Came in for lunch and received an unpleasant experience. Upon walking in we were given looks like we were bothering them. Very off putting vibe/energy. When there was a mixup on the order, I ordered chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce and was given cheese enchiladas with sour cream sauce , the manager/Head chec came out and said "you confused the server when you ordered so that's why you got the cheese. Here is the chicken enchiladas". I said "No, sir the confusion wasn't on my end, I pointed and read off what I wanted, which was chicken enchiladas." He put my plate down, blamed me again, and walked off. I didn't expect an apology, but never have I been confronted and blamed for a mix up on the order. Extremely weird. Me and my wife came in smiling and in a good mood and was extremely nice to the server. We left feeling the exact opposite. Came here Saturday night for my friend's birthday dinner. There were six of us. The restaurant itself was a cozy atmosphere. It wasn't super busy when we got there so that was nice. The server was very nice and was very attentive when we needed him. The house margarita was very good....not to strong, not too weak just right! I had the Sofia's platter for my dinner which had beef and chicken nachos, chicken flautas, mini quesadillas and mini brisket chimichanga. The food was good the only thing I can say is there was too much refried beans on the nachos so all it tasted like was refried beans. My favorite was the mini quesadillas though. We did have a snafu as the person who's birthday it was she had to return her food as it was not good. So that was disappointing as we were all there for her and all she was able to have was chips and salsa as she didn't want try anything else at that point and a margarita but the restaurant took care of it. We have been meaning to try Gabriela & Sofia's for some time now, as we have heard wonderful things. And I will say that the food is delicious...so flavorful and tasty. The service was also great! My husband was disappointed that there were not any beers on tap (bottles only), but they had a delicious mixed drink menu. However, we were very disappointed in the atmosphere. We seated towards the back of the restaurant in direct line of sight of behind the "bar" where an employee's child was playing and a great view of ketchup bottles (who wants ketchup in a Mexican restaurant). Gabriela & Sofia's is in the $$ to $$$ price range, and at this price point ambiance should be continuous throughout the restaurant. Nice little spot in Flower Mound. Started out with the jalapeño Magarita and it didn't disappoint. I think they use some type a frozen jalapeño ball bc I encountered it after I finished my drink. It was a nice little frozen, spicy treat. Complimentary chips and salsa dips. Chips were very crispy which suited my style. I preferred the bean dip over the others. I tried something new with the Mole Chicken enchiladas. The mole sauce wasn't my style but they were packed with chicken so I just ate the guts. The portion was great for the price! The brisket was on the saltier side, but it was still delicious nonetheless. I've had Hispanic meats that tasted straight up like a salt brick, but this was good. A good salty. The salad and rice were delicious, wow, I ate that up. Complimentary nachos came with three dips. The salsa verde was perfect for me because it wasn't spicy at all! It was delicious. I came alone, so I guess the server didn't bother me a lot out of respect. I like that. It was good for me, and I could always wave them down whenever I needed. They kind of have an "open kitchen" so you can see what they're doing. The servers and chefs have a good relationship as far as I could see. All hardworking staff doing honest work. Took my mom and family to the Flower Mound location for a birthday celebration. We have eaten at the location in North Dallas and it was a good experience. I accidentally found this place just driving by on my way to work. I believe the menu is more tex than mex and that's ok. The more Texan entrée is usually easier to execute and the flavors are more consistent across other restaurants. The prices are fair and the portions are large enough. The dining room is quaint and quiet offering a relaxed atmosphere. The service has been great with the Flower Mound location being a bit better. But, service at the Dallas location went above and beyond when they were told that this was our first visit. Just a great place to relax with a cold beverage and some good food. read more

Restaurants that call Parker Square home seem to change with the seasons. It's unfortunate, but there are still a few mainstays around like Gabriela & Sofia's. The fact that they have become successful in such an unforgiving environment is a testament to the quality of their food and service. Once you're seated they get the party started by bringing out thick, warm tortilla chips along with 3 different dips - a spicy red salsa, a milder verde salsa and black beans. Raise your hand if you're like me and tend to fill up on these before your entree arrives. On our last visit we were an extra hungry bunch so we ordered the table side guacamole as an appetizer. I will say that it took a long time for the server to prepare, but of course, good things come to those who wait! It was well crafted and very tasty. Despite being nearly full I still really enjoyed my cheese and chicken enchilada dinner. The sauces in particular were outstanding. Also, it was large enough for me to take home an entire meal from what was left. My husband wasn't quite as crazy about his combo fajitas. It was too heavy on the onions and light on the meat. All of it could have used a little more time on the grill as well. There would be no encore of this meal in his future. Gabriela & Sofia's is reliably good, I still really like the dip trio they bring out with the chips as an appetizer. The green salsa is amazing! Their tortilla soup is still a go-to for me; brothy, plenty of chicken, soothing. Delicious when paired with some picoso table side guacamole! Service is pretty regularly good, too, we are able to go for an evening dinner with family and take our time or go for a weekday lunch and get in and out in less than an hour. We arrived a bit early so there wasn't a wait, but you may want to add your name to the list when you arrive just in case there is a wait. Additionally, there is seating available inside and outside of the restaurant. We were seated and were immediately brought chips & 3 different dips (salsa, green tomatillo sauce & bean dip). The chips are so addicting and the bean dip was my favorite out of the 3 dips. I then ordered the Danny's Dinner (two chicken & spinach enchiladas topped with sour cream sauce and served with a side of rice & beans). The sour cream sauce made this dish unbelievably good. Wanted to try a new place and found this place on Yelp with high ratings. They greeted us warmly when we entered the establishment and the service was great. The salsas also were tasty, even the extra spicy salsa we requested. My food was good and my husband enjoyed his as well. Four star is because of the food. Not recommended. The near five star reviews sold me on the notion of trying out this place. However performance was disappointing. The price performance ratio just isn't there mostly because the performance was lacking. Service was slow. In this case we find previous yelp reviews to be misleading. The food was OK but not great. This is a bit perplexing given the high ratings this place enjoys. There were three in our party. Two ordered Carne Asada, one ordered ribeye fajitas. All ordered their meat cooked medium rare. All entrees arrived near-well done. At this establishment, the meat is served on top of grilled vegetables which makes getting at the veggies a bit annoying. Overall, our biggest observation about this dining experience is most of foods and drinks were tasteless. The margaritas had little no alcohol or flavor. Our Guacamole side had no distinctive taste. The Ribeye taste was distinct but it was not integrated with the veggies. The Carne Asadas lacked the marinated seasoning and were tasteless. Service was lackluster until we were seated. Our waiter was terrific but spoke little English. We waited for 15-minutes to be seated---there was no hosted/hostess. One in our party was on crutches with no where to sit. We found out from our waiter 4-wait staff didn't show up for work. I suppose the COVID halo effect impacts performance st this business. We'll be back to the Dallas Fort Worth area.. Pretty solid Tex-mex spot but the only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because of how salty my dish was. Service was great, they have lots of seating inside and outside. The outdoor is recommended when the weather is nice out! The complimentary chips and 3 diff salsas was a huge plus! I forget what dish I got but its the one with shrimp and veggies all sautéed with rice. It was really tasty but soooo salty. I actually saw the salt grains on the shrimps and veggies. I wish I could've finished it but I couldn't bc of all the sodium. My fam and friends that were there with me enjoyed their dish a lot! We love this place but this time we had a party of 6 adults and 4 kids. Service was very slow, we asked for 4 kids drink but only got three. After waiting, I signaled at two different servers and they did not bother to ask. Finally our server came and we asked him to bring 4th drink. We usually ask for molcajete salsa as it's hot and have never been charged. This time salsa Was very runny and we got charged 13.50. We asked for manager and explained it to him and he took $12 off but added 20% gratuity which was not there on first check. The food was good.
