If you're traveling between Killarney / Kerry region to the Cliff's of Moher the Fahre Tarbert-Killimer Ferry will reduce significantly reduce your travel time. It's a short, 20 minute car ferry across the scenic River Shannon. The alternate overland route would be an additional 1-2 hours through Limerick, Shannon, and Ennis. They will also offer a local touch of Irish life past and present. So if time is on your side you should visit them as well. Time wasn't with us & our tour bus. A little fresh air on the deck of the ferry while watching the river and it's nautical traffic flow is enchanting. On-board a snack bar and facilities for ease the urge.

Quick 20 minutes ferry ride from Dingle peninsula, Tarbert to Killimer. It's a good and fast way to visit the Cliff Moher from Dingle. Most people wait till get out of the car. I got out and walked upstairs to take pictures when nobody was around. The ferry has doors on the both sides, so it can load cars when you arrive. It's very efficient.
We used this Ferry to save time during our journey from Galway to the Cliffs of Moher. This is basic and efficient transportation, which includes a small canteen, a "lounge" cabin, and fun views (on top) as we crossed to the other side. Gayle and I could have stayed in the bus, but it was more fun to wander and see. read more

We used this ferry on the way to the Cliffs of Moher. Nothing fancy. It just cuts our commute time and it was a nice scenic ride. They had look out areas up top. They had a small concession area selling snacks and drinks. read more
If you like the longer scenic route, the road and byways are better for you, this to cut the 1.5 hour drive to the Cliffs of Mohr down to about 20 or so minutes. Our tour group and bus was traveling from the Killarney / Kerry region to the Cliff's of Moher, thus why we opted to take the Fahre Tarbert-Killimer Ferry, which reduced our ride by a little over an hour. It's only a short, 20 minute ferry across the River Shannon. There is some on-board snack and bar and facilities too. It's an easy ride to the Mohr's. The ride is tranquil and well worth looking out at the scenery along the way. read more
