to me and that there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING they can do. So guys, I am warning you - if you want to take your chances of a ruined dinner plan, go ahead. The owners will not take any responsibility whatsoever, let alone speak to you when things go south. They will try to blame you, then their part time employee, and if that doesn't work they will COMPLETELY IGNORE YOU. I was planning to make another reservation if the owners' owned up to this mistake, but they only hid behind their employee and blamed another 'part time' waitress who may or may not have been the one who took my reservation. It's important to state before I begin this story that I am a black, pregnant woman. I went to this establishment with 5 other people. 4 of us were black and one of us was Korean. My friends and I had reservations for 7pm. The chef, PETER, didn't come to our station until 8:15. There was no communication or apologies for our wait. PETER made several sexual innuendos towards people at our table. After a few minutes of him cooking he stated he was irritated with us because we weren't engaging with him enough. He proceeded to call my friend gay. PETER said to another server "he looks gay as hell". The other server laughed. He repeatedly asked my friend if he was gay. We were absolutely shocked by his behavior especially considering all of it was unprovoked. We told him he was making us uncomfortable repeatedly but he didn't stop harassing us. When we asked for the manager, he told us he was the manager. Eventually the manager came over and our Korean friend who was a part of our party began speaking to her. She completely disregarded everything and began defending Peter. Time went on and she began apologizing to my Korean friend. My Korean friend said "don't apologize to me. Apologize to my friend." She said she didn't feel comfortable apologizing to him direct because he was black and didn't speak Korean. We were outraged. I felt myself going into early labor. She asked us what we wanted her to do. We said "he needs to be fired and our meals should be free" she told us to pay for 50% or leave. We left and I had to go to the hospital. It was confirmed I went into early labor. Do not come here if you are black. You will not have a good experience. And if you're an ally, please hold these people accountable. We had such a great time at Fuji for our anniversary dinner last night!! I've been dining at teppanyaki restaurants since I was a small boy and this was by far one of the most enjoyable and funnest experiences I have ever had!!! Our chef was "Roland" and he REALLY knew how to interact with us and put on a show that had us laughing and enjoying ourselves and his company all night long!!! The beginning soup is nothing at all to write home about. The salad has an amazing ginger dressing that I can never get enough of!!! The fried rice is simply to die for!!!! It just has such an amazing flavor that I would go to Fuji just for the fried rice if I could!!! The ginger sauce they give you for dipping is really delicious but the yum yum sauce is lacking in my opinion. I prefer the mustard sauce served at Benihana. The New York steak was a very small piece, pretty much the same size as the filet mignon. The steak was a bit bland in flavor and not of the best quality. The shrimp was fairly tasty and even more so when dipped in the ginger sauce. It's really a bummer tho that Fuji doesn't invest in training their chefs the same knife skills that Benihana chefs learn and display when butterflying and cutting the shrimp. Also, unlike Benihana, Fuji doesn't include a shrimp appetizer with their meals, so I felt a little short-changed on this aspect of the meal. They finish the meal with a vegetable concoction consisting of onions, a few mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, and cabbage. I didn't care for the addition of the cabbage and broccoli. Unlike Benihana, there was no ice cream included with the meal as a dessert either so again, a little bit of a feeling of being short changed in this area. All in all, we left stuffed, happy, and satisfied. I would like to see Fuji address the "short-changed" issues I mentioned above however as I think this really improve the overall experience and leave their guests with a little better feeling of getting their money's worth when paying $150 for dinner!! read more

It has been a while since we were last here, but came again last week. It was ok. Kind of surprised that they don't separate parties, we were set right next to a group we didn't know. My husband was elbow to elbow practically to the guy next to him, I would have expected at least 1 space in between. The food was ok, I ordered the filet and calamari. If you are watching your fat or salt intake, this might not be for you. Everything is cooked in mounds of butter and soy sauce. The entertainment from the chef was just meh. And be warned, when they ask you if you want steamed or fried rice, the fried rice is an additional cost (it was either $3.50 or $4.50). It is listed on the menu, but you know, some people don't read the fine print, and they don't tell you that when you order. They must have changed the recipe, because their yum yum sauce is no longer yum yum. Was kind of plain. Their ginger sauce is still pretty good though. I also ordered the crunch roll (I think) and it was pretty good, I ate the whole plate by myself. The portions are really generous, I ended up taking some leftovers home. The fried rice and vegetables were seasoned perfectly. I also really enjoyed the salad and miso soup. I don't know who our chef was, but he was really good at performing and had lots of enthusiasm. I drove out from downtown Seattle because I've been looking for a good teppanyaki spot since Hamanasu closed down. Based on the reviews I was reading, I had high hopes of this being a good replacement. Long story short, I was extremely unimpressed. I ordered the Chicken and Scallops combo, fried rice, and a spicy salmon roll. The spicy salmon roll was made with an extremely salty spicy-mayo/paste. It left me sucking down water. The soup and salad that came with the meal were decent and on par with what you would expect with hibachi. The fried rice, on the other hand, was soggy and quite tasteless. I was also a little upset it was an additional $3.00 (the default is steamed rice). It would have been nice to offer some chili paste to mix in. Lastly, the scallops were left on too long which left them dry and rubbery. Unfortunately, not the taste or experience I was hoping for. I'll give it another try in a few months as Seattle really lacks good teppanyaki restaurants. I'm hopeful things improve! read more

This five star review is based off the food quality and pricing. I absolutely love hibachi places and I'm so glad this one re-opened with the same feel as Susumu. We came here on Valentine's Day and I ordered the salmon and shrimp while my husband ordered the NY steak and chicken. We both substituted our steamed rice for fried rice and the portions we received were super generous. Everything was cooked to perfection and we left full. Salmon had a wonderful crisp crust and tender meat on the inside and the steak was very juicy. You get so much food for what you pay for, which is unlike the other teppanyaki restaurants around here. Our cook was super funny and talented. I held onto my seat in awe. He did tricks I've never seen before outside of the typical egg roll and onion volcano. I would give the waiting staff maybe a 3.5/5 stars however.. had to wait an hour for a water refill and were not very attentive.The quality of the food outweighed that matter of the service. read more

We really liked this place. A couple things were "different" than what we are used to and probably my least favorite part of the meal. The salads were served with ranch dressing- I genuinely missed the genuine Japanese ginger dressing. The second strange thing was the sauces that were served with the meal. I'm used to a mustard sauce and a ginger sauce. One sauce was like a bbq-ginger-ish and the other was a less powerful mustard sauce. The veggies were delicious, the steak was perfectly tender, and the shrimp was juicy. The fried rice was a little softer than we were used to, but still good. I think it lacked a WOW factor for us. The flavors were just okay. Overall we liked this place. We haven't ever had Teppanyaki in WA so we really don't have anything to compare it to. I feel like we were really spoiled by our Teppan place back home. I think we would come here again. I hope they get good business and flourish.
