He's more confident, has picked up so many new words, is forming sentences, and is becoming more independent every day--it's been beautiful to watch. The staff is incredibly kind, attentive, and thoughtful in how they care for the children and structure their weekly routines. We also really appreciate the monthly lunch menu option--it's affordable, convenient, and includes five meals per week plus snacks, which makes life so much easier. A very special shoutout to his teachers, Ms. Angelica and Ms. Marizol. They have played such a huge role in his growth and development, and it's clear how much care, patience, and intention they bring every day. Another big thank you to the director, Ms. Marissa, who does an amazing job managing the school and ensuring the grounds are always clean, welcoming, and well cared for. She truly goes above and beyond, and it shows in every detail. We're so grateful to have found a place that supports our son's growth in such a nurturing and intentional way. Highly recommend!

Both teachers, Ms. Angie and Ms. Marizol, are truly wonderful with our son. They are encouraging, engaging, patient, and fun. We were told that it can take some children 1-3 months to stop crying after drop-off, but our son stopped crying after just the first week, which speaks volumes about the kindness and care they show him. What impressed us even more is how quickly we began to see growth. After just his first week, our son learned to sneeze into his arm, and we've noticed him forming his sentences more and more each day. The school provides weekly curriculum updates, which we love, and they also focus on a monthly book, reinforcing learning in a thoughtful, intentional way. It truly reflects an authentic Montessori learning style. The campus itself is adorable, spacious, and thoughtfully designed for children. The activities offered are precious and intentional, from the Thanksgiving kiddie potluck to Spirit Week and the Christmas recital. Another huge plus is that the school offers lunch and snacks for an additional $100 per month, which is very reasonable and takes a lot of daily stress off parents. The only con I would note is the number of days off throughout the year while still requiring full monthly tuition. This can be challenging, as it requires parents to take multiple days--and even weeks--off work. That said, it is the only downside we've experienced. We initially gave this school 5 stars, and while we still love and appreciate the teachers, it's important to note that a rating reflects the entire experience--including management. Since we don't deal with administration daily, it hasn't impacted us as much, but our confidence in upper management isn't what it once was. It's still a good option overall, especially because of the teachers--but don't expect the same level of excellence across the board.

I can't express how nice everyone is and how well the kids are taken care of. As every parent knows, leaving your child anywhere is always scary, the staff at Hi-Fi has made my fears into pure joy. My almost 2yr old actually likes being dropped off and loves his teacher!! Thank you!!

At the time, my son…read morewas 3 and I wanted to prepare him for preschool, but we were struggling with potty training. I kept telling myself we would enroll once he was fully trained. Months went by and despite our efforts, it just wasn't happening. I started to feel a little hopeless. That's when I finally reached out to the director, Lana, to ask about enrollment and explain our situation. To my surprise and relief, she told me the school actually helps with potty training. I can't even describe the weight that lifted off my shoulders hearing that. From the very beginning, Lana has been incredibly supportive and attentive. She truly cares about the children and their families, and she is always quick to respond whenever parents have questions or concerns. Whether it's communication, guidance, or reassurance, she is always there and you can feel how invested she is in the kids and the school community. At the time, my son was also speech delayed and had dangerously low iron levels because he wasn't eating well. He relied heavily on milk and refused most solid foods. As a parent, it was incredibly stressful and worrying. But after enrolling him here, things began to change. Within just a month, I started seeing dramatic improvements. His vocabulary began to grow and he started eating better. After two months, he was fully potty trained something I once thought would take forever. Fast forward to today, he's turning 5 and is now in TK. Watching how much he has grown since those early days is truly amazing, and I credit so much of that progress to the incredible teachers here. He started in the 3-year-old preschool class with Ms. Susy, Ms. Joori, and Ms. Andrea, who were so patient and nurturing. Now in the older class, Ms. Erica and Ms. Joelyn continue to be just as supportive, caring, and attentive. Every teacher we've encountered has been phenomenal and truly treats the children like their own. The school also creates such special memories for the kids; there are field trips a few times a year and the sweetest holiday performances where parents get to watch the kids sing and perform. Those moments are priceless. This school helped my son grow in ways I honestly didn't think were possible at the time. For that, I will always be grateful.

Choosing South Bay Montessori was one of the best decisions we made as parents, and we feel incredibly grateful for the loving, clean and nurturing environment created by the teachers, staff, and director ( Ms. Evien ). From day one, we knew she was in exceptional hands. All the teachers ( special thanks to Ms. Luna, Ms. Heidy, and Ms. Angie ) at South Bay Montessori are truly priceless. Their love, dedication, and individualized attention helped our daughter grow not only academically but also emotionally. She gained knowledge, confidence, and independence while being surrounded by warmth and genuine care every day. As working parents, there was nothing more reassuring than knowing she was safe, happy, and well cared for every day. That peace of mind meant the world to us. The school is wonderfully organized and guided by a thoughtful educational approach that balances strong academics with kindness and support. The teachers, staff, and director go above and beyond to create a community that truly feels like an extension of family. South Bay Montessori is more than just a school -- it is a place where I see that all children are loved, respected, and encouraged to become their best selves. As our daughter graduated in 2025, saying goodbye was truly bittersweet. South Bay Montessori has played such an important role in our daughter's early years and has left a lasting impact on our family. We will always be deeply thankful for the love, guidance, and education she received at SB Montessori. South Bay Montessori will always hold a very special place in our hearts, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to any family looking for a truly exceptional Montessori experience.

When we moved out of the area so that my son started kindergarten, that is when we unenrolled. I really like the balance between indoor/outdoor time and also between structured/open play. There is a lot of free open play built into the day's schedule which I like because the kids get to interact with each and build friendships. At the same time, there is also structure and routine. A typical day is as follows (this is when my children were enrolled so maybe this has changed a bit, you'll have to check with the school): before 9 am is open play. Lots of Montessori style toys and activities for kids to choose from. 9-11 am is academics with children being grouped by age. Their curriculum is age appropriate for that group. 11-1 pm is lunch and open play outside. The outside has plenty of space plus a playground plus flowers/plants and other items to play with. 1-2:30 pm is nap time for those who still nap. Nap is a separate building in the back away from the kids that no longer sleep so the kids can rest undisturbed. If they no longer nap, then there is an art/craft activity, spanish class, music class and/or another learning activity for those kids. 2:30-3:30 pm is open play and a snack break. I think they also offer extended care 3:30 pm - ? but I didn't have the kids in extended care, so I am not sure about the experience. I would imagine there is more open indoor/outdoor play. The teachers there have been there for many years. They are very sweet and caring but also have rules and safety expectations. They are attentive and they tune into what they see throughout the day. They will share important information or behaviors that they pick up on from your child and they will communicate. I also would go to them for advice if I was struggling with language or behaviors at home and they often would have very helpful tips to help me work on that and it often worked. This place is a very clean!! The kids are constantly washing their hands from the first moment they walk in the door and throughout the day. This place will be an amazing environment for your children. They will make strong friendships and also will be ready for elementary school. It is run by very great teachers, and it is affordable compared to all the other Montessori type schools in the area. I know because i looked into all of them and researched and compared. I was surprised that there are not a larger or students enrolled, but i think the reason is that Torrance Montessori is not an app-based school and/or a social media school. This school functions with good old fashion phone calls/and or speaking in person. My children both had a great experience here and they still have playdates with friends that they met here. I am glad I found this school when I did.

It has taken me a little over a month to rewrite this review…read more Initially, we were prepared to air out all of the details of our experience. However, on our son's last day, Mrs. Roman apologized and showed genuine remorse, even gifting our son a parting gift. Because of that gesture, we held off on posting our revised, updated experience until now. After our son left a little over a month ago, we realized we needed to be honest about why we chose to withdraw him. Our decision came down to two major factors: 1. Constant teacher turnover. Since our son began attending in January, he had around seven different teachers. Even though there are two teachers assigned at a time, it makes no sense to have four major staffing changes between January and October. That instability directly affects children, especially infants and toddlers who need consistency. 2. If you question anything, the environment shifts immediately. The moment you raise concerns or ask for clarification, the school takes it personally. The warmth disappears. You are ignored from multiple teachers, since they all talk, given the cold shoulder, and treated as an inconvenience. It is extremely uncomfortable to drop off your child each day knowing the people you're entrusting them to, no longer like you, respect you, or even acknowledge you. If you can afford to spend a little more on a better environment, we genuinely recommend it. And even then, after our son left, we continued hearing from multiple parents and former staff (several, not just one or two) that these issues are ongoing. Teachers have shared that they have been spoken to in a disrespectful manner, with some even mentioning they've witnessed others cry. Families have also mentioned the emotional impact that the constant teacher changes have on their babies, who are repeatedly forced to adjust to new faces every few weeks. These problems stem from the top. Khan is not who she portrays herself to be during tours. On two different occasions, she expressed how upon a teacher's departure, the teacher took half of the families with her and each time I asked her why, she said she did not know, well, now we know why. We experienced this directly when she wanted to stop feeding our son instead of clarifying a simple lunch question. (We did not allow for her to deny our son school lunch and they continued to feed him). When leadership cannot retain or support teachers, it directly trickles down to the children--every single time. We've also been told the school allegedly cleans with laundry detergent, water, and Pine-Sol, which raises concerns about exposing babies to unnecessarily harsh chemicals. And many parents are familiar with and annoyed at that " Happy tots smell" We truly wanted to move forward, especially after Mrs. Roman's apology, and we still appreciate the kindness she showed on our son's last day. But we also feel a responsibility to other families. Ironically, we've heard better things about the sister school around the corner, but this particular location continues to face the same longstanding issues. Good leadership starts at the top. And that is exactly where this school is failing.

My 3 year old went there for a month of their summer camp and came back speaking much more Chinese (she was speaking just a little before) since the environment made her a lot more comfortable with the language. The school's facilities and rules are well thought out and designed, with a regular schedule for instruction, activities, snacks, napping and free play. There's a lot of hands on activities and crafts, which my little one loved and enjoyed showing me when she got home. I really liked how well thought out the lessons are and how many demonstrations and experiments the little ones are encouraged to do. The parent community is also warm and supportive! Pros: - Great teachers - Lots of individualized attention - Well thought out curriculum and hands on activities - Great outdoor area for play (including a treehouse!) - Very good app that the teachers update daily with pictures of the kids, this is great and made me feel like I'm there at the school with my child Cons: Smaller parking lot (may be challenging in the morning)

The director there is an experienced elementary school teacher who is very considerate and thoughtful for situations such as my child's eating habit and bathroom usage. They have hands on activities, outdoor activities for lessons, celebrate different festivals as well as nap schedule, which is essential for the little ones. Myself, is also an elementary bilingual teacher, and I love that they differentiate the lessons for the kids to meet their developmental needs. My daughter started in Room 2, where Ms. Tracy helped potty train her (which I'll always be grateful for), and has since transitioned into Toddler Room 5 with the lovely Nancy. Ms. Dani, who floats around the classrooms is so loved, she's an amazing assisting teacher and an extra helping hand wherever it's needed, and it makes such a difference. The enrichment programs are also a huge bonus...Mandarin and Spanish classes, plus gymnastics and dance during recess, are things you don't find everywhere and add so much to the kids' experience. Whether you plan to continue on to public school (and we're lucky to have some of the best in Palos Verdes) or move on to a competitive private school, your child will be in great hands here.
