As soon as I saw the place I could instantly see why she was so excited.This place is a gorgeous majestic building. It's located right next to a very large park,Alameda Central and very close to the Zocalo. It's a very busy part of town-so be prepared for crowds outside of the building. Once inside it's a lot less crowded and this beautiful building is just as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. One thing I did not know about this beautiful art museum is that it is also Mexico City's most famous performing arts center as well. My wife told me about a very famous Juan Gabriel concert that was held there in the 90s.Through the years most of the most famous artists in Mexico have performed at Bellas Artes. Today we are here for the art as this is Mexico City's most famous art museum and after walking thru all 4 floors of the museum,one can definitely see why. Diego Rivera's most famous murals are housed in this museum and they are truly breathtaking.I truly felt proud of my Mexican heritage upon seeing these amazing works of art. Jose Clemente Orozco and David Alfaro Siqueiros have many of their most famous pieces at this museum as well. Anyone looking for Frida Kahlo work though will be disappointed as her work is not permanently featured at this museum. Cost for admission to this museum is 95 Pesos Tuesday thru Saturday and free admission for everyone on Sundays.They are closed on Mondays. In closing,I 100% recommend all visitors to the amazing Mexico City's must make Palacio De Bellas Artes a must-visit destination.It is truly a gem of the city and one of the most memorable experiences the city has to offer.

Instead we're going all the way to the country's capital. I'm talking about Mexico City. The Distrito Federal. So put on your sombreros and grab you a margarita because this one is about to get spicy. Well, sort of. Let's get into it. Now I've travelled south of the border many times. More times than I can count actually. But this was my first time going all the way to Mexico City. I was there to do some videos for my YouTube channel and I wanted to stay in a decent place. Well, Hilton never disappoints. Almost never disappoints. I suggest you check out my review of the Hampton Inn in Hawthorne, California. I liked the photos that I saw on Hilton's website. The historic mission style looking building and the Embassy Suites style lobby with the see thru elevators was attrative to my eyes. Plus the Yelp reviews were mostly positive. So I decided to book the Hampton Inn Centro Historico. I got into Mexico City early that morning. I traveled by train from Felipe Angeles Airport to the Buenavista Station and then walked all the way to the historic district. I saw some guapo guys along the way. So by the time I arrived at the hotel I was pretty beat. That and sweaty. The check in process was quick and easy. I didn't have to wait at all. That lady who checked me in seemed to know her job well and made the check in process run smooth. I wouldn't say she was the friendliest person as she never once smiled. But she wasn't rude either. So the room I was given was on the 1st floor which is actually one floor up. It was a decent room. Very clean and tidy. It was a little bit smaller compared to other Hampton Inn's I've stayed in. But it wasn't a cracker box either. So no real complaints with the size. Everything worked properly. The lights turned on. The AC blew cool air. The toilet flushed. The shower had nice warm water that shot out with a decent amount of pressure. The wifi connected easily and was pretty fast which was good for video editing. So far so good eh? The only real complaint I had with the room was there was no mini fridge or microwave. That was a bit of a let down. Having a mini fridge and microwave in your room is pretty standard with a Hampton Inn. Or at least it has been with every one I've ever stayed in. So that was a bit disappointing. Not enough to make me not want to stay there again. But honestly, it is the only reason why I'm not giving this property a 5 star review. Now let's talk about the breakfast. Your stay at this hotel comes with a complimentary breakfast which is standard with the Hampton Inn brand. It was a good hearty breakfast. All buffet style which I like. They had scrambled eggs, sausage links, spanish rice, waffles, hot and cold cereal, bread, muffins, etc. Plus there was fresh juices and coffee. I went with the coffee which was hot and fresh and definitely helped kick my morning off. The dinning room was spacious and even had electrical outlets so you can charge your devices while you eat. Something I want to share with you all real quick is that while I was eating my breakfast, I looked up and noticed noticed Donald Trump's image on the big flat screen TV that was in the dinning room. It was actually Fox News. WTF! I would never in my wildest dreams expect to see Fox News in Mexico. Seeing Trump's scowling face made me lose my appetite. Ha, ha. Just kidding. All in all I would say that my expierence at the Hampton Inn Centro Historico was pleasent. It was definitely a good expierence. My only suggestion would be that the next time management has a meeting, they discuss the topic of adding mini fridges and microwaves to the rooms. At that point, I will most surely change my 4 star review to 5 stars. But whether that happens or not, I would stay at this hotel again and would reccomend it to other travelers. I liked that there…read morewas security at the front, they required key card access to enter the venue, and had 2 restaurants within a close proximity to choose from--seafood and one that had a bit of everything including breakfast to dinner. There was also a room service option too. We were greeted promptly and a bellman assisted with our luggage. We were quite a bit early (at least 3 hours before regular check in time). We almost put our luggage in storage, but they were able to accommodate us with a very early check in and complementary water to go with our room (Diamond Elite status). The rooms are extremely dated but are pretty comfortable--ours had a queen bed, desk and chair, lights, tv, drawers, attached bathroom and shower, ironing board, safe, and spots to hang our clothing. We also had an ice bucket and coffee machine with glassware. Unfortunately, no mini fridge. The only issue I had was with the semi-working ac since it wasn't the strongest and also seemed to work only half the time. If we would've opted for maid/cleaning service each day they would've replaced our waters (we found out from the front desk). We were on the top floor (6th), but noticed there was a lower level outdoor section we could access as an almost wrap around balcony. There was also a laundry area (complementary), basic gym--treadmill, stationary bike, free weights, elliptical--(open 24hrs) and a business office area. The breakfast was open from 6am-10am. They had coffee, tea, water, juice available. Along with a waffle station, cereal, fruit, oatmeal, a bread/pastry section, and some hot food items--rotating items daily (Mexican and US_Western type food like chilaquiles, bacon, sausage, eggs, etc). The food was ok, but they definitely were on top of it when it came to replenishing any empty items. The lobby area was nice, spacious, and homey with couches and a huge stained glass window on the top. The building has tons of historical value and was nice since we were located in the city center/downtown. It was fairly easy to catch a cab or uber from here and it was within walking distance of a ton of stuff. Great spot and pretty secure. Definitely worth a return visit!

But it did not feel dead, right away we were at ease. The rooftop bar is classy yet relaxing and you could easily see the skies and the chaos on the ground floor. There were only 2 other couples there and we felt like we robbed this city if some square footage of privacy and tranquility. You forget you were just dashing to catch a light and almost got ran over by a motorcycle just 10min ago. Drinks: The drinks were approximately $10 USD for pretty high end crafted cocktails with pretty sophisticated garnishes. Having picked up making cocktails as my COVID hobby, I can truly appreciate the amount of work put in with such low prices. Service: Though they did not speak much English, we were able to communicate easily with the English menu. Our servers rotated and were very attentive and helped us with the Wi-Fi. We came with a group to watch Lucha Libre and BOY did we have a blast. The arena is huge, it was PACKED, and the crowd is honestly half the experience. Everyone is cheering, booing, screaming, and completely invested in the matches. You can yell your heart out and just have fun with it exactly my kind of environment. They sell beer, micheladas, clamatos/clamatadas, water, snacks, and plenty of things to keep you going throughout the night. This was easily one of the most fun things we did in CDMX. The wrestlers, the costumes, the crowd, the drama 10/10 entertainment. I genuinely cannot wait to come back and watch more Lucha Libre! ‍

Lucha libre at Arena México: Not my thing, but absolutely worth doing once…read moreLet me be upfront: wrestling is not my thing, and Lucha Libre is very clearly staged. Every dramatic fall, every perfectly timed reversal, every villain move telegraphed to the back row. None of that matters, because the moment you walk into Arena México on a Friday or Sunday night, you stop being a spectator and become part of something genuinely unlike anything else you will ever experience. Picture shiny masked wrestlers flying in and out of the ring, the sound of bodies hitting the mat reverberating through your chest in a way that makes you wince despite knowing it is choreographed, midget luchadores in full masks stealing the show, and an audience that is loud, hilarious, and completely committed to every moment. The crowd alone is worth the ticket. People cheering, swearing, laughing, and screaming with an energy that is infectious regardless of your feelings about wrestling. Each fight is structured around two sides: the rudos, the theatrical bad guys, and the técnicos, the heroes of the evening. The drama is intentional and the crowd plays along beautifully. A few practical recommendations worth taking seriously: Get VIP tickets on the second floor center of the arena. They include dinner at your table, pastor tacos, hot dogs, fries, and cake, nothing spectacular but convenient and included in the price. Drinks are purchased separately. For souvenirs, skip the store inside the arena entirely. The selection is limited and the prices are not in your favor. Instead, arrive early and browse the street vendors set up around the arena before the show. You will find t-shirts, masks, capes, and keychains of your favorite luchador at much better prices. Negotiating is expected and welcomed everywhere except one vendor selling high quality silk screen print t-shirts at 250 pesos, roughly $15 USD. That price is firm and the quality justifies it. Find that vendor and buy the shirt. Now for the honest part that no travel guide will tell you clearly enough. Arena México is located in a neighborhood that requires awareness and caution. Go with locals if at all possible. They will know where to park, how to move around, and how to navigate the area in a way that keeps the evening fun rather than stressful. Stay aware of your surroundings at all times. And if someone suggests Arena Coliseo, the other Lucha Libre venue in the city that runs Saturday nights, politely decline. The neighborhood there is even rougher and not worth the risk. Three stars for the overall experience given the safety concerns and the underwhelming food, but the show itself is a promise of pure unscripted fun that delivers every single time. Go once. You will not regret it.

This may or may not be one of my favorite things that we did in CDMX. I bought the tickets on Ticketmaster 2 weeks beforehand and we were able to sit in the first row on the third level for only $15. Here are some of my favorite parts of the act: - I love that there is not only an emphasis on dancers but also on Mexican music and song as well. - I loved the variety of dances that were performed. Each one was so different from the rest and reading about it later on, I learned that the original founder of the group placed an emphasis on displaying different regional Mexican dances. - The mariachi band was probably one of the best I have ever seen. Each musician was incredibly talented in not only their own instrument but also in their voices as well. The harpist especially played each notes so clearly and it was beautiful to listen to. - I love how coordinated the dancers were and the way that the utilize the stage was something that I really appreciate. They were able to do some many cool formations and move through the stage so gracefully. - I appreciate that there is no intermission and they go from start to finish as I think it could've lost a bit of stamina if there was a holding period. - The way that the engaged the audience was so fun as they even went to the audience and did a bit of social dance at the end. - I didn't know that Mexican culture also included this taiko like drumming instrument which I highly appreciated. I highly recommend coming as it is also performed in Palacio de Los Bellas Artes which is one of the must visit places in CDMX anyways. Next time I come I will definitely be spending more money to sit closer to the stage.
