We found that and so much more at Grace Christian Academy. The classical Christian approach utilized at GCA not only challenges our children, but has molded them into so much more than what we bargained for. We've noticed changes in character, maturity, discipline as well as a dramatic change their work ethic as well. The work load at GCA is heavy and extremely challenging, but also well balanced and geared toward equipping a child's mind to becoming not only successful as an adult, but impacting the world through the eyes of God's Word. No school I know of employs such a curriculum quite like GCA. We are very thankful to God to be able to send our children there. Their staff is on par with excellence.

There is a strong anti-bullying policy which is necessary in all schools. If you put enough children of the same age in the same room there are always issues no matter what school they attend. What matters is how the issues are handled on an administrative level. In my experience, I have no complaints about the administrative department and its workers including the principal. My child loves her school and could not see herself going anywhere else but Holy Child Jesus Catholic Academy through graduation.

They do not want these types of students and will treat your child unfairly as a way to push you out. The bullying is ridiculous and some of the teachers are just as bad as the children when it comes to bullying students. Some teachers just yell all day, others inappropriately yap about their personal love lives to the students when they should be teaching class. However, this school, and more specifically the principal, also has a serious problem with favoritism and if you are not someone who has multiple generations of family who attended this school, has plenty of free time to volunteer, or a ton of money to donate then good luck to you. Your concerns will not be taken seriously. I had such a bad experience with this school that I have been turned off from Catholic education all together. I thought the smaller school setting would be better for my child, however the small setting was just a catalyst for cliques to develop and a "no new kids wanted" mentality.

They have a rigorous curriculum (play based at least from Nursery to Kindergarten). By the end of PreK our son was able to read and write the alphabet, all the numbers, his name, tell a story that was read to his class and so much more. I looked at the 4th grade ELA and math results and the school did a lot better than the national average for sure!) Nursery and Preschool students take a nap but not Kindergarten students. The school started offering warm organic lunches from Red Rabbit, which saves me time in the morning! Even if you decide to pack your child's lunch, you can take a day off on Friday as it's pizza Friday! The school has an early drop off and late pick up program, so your child can technically be in school from 7:30AM to 6PM. The after school program is ran by Ms Katie and you can register your child for enrichment classes such as sports sampling, drumming and cooking. The after school program has an app (iPhone and most likely Android too) that you can install on your phone, so you know where to pick up your child in the afternoon/evening. (They sometimes go to the park)

Several students took us around and showed us all the classrooms including Nursery (full day and half day - 2 separate classes). We were able to ask questions directly to the students, speak with the teachers and see the teacher interact with children. At the end of the open house, the Principal shared the school's vision, mission and goals. She also mentioned to us that several 8th graders were accepted at top high schools in New York including Townsend Harris High School and Stuyvesant High School. This school has up to 20 students per class. They have an early drop off and late pick up program, but they do not offer lunch. Parents can sign up children to take different classes (tennis, hockey, etc) during the after school program.
