    Modern glass flowers (before firing)

A friend and I used a Groupon to take the beginner's glass fusion class. We are not particularly artistic (OK, we are not at all artistic!) nor creative so weren't sure if we would be successful or enjoy the process. But this doesn't matter as everyone can do glass fusion. So much fun! Mike, our instructor, did an excellent job explaining and demonstrating the process. He educated us about the glass, the tools and the techniques. He was thorough, patient and helpful.  I also appreciated his sense of humor. While we were working on our "masterpieces", Mike offered suggestions to each individual and provided additional tools to help use create better items. I took beginner class a few years ago at a different facility, and it was not nearly as good as the one offered at Fused in Glass. This working studio has a large variety of glass colors and styles (flat pieces, straight & curved tubes, beads, ground glass aka fritz). We learned a lot and had fun. Seems like Fused in Glass regularly offers Groupons for their beginner classes to encourage people to try glass fusion. It's a cost-effective way to introduce this creative process to many people. Can't wait to see what our fired artworks look like! Due to Covid-19, the class sizes are limited so people are socially distanced at their workstations, and everyone must wear a mask. There is some interaction though as people wandered around the room selecting their glass pieces. We felt fairly safe, although people who want to maintain strict distance in an enclosed room, may prefer to wait until the pandemic is over.

I found an introductory class on Groupon and decided to try it and I am hooked! Mike is an excellent teacher, and Charlie is there as well with any help and friendly advice. They are super talented and it's a great place. I made a small tray that I absolutely love and I am going back for some open studio time because I loved it so much.

Bought a Groupon last year and was finally able to use it. Took a friend with me. This is an interesting little studio in a warehouse district at the end of a residential area. We stayed almost 2.5 hours as we were done with our pieces. Mike explained the process and was very helpful guiding us through cutting the glass and explaining the differences etc. This is a fun activity to do with girlfriends or as a couple. Would definitely recommend trying it out. You can also do other workshops at the studio besides the introductory class.

This was my 2nd intro class, and this time I brought 3 other people with me. I live in the Ft Lauderdale area, but it's definitely worth the drive. Mike is a great (and funny) instructor, and both he and Charlie are very helpful with design and execution ideas. I chose to make a 6x6 sushi style plate for a small up charge (5x5 is included). This studio has all the tools you need to make a great piece of art. I can't wait to see how my jellyfish turns out after firing! I also can't wait to go back to make another plate!

I purchased a Living Social deal for myself and for my sister. I thought this looked interesting and would be a fun activity for us to try. We have never fused glass before. The class I took was an introduction to fusing class. When I came into the studio there was a table with tools set up. Our class had six participants. The first thing we were introduced to was what the tools were and how they worked. Then we were taught how to properly cut glass and create a variety of shapes. For the intro class we were given a choice of making a candle holder or a small sushi plate. We all chose to make plates. We were given a plate to work with. We got to design everything ourselves. The instructor walks around and assists along the way. The finished products will go into a kiln to be heated up to be completed and the participants will get a phone call when the finished product is ready. I had a really nice time and excited to see how my plate comes out. Fused glass really is a work of art! This studio also offers additional classes including one for jewelry as well. Their website also says they offer slots for open studio time.

Setup prior to firing for finished project.

What a great experience! The instructors were terrific and assisted in the process to help us along. I would recommend upgrading ($10) to the larger glass so you can do the Sushi dish. Pic post prior to firing and will post finished project.

I am not an arts and crafts type person. This is probably because I have no aptitude for such pursuits. I took a jewelry class once and the instructor tried his best to help me accomplish the goal of completing even one piece of jewelry but he did so through gritted teeth. I can't draw a straight line. This doesn't bother me at all. Nobody is good at everything. When my sister decided to come visit with her kids, she was looking for things to do. She likes to do crafts. She's not so good either, but maybe better than me. At least she takes an interest. So when I found out about Fused in Glass I said let's do this. Even my husband agreed to participate. Mike, the owner and instructor, was key in making our experience a good one. First, he gave us some instruction on how to cut glass. It wasn't that hard, but it wasn't that easy either. I looked around at the walls with beautiful glass plates and other works of art and became wistful. I'm not one to have lots of tchotchkes in my home but in the case of what I saw in the studio that day I'd probably make an exception for a piece or two, they were so pretty and unlike anything I'd ever seen before. Next, we got to pick out glass and cut the pieces to make a plate. We were told to make any kind of design we liked. I became frustrated. Because I have no vision. I love art - love going to museums, galleries, you name it - but I have no vision when it comes to creating a visual work of art myself. Ask me to draw a picture of someone and I'll give you a very poor rendition of a stick figure. A first grader can draw better than I can. So I decided to cut out pieces to make a flower, and it actually did kind of look like something a first grader would do but I left feeling good because I finished my project and am now waiting for it to be fired and fused into a plate that I can display in my home. I'd love to take some more advanced classes but am doubtful I could do it. Still, it was a great experience, we all had lots of fun, and it's a great place to go as a group. And even if you aren't artistic, it doesn't really matter - you can make something abstract. A great addition to Boynton Beach.

I bought a LivingSocial coupon with two friends. We all loved it and ended up with totally different looking results that look good and are usable for each of us.. Certainly good value and a fun activity to do with friends or family. I look forward to returning for more adventurous projects.

The items for sale are of high quality and considering that, the prices are by a large reasonable. You're supporting a local, small business by spending your money here. It is well worth it. My wife and I went with our local photography club where we saw the artists creating their works of art. We watched an informative glassblowing presentation, saw a lot of beautiful unique art and walked around the extensive gift shop.
