My 10 yr old had so much fun. Pricing was a bit confusing. Overall would definately be back!

Took my twin 7 year old boys here and I cannot say enough good things about it! To see the confidence building effect Funtopia had on them is mind blowing. It was such a joy to watch their hesitancy turn into bravery and their fear turn into fun. We were there for 3 hours and they did not want to leave but they left feeling like they could conquer the world! The staff works very hard to make sure your kiddos are unclipped and moving on to the next climbing station. I was impressed with their hustle. We will definitely be back again and again! read more

First, let me talk about the positive. My 5 yo and 4 yo had a fantastic time on the ropes course. They loved climbing up and down the equipment. The staff was surprisingly attentive considering it was a busy Friday afternoon (cold and rainy forecast). There was one employee, in particular, who went above and beyond to help my 4 yo swing from the large yellow tube. I wish I got his name but he was a young Asian boy with tons of energy and lots of smiles/encouraging words for my kiddos. My kids also loved playing in the dirty, stinky cave using the helmets provided, which had lights on them. They thought it was super cool to go "caving." And now the negative... We walked in 5 min before our reserved time. I bought and paid online with my credit card that morning at 845 am. I got a confirmation screen that all was good. Well, we show up and the employee at the front desk says we aren't reserved for any spots. Of course, my kids are devastated so I inquire about the situation knowing there has to be an error on his part. He tells me that he can get us in but we "have to pay again" and I can "figure it out later if I get double charged." I tell him that I'd like to call my credit card company first to see if there is a pending charge. This employee said that the online system has been doing this a lot but he offered no apologies whatsoever. Flash forward 15 min later, I pay "again"'because their system hadn't in fact charged my card and reserved my spot even though I got confirmation. I asked for a 15 min credit towards my paid hour because of Funtopia's inconvenience (error with online reservations) and the employee said he couldn't allow this. Another employee, however, was able to give us back our lost time so I find it disheartening and concerning that the staff is not on the same page. And now for the worse part...my kids played in the cave and tunnels for the last 1/2 of their stay. I saw NO staff AT ALL managing these areas and there were TONS of kids utilizing them. I stayed close so I could watch my kids but I didn't actually go into the tunnels. All of a sudden, my 4 yo daughter came out crying hysterically because two boys were beating her up (punching and kicking her face and belly). This was witnessed by several kids including my 5 yo son, who all tried to come to her rescue. At this time, I summoned an employee over to tell her to check out the tunnels because there is some very inappropriate behavior going on in there. She went up into the tunnels and minutes later came down and said (verbatim) "I can't do anything about it because there are parents up there." I told her that she CAN do sometime and that she needs to have staff over here to make sure things are controlled. She rolled her eyes and walked away. I was in shock that an establishment like this would be so flippant at such a situation. This employee showed no concern for my daughter or what happened in general. Needless to say, I will not be back under any circumstances. Sad because we've been here several times and it just gets worse and more wild and the staff seem to not care or is oblivious (or both)!!! I would have complained to the manager on the spot but my daughter was begging to leave. read more

I took my son here for a last minute play date with a couple of friends. They loved it and asked to go again the following week-end. I thought it was small and the ropes course was only open certain times but they seemed to keep busy the entire time. read more

I took my daughter there for several bday parties in past year. It is fun place for kids but... way to dirty!!! Parents steping with shoes on play area. If you take a look from upstairs on equipment, you can see tons of dust. I would never take my kids for a free play there. Afoul for Glenview area. read more

Great place for kids 4 and above. If you have children that have lots of energy this is the place. Not overcrowded since you need to make reservations. We took grandkids 4 and 7 and they loved it. Many video and picture opportunities. read more

Had a fantastic experience today! Made a reservation ahead of time just in case they were booked like the receptionist said to do. I was a little worried that my nephews were too old (10-13) but they had a great time. I can't wait to bring my other 7 year twin nephews, they probably would enjoy it even more!! read more

Had a Groupon and tried it out on a rainy Sunday morning. We had an hour (10-11) but by the time we got the gear on and listened to the video, it was closer to 10:15-10:20. I was pleasantly surprised that they operated on more of an honor system (at least that morning) and we got to enjoy our full hour and stayed until 10:15 ish. And most importantly both my kids had a blast. read more

This place is not safe for smaller children. The climbing teachers have large metal carabineers on them that end up at face level and smack into their heads. My son had this happen two times in a row and ended up with a big bump on his forehead. When I told the staff they just said they were aware of the situation and had tried to pad then, the pads fell off. They said he was to small. The best part is that this hardware was on the easy climbing features. On more challenging things they had a better setup that only had metal hardware where it connects to the child's harness. read more

We had our son's 3rd birthday at Funtopia in the Soft play area and it was great. Everyone that was there with us had fun and did not want to leave. Our party ranges from 1 year old to 6 years old. They all had a great time and the coordinator was very good and made the party flow easily. They do have a lot of parties so you are not by yourself and it is not quiet. read more

We were there last Saturday afternoon to attend a birthday party. My 10 year old son was trying to climb a rope ladder and asked help from one of the staff members. She obviously didn't pay attention or being careful, somehow the heavy metal hook that connects the harness to the ladder spun out of her hands and hit my son right on the forehead. It was so painful that he started to cry. However, the staff member simply walked away without doing anything. I later found out the incident and was shocked by such behavior, so irresponsible in the first place and so ruthless post the accident! My child had a huge bump and bruise on his forehead. However, I can't help wondering what if the hook hit a child in the eyes or noses that cause severe damaging? It was outrageous! It was apparent that most staff members were not happy to be there, they look uninterested. Are they getting paid minimal wage and simply hope they were not there? Ouch! read more

My 2.5 year old son had sooooo much fun in the jungle gym area. At first he was hesitant to climb everything, but as his confidence grew, he was running around having a ball. I had to go in the jungle gym with him though since he was a bit too small/young to go down the big blue slide on his own (the slide was very fast, but also very fun). He could handle everything else independently. Price was right too ($10 for unlimited time in the jungle gym). Perfect for getting energy out!! One recommendation for the parents: wear athletic gear. It's a workout and you will be climbing and crawling around with your kiddos. I was drenched in sweat after 1.5 hours nonstop in the jungle gym. Definitely regretted my decision to wear jeans. Only thing I would change is I wish they had season passes for those of us who live nearby. read more

If you're looking for a place for kids to have a great time and tire them out in a short amount of time than funtopia is the place to be! Funtopia has a variety of climbing walls that the kids love, each with their own theme. So it's a new adventure on each wall. There's also a fun slide that takes the kids up high than releases them for a quick thrill! You have to pay a few dollars extra for the slide and they get to go on it twice. It's definitely worth it though. The employees are very helpful and are constantly running around helping kids off and on hooks. Make sure you call or check their website though for height and weight requirements to be able to fit the harness. They have a small jungle gym area for toddlers and infants who are there waiting on their siblings so there's fun for all. Food is also sold there and there's space for private parties as well! I would definitely recommend going there and will go again soon! read more

We just had our daughter's 2nd birthday party here yesterday. Our Host Lori was absolutely amazing! She was very helpful, organized and very good with kids. The pizza was delish! The play ground is clean and the staff were very nice. We had wonderful time and our guest enjoyed the fun activities. Overall, wonderful experience! read more

My son on the maze last night, ended up with 5 staples in his head. He came down with blood pouring out of his head. The staff were unprepared for this. Really disappointing. My son hit a steel bar inside the maze that was partially covered with padding. Beware parents. read more

It's a nice idea, that's very poorly executed!!! Will start with the positive, for kids 8, 9, 10 years old it's a great way for them to get exercise and build confidence. But the place is absolutely filthy, filthy dirty. Papers, wrappers, dust bunnies everywhere. The worst part, children's 'soft play zone' smells of urine. And for extra torture, in the hour and 15 minutes I was there they played, 'Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer' 4 times. read more

This place was super fun! My children love it but they are complaining about there hands are hurting and that the cave you can really hurt yourself. Otherwise, they love it. There were a bunch of climbing walls and each one is very different. A great place to go on a rainy day. read more

We heard great things about this place from my sister, so we tried it out, but it was a total bust. First, we did not realize that should book a time online, so when we arrived at opening, they told us that our child couldn't do many of the activities she wanted to do until noon. They should leave some slots for walk-ins. Second, when we went to sign the release, a bunch of rude mothers cut in line in front of us. Third, it didn't really matter because the line wasn't moving anyway. Finally, we didn't realize that you had to add the slide extra, and our child was very disappointed. We couldn't go back to add it because of the non-moving line. We would not return both because of the terrible customer service and the other rude families. read more

Such a great concept, but some kinks to workout. 1) I have never experienced more miserable employees. They need to hire people who actually enjoy children. Not expecting Disney, but faking a few smiles could go a long way 2) the drop slide kept breaking so it was a huge time suck and 3)the ropes on the upper course get stuck in the tracks at every turn causing huge frustration 4) while I like the pop 40 music, need to play the clean version. Kinda cool. But bathrooms are super dirty and food all over the place. This place won't last long. They need to hire someone who knows what to keep a place clean. High Glenview rent and dirty place I I give it 2 years or less before its closed down. read more

The wall climb wasn't bad, but the jungle gym part was a complete waste of money. It is extremely small and I had to pay an extra $10 for it. My 4 year old was done after 10 min. Totally not worth it. And the "caves" is just a very short course in tubes. read more

This place needs a lot of fine tuning. We visited with our 6 yr. old grandson yesterday. There were 4 employees working the not-so-busy front desk and only 3 employees out on the floor where it is very busy. Except for 2 of the employees, the rest were surly and never smiled. One did not even speak English! Not one seemed to be happy to be working there. The cave was not in operation. You have to pay extra for everything - the slide, additional tries at two of the climbing activities. And I wonder about the cleanliness of the place - do those coveralls for the slide ever get washed? I doubt if we would return. read more

I have visited Funtopia 6 or 7 times since it opened. I had a very disappointing experience today. The new belay system is quite difficult to operate and the facility was very understaffed. This also corresponds with a price increase. There were a number of birthday parties for which young children had been dropped off. Young children who appeared to be 5 years old or younger were stuck on climbing apparatus without the ability to disconnect. My husband, other adults and I had to release many children from the apparatus due to the shortage of staff. I asked the manager on duty about this and he was dismissive and condescending until I mentioned Yelp reviews. I will not be returning to the facility. read more

Went today for the first time. Prices were good and equipment was fun (although several attractions broken or closed). The front desk staff is horrible. No explanation of how anything worked, no customer service skills at all. I actually felt they were annoyed we were there and had to help us. I had to ask where to go and how things worked. They seemed bothered I was asking questions. We ordered food and although we were the only ones at the desk, they didn't even talk to us other than to tell us the price. Would love to go back but want to spend money where people appreciate the business. read more

We were there with my 4 year old granddaughter. She was there once before and loves it. There are enough things for her to do and she actually is very good doing the wall climbing .It is crowed on the weekends ,but it is a very different thing to do. You need to try this. read more

I am surprised seeing the low ratings. My kids had a blast! I took my 6 and 8 year olds and they both loved the climbing walls. You do have to book your tickets in advance as they can sell out. It's nice they have tables and it's one big open area so if you wanted you could sit and watch them play. The only complaint I have is their cancellation policy. Sometimes kids get sick or something happens and you have to cancel at last minute. Luckily this hasn't happened to us but on their website it states the times cannot be changed or refunded. Maybe if you called them though they would be willing to give refund? IDK but kids places should definitely have somewhat of a lenient cancellation policy or at least give you credit to use for another day. read more

We went there and we thought it would be great fun we are 13 and had a lot of other experience at other places like pump it up only a few blocks away but this place was pretty cool and looked clean. We booked our time and the said we didn't, it was a huge disappointment, if you want to go make sure you book and confirm it not one, not two but three times because they don't know what they are doing we would love to go but we don't want to get let down again. Actually the thrid time we got let down because it is small and always booked. lastly the price is bad it is 15 dollars to go there for a kid while at pump it up is ten. Im a divorced parent trying to bond with my child. I asked where he wanted to go he said the new "funtopia" so i took him their. First thing i saw was immature workers swearing left and right in front my six year old. When i confronted them they rolled their eyes and started whispering (most likely about me) there was not enough staff and out of the one hour i paid for my kid he stood around for about half an hour waiting for staff. If you want to have a good time with your child the khols children's museum is much better choice read more

My daughter came here for a birthday party. It was our first time here. They had one hour in the climbing area. We had never been here before, I felt that it was disorganized and chaotic and we were unaware with what to do. my daughter was placed in a harness and then the children can strap themselves into different climbing walls and even once we were told how to do it I found it very difficult. They do have workers in the area to assist you but they just stand around unless you seek them out for help it would be nice if they were more proactive in helping when they see a need. I also felt like there was a safety risk there's nothing that prevents the kids from leaving the area except for a gate that was always open. I think it's a great concept and the kids enjoyed the climbing. my daughter wasn't much of a daredevil to do a lot of the climbing but I just think in general it's not executed very well. read more

I heard about this place from a friend and thought it sounded like fun. When we got there, we were greeted by the front desk staff who didn't seem pleased to help us. They didn't explain anything and we had to ask about all the details. Once we got onto the area, the staff out there were grumpy and didn't seem happy to help. I have to say I hesitated between 2 and 3 stars but for such a customer service I decided on two. I think it is a great place for kids. Fun and simply different. Mine enjoyed it a lot. It is a bit frustrating that some activities are closed and open every 30 min. What left me disappointed was the attitude of the staff at the front desk. Once we finished playing I took off the stickers from my kids shirts and noticed that stickers left the color on their clothes. Orange lines were on their backs. I asked the front desk if this washes off. The reply was it has never happened again and maybe they had them before. Seriously??? I did not hear "sorry" even once. There were like 4 girls at the front desk behaving like teenagers and not employees. They were looking at us as we are crazy. Even my kids noticed. This is not what I expect from a place like this. Any place really. I wrote an official complaint but judging by other comments I should not expect much. read more

I began by trying to book my son's birthday party here. I was surprised that you had to buy food (pizza or hotdogs) to book a birthday party. Other places (Pump it Up for example) will allow you to book without food especially when the bday times are nowhere near eating times or you have kids who eat very little. So, I asked if I could substitute an additional activity in lieu of the food for the package prices and that was not allowable. So I was allowed to book a group --not a birthday party . Honestly the cost savings for doing this was actually worth it --about $7 less per child a cost difference for me of about $100.00.-- I was allowed to use a large table, bring my own cake and drinks. When I booked this way, the person assisting me said nothing about the great tables they have upstairs, the cups, plates and forks supplied and so I was pleasantly surprised. Don't waste your time booking the birthday package unless you want the food. Overall the kids loved it! I will say the staff are a bunch of teenagers and for the most part and not all that helpful. read more

Great entertainment for kids, however, they need to make some changes to get a better rating from me. First the pricing is very confusing. Not clear what's included and what cost extra. They need to redo their original signs. Second, and more important is their cleanliness. We were there first thing in the morning when it opened so they can't blame it on a whole day of the children playing there. The jungle gym (climbing area for toddlers) was filthy. Dirt all around and litter everywhere. One or two employees could have went through and picked it up before opening. The wooden storage shells under the big climbing area has dust an inch thick. It looks like it hasn't been dusted/vacuum since it opened in June. If you are not going to have the employees do it, then hire a cleaning service to come in after hours. Hopefully they will listen to people's reviews because their concept for children having fun is great. read more
