When we lost our loved one we had gone to many funeral homes at first and none were as patient, compassionate and supportive as funeraria del Angel. Not only did they guide us through the entire process, they made sure we gave our loved one a proper goodbye. Susana and her staff were friendly, professional and genuine. Only giving this place 1 star because I cannot give any less! My family and I have always used Funeria del Ángel for years for many of my relatives and they have always been very accomodating, open to sharing any and all information with all family members. Unfortunately, my family and I lost my grandma on the 12 of September last month. Also unfortunately, my whole family except a certain someone has been purposely excluded from the planning of my grandmother's services. My family and I have been getting the run-around from Funeria del Angel employees, telling us one thing, only to find out that information was wrong, or is being withheld due to our ridiculous family drama at the behest of the individual "in charge" of planning the services. It is overall extremely disheartening and disappointing that we are having this experience this time around, after many years of using this place for our family. We assumed Funeria Del Angel and it's staff would be understanding to our unusual situation and family dynamics and would work with us since they have always been more than understanding and flexible. I cannot express how disappointed myself and my entire family is. read more

The sound system was horrible. It was staticky and the volume was too loud at times. The lady hired to read the prayers didn't announce my Abuelita's name properly. The A/C was not strong enough to keep it cool with a packed house. I was very disappointed in the sound system. read more

Had a really bad experience with this funeral home. First we couldn't even set and appt to make arraignments, took a week of me calling, leaving messages to finally set a date. So, the night of the service our attendant Jack was a total jerk. There were about 150 to 200 people in attendance. We understood that because of covid he was only allowed to have X amount inside, but he was really rude about it. He would lock the door and wouldn't let people in to use the restroom. He had the nerve to tell his manager that there were a lot of people drinking, which was untrue. I have so many other bad things I could say about that night, but I'll leave it at that. My father was a WWII veteran and we waited more than 1/2 hour for honorary guards to arrive. The employees of Del Angelo folded up my fathers flag like it was piece of rag because she thought guards were not going to show up. No respect to WWII veteran, my Dad who served his country proudly. total miscommunication and disrespectful! Guards finally showed up. Thank you to Rosa and her and her team they did a awesome job, me and my family lost hour loved father Rosa accommodated every request we had, compara to Oakdale cemetery is was several thousand dollar less I don't remember the names is the people that where there for the viewing, but the where there for us they when the extra mile to make sure we didn't had to worried about anything they kept the cafeteria clean and organized. Disappointed with this facility, we had a service at 10:00AM did not start till 11:30. They brought the wrong person not sure if it was a female or African American. That they realized the pictures did not match the person on the pictures around. Floral arrangements are expensive to just toss around was not pleased with this location. The attention to the loved ones was not there. It's about making the money and not verifying information ahead of time. read more

My dad's (Jose Santana)services were horrible, not one ounce of respect or compassion to our grieving family and friends. Jeff was slamming doors , Saying rude comments, locking our family and friends out of the chapel. He told my grieving son he looked like a zombie because he was crying so much . My dad's death was unexpected we are still hurting Deeply and left with guilt over the horrible send off my father received. Took forever to get the death certificate signed. And he was cremated 2 months after his death . This was torture for us . We were informed he would be cremated at 2 pm in Monrovia. We wanted to be there to finally make one thing right or have sone closure to begin to heal. We were informed when we got there he was cremated at 9:30 that morning. The nightmare repeated itself all over again . The communication here is horrible. I know the whole world is short staffed but we can NEVER redo my dads memorial services there's no redo or do over for that . How do you correct that "wrong"that my family did not deserve? My dad deserved better and we were robbed of that . read more

We used this funeral home for my mother in law because it was close to our home. My mother in law was on hospice at home, when she passed the hospice nurse attempted to call them for over 1 hour to inform them of her passing so they could pick her up, no answer. It got to the point that the nurse, my daughter and myself were all trying to call every number we had and still no reply. My husband, who by the way just lost his mom, had to drive over there and bang on the door to get a response. At this point we were mad and would have called another place if everything hadn't already been pre-paid. It just got worse from there. She passed at approximately 7am and her body wasn't picked up from our house until 6pm. I had an appointment a couple of weeks later to finalize details of her service and sign some papers, I arrived at the appointment time and no one in sight. I walked all the way to the back of what seemed like an empty funeral home by myself and no one around. I called while sitting inside and no answer. I sat alone, waiting for 30 minutes until someone walked out and saw me there... looked like she had just finished eating and I had to tell her I had an appointment because she looked confused. No one called to follow up after that appointment, I had to call them and ask if everything was good to go for the services. Day of service I asked if the pictures for the slideshow could be updated since I uploaded new ones 3 days prior and edited existing ones as well as added a video on the website they gave me, the man there that day didn't know how to do any of that. I asked if the monitors could be fixed because the tint on all the pictures was off and all the faces looked orange/red and again, he didn't know how. I had to ask him to play music because we were all sitting there in awkward silence. They got a couple of stars for the beautiful flower set up for the urn and the man that was there day of ceremony did help us carry things in and out. Otherwise, horrible experience. I can't recommend this place to anyone based on our experience. read more

My wife's (Corrine) mother passed away in February of 2022. She had been ill for several years and had taken care of all funeral arrangements in 2015. She was raised in Lincoln Heights and had planned to have all the services at the Lincoln Heights branch of Funeraria Del Angel. Upon her passing, Corrine attempted to reached out to the representative's of that location. First off, the operators answering the phones were very cold, insensitive and uncaring and my wife continuously left messages with no call back for several days. We knew that at the time of my mother in laws passing that they were taking six weeks before they would be able to cremate her. When a representative of the Lincoln Heights location finally called back, once again, they were probably worse with their insensitivity and rudeness. We could not believe that at a time when a person is hurting so much emotionally that one human being can treat another human in that manner. Then we decided to drive by the mortuary to look at the location. They had a horrible looking tent set up in the parking lot of the location where the services would be held !!!!!! They talk about "Dignity" in all of their handout materials and that was far from providing anyone with a dignified farewell to family and loved ones. Since my mother in law lived with us in the Chino area, we decided to reach out to the Chino location. Oh my god, what a complete turnaround on how we were treated. Corrine spoke with Susana Gutierrez who was a manager at the location and she was so kind and helpful it was unbelievable !!! First off, Corrine explained to Susana what had transpired with the Lincoln Heights location and she was so sympathetic and apologetic to the way she had been treated. We told her that we wanted the Chino location to handle the service arrangements. Susana had to contact the people at the other location to change the paperwork of where the services were going to be held. That itself was not a easy task to complete. She did so in a timely manner and was constantly keeping us informed of the progress. Once that was completed, it came time to go over the particulars of the service itself. My mother in law had paid for a particular package at the time in 2015. Corrine wanted to do a few things different which required some time to complete. Susana was so patient and helpful and spent literally hours with corrine going over particulars of the service. From the flowers, prayer cards, guest sign in book to the urn itself. She was helpful, caring and fantastic on how she conducted herself during this whole process. We can't compliment her enough on how helpful and caring she was. We understand because of Covid19 these locations are overwhelmed with people passing, let alone with their normal workload. But Susana made us feel like we were her only client !!! She constantly kept in communication with Corrine both telephonically, via email and using text messages. Susana should be the person providing training to people getting into the business on how clients should be treated at one of the worse times of their life !!!! She is the mold of what customer service should be, treating people with respect, sensitivity and dignity. From the gentlemen who came to pick up my dad at home(he was on hospice) to the gentlemen who helped us at the mortuary the day of my dad's services every person was kind, compassionate, empathetic. I dealt with Susanna the mgr at the mortuary. She was incredible, continuous follow up with us. We had a mishap at the cemetery and she took care of it immediately. I was very pleased with Del Angel. They were kind, courteous, helpful & compassionate. They were very flexible with Viewng during Covid. We had a 2 hour period and they let us rotate family & friends so there was social distancing, but at least everyone got some time. I would definitely recommend them. If there is a way to give this place NO stars, I would. This corporation of mortuaries has thee most unprofessional, most insensitive staff I dealt with during my research in finding a mortuary to cremate a deceased loved one. From the first call, I spoke with a "Grace" who was clearly ill prepared in taking my call. She immediately asked for my name and call back number so she could call me back with proper quotes for the services I was inquiring about. About 15 min later, she calls me back several times while I was on my other line speaking with another mortuary. She finally gets a hold of me, still couldn't provide me a breakdown of their services and pricing. Although she mentioned that they were understaffed that day, she stated that "Jessica" who was more knowledgable than herself was with another family at the time. She then proceeded to ask me for my deceased family members' personal info. I immediately told her that I was not comfortable providing her any personal information especially since I have not committed to proceed with their services, to that she "chuckled." I was offended. She then tells me that Jessica is now available and that she would like to transfer my call to her. I decide to hang up. Grace immediately calls me back. I let it go to voicemail. She leaves a message. I do not call back. Believe it or not, my family gave the Pierce Brothers corporation the benefit of the doubt - we did keep in mind that the Chino location was understaffed and decided to contact their West Covina location on the same day.... However, their staff was just as unprofessional, but this time did not return any of my Aunt's calls. They finally returned her call the next day and had us come to their facility. Instead of telling my aunt over the phone that they could not accommodate our needs, they waited until we physically arrived at their West Covina location for "Jesse" to tell us in person. Rude. Especially to a family that was grieving a loved one. Through my extensive research in finding a decent mortuary, my suggestion is to AVOID ALL CORPORATE MORTUARIES SUCH AS PIERCE BROTHERS AT ALL COSTS, and locate the smaller independently owned mortuaries who have been in business for years. They are more accommodating, compassionate and attentive to your family's needs. read more

Went to a funeral here a few years ago and it was not a nice place. Dirty, holes in the wall, air conditioning was broken, bathroom was awful, unclean and small. Don't waste your money here!!! Felt like an awful place to celebrate someone's life. Staff wasn't very respectful either when we would ask questions about where we could put decor etc. Terrible business. read more

This place has been very unprofessional with the way they handle our service. Unfortunately we lost our baby angel at birth. She passed on May 18 2019. Overall the way this business handle our lost was so hurtful and inconsiderate for our loss and pain. They didn't take consideration of our hurt and suffering. They were not organized and coordinated at all. They didn't have our paperwork ready, didn't even know who we are or what was going on with our baby. The thing that got us more hurt and upset was that we had an appointment on May 25 2019 at 11am. We got to our appointment and they didn't know anything or had nothing ready for our baby. The worst part that everything was paid off already. One thing I will say is that I will never go to this place or ever recommend this place to anyone. read more

My Mother passed away early In the morning at home on hospice. Funeraria del Angel Chino was notified at 6:30 am, they gave us an appointment time of 2:00 due to the pandemic they were busy. We were saddened to know our would have to stay in her hospital bed in her room for so long but we tried to be understanding. She was not picked up until 9:30 pm, she stayed in her bed for all those hours under blankets in a hot room. They did not call with updates we had to be constantly calling them‍ We paid almost $4000 dollars for package that included an urn. That urn was made of cardboard and I'm sure didn't cost near what they charged. My mother passed in Early Feb. she was not cremated and service at the end of April. Now her obituary is no where to be found. Covid has taken so much from us, can we please have her memory honored please I know these are out of the ordinary times but please hire more staff and pay them well! You get what you pay for! read more

As a vendor, delivering funeral flowers for a service this evening, I encountered only extremely unhelpful, rude employees who seemed to not care at all about A) the grieving families who are in a very fragile state of mind, B) the vendors who were hired by the grieving families to accomplish their vision of how they want their loved one to be viewed for the last time or C) the fact that there is an outlet to express our dissatisfaction to the entire world. If they treat vendors like this, how must they treat the general public who knows very little about this kind of event? I was surprised at the attire worn by the employees- visible tattoos, piercings and bad attitudes. I help people all the time plan the most sentimental and often biggest days of their lives. most of the time it is weddings, but funerals sneak in there too. I can only say, now, that i can never and will never recommend this mortuary to anyone, ever. read more

So we did all the Arrangements for my Brother. During the services the Lady who was to be in charge was too busy talking to other people and not paying attention. I had to run the services. She didn't do any thing. The blanket was not ready so it wasn't displayed actually nothing we ordered except for the prayer cards were not ready. My Sister n Law will receive everything in about 2 -3 weeks This was the worst service I have seen from a funeral place. Think again before you use this place read more

Unfortunately I have been to several viewings and memorals here. They have all been super nice and suportive. And they have been so good to the grieving families that, I know. And They are very professional. I went in there the other day. I myself was looking to purchase my plot. I know that kinda sounds weird but I and just looking out for my family. God forbid anything happen to me I would love for my family to not have to worry about coming up with money. I'm sure they will have other things on their minds. 7 years ago, I moved my mother back to Southern California from Utah. Prior to leaving Utah, she & I made and paid for all arrangements for her being returned to Utah upon her passing. The Utah mortuary listed the then, Pierce Brothers Mortuary as the local facility with which they would handle those arrangements. Mom passed on January 6, 2014 and I called Funeraria del Angel Pierce Brothers Griffith in Chino and arranged for them to pick up mom and prep her for transport to Utah. I as told I had to come to the office to complete some paperwork. That being completed, I thought all was taken care of. When I called a few days later, I was told that Funeraria had contacted the Utah facility and was told that there were no prior arrangements made or paid for. I called the facility in Utah and confirmed that all had been paid for and that they would call Funeraria and make arrangements for mom to be transported to Utah. 2 weeks later, while in Australia, I received an email from Funeraria stating that they still had not heard from the Utah facility. I fired off an email to the Utah facility and was informed that they had not yet been notified by Funeraria that mom was ready to be transported. Long story short, mom was finally sent back to Utah in mid-February. A little investigation by me revealed that Funeraria personnel had failed to communicate information to one another and each one thought that the other was handling my mom. Pierce Brothers had an excellent reputation in the past but currently appears to severely mismanaged. read more

This place was absolutely awful!!! Disgusting! We didn't pick the place, some of our family did for a family member's service. Air conditioning didn't work which was bad for a ton of people. Place was unclean, bathroom was tiny with uneven flooring and it was stained, weeds were coming out of the ceiling, not one plant in the front, all dirt, place was very dirty, staff was rude. They didn't tell us there was no alcohol allowed, and then the staff was angry and told a few of the guests to not drink. If you don't allow alcohol you need to tell customers ahead of time when they rent the place, or at least go talk to the people that hosted the party instead of going around barking at the guests. At the gravesite service, they brought a tiny tent that fit like 5 people so all of the guests were baking in the sun which was really brutal because it was very hot day. They do this for a living, they know better. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! The people that run this place should be ashamed of themselves. That isn't respectful to the dead or to family members. read more
