Buckleys is a newsagent that has in recent years been bought over by a local family. The previous…read morefamily do still live in Lossiemouth but have since retired. Currently the owners run the newsagent themselves and are very friendly, and you can regularly find them working in the shop themselves. All other staff are also very welcoming and happy to have a quick chat while you are buying your papers. Papers can be reserved or ordered in specifically. They stock both Scottish and English papers and delivery is available widely. Gifts for children can be bought here all year round, and the range is widened to adults during the Christmas period. They also have a wide range of cards available throughout the year.

Magical is the perfect word to describe this incredible bookshop! Shelves upon shelves of used…read morebooks to peruse while enjoying the cozy ambiance set by the fireplace crackling away in the center of it all - surrounded by Victorian style stained glass and decorative accents! And top it off with a spiral staircase - awesome vibes! The shop is family owned and located inside a very historic building that was once the Old Gaelic Church and was built in 1649! The books are organized by genre and then alphabetically by author's last name - so it's easy to browse. The extensive collection of antique prints is also quite impressive! Many of them well over 100 years old and all very surprisingly priced - covering various subjects including nature and historic maps! Fascinating pieces of history! I could easily spend hours here digging through them all - and the books too. The walkways are narrow and there are steps leading up into the entrance so it's definitely not handicap accessible. There's also an overflow of books piled on the floor in various places - it appears they sometimes run out of room on the shelves so that compounds the narrow situation. There were several people coming in with large baby strollers and it created chaos as no one could get by lol. Staff are helpful and friendly. They also sell nice tote bags with the shop name. I found several vintage cookbooks from the famous Le Cordon Bleu so I had to have those - also found a Victorian novel that looked ancient with a very intriguing introduction so I had to have that as well. We found a couple of silly antique prints of extinct birds from 1876 that we couldn't resist - excellent souvenirs! If you love bookstores, Leakey's is a MUST!! Unforgettable!
