Buyer Beware! I made an order on June 30,2023, it's now August 22 and nothing. I've tries calling and when I did get through (about 2 weeks ago) they said it was getting ready to ship. I wish I could recount a positive experience with dishonest, indifferent employees at Gainsville Coin. My initial call and purchase were fine. I ordered 4 monster boxes (not a small order) October 28th and was told there was a shipping delay and the coins would ship November 17th. I accepted this and sent funds. November 17th came and went. No updates, NO COINS. I called and was told there were more delays because of hurricanes (bs. And the icing on the cake...The USPS won't deliver monster boxes(too heavy), so you must pick them up at the Post Office! I realize silver is in short supply these days, and delays among sellers are common, but as of April 11, still no indication that my order has been processed. I chose the option to pay by bank wire, and it is true they have not charged my bank account yet. However, a delay of 19 days is unacceptable and indicates they did not have the silver on hand, nor was it in their supply chain. Silver prices have fluctuated a lot in the last 19 days, but I am still locked into the price that was current on March 23. If they can't deliver the product in less time than this, then their website should say the item is not in stock. FAIR WARNING - DO NOT BUY HERE Yes, good prices on what they have in stock. Website is well done and the order process online all seems to work very well, 5 stars. However that is where everything stops, as soon as a human is involved things go south. Their internal process of verifying who I was took 1/2 hour of my time. They called on the phone and said they were going to cancel my order unless I called them back within 24 hours. No big deal but then I called ex 333 and nobody home so I left a message. Then I get some zero personality person on the phone and she calls my bank, not my bank calling them as my bank was fine with the transaction, so they waste my time and the banks time. She calls the wrong department, then she gets someone else on the line who confirms I am me. The transaction had days before already been debited from my account so why this exercise? I then get another email saying my order was going to be canceled if I did not call them within 24 hours so they could verify who I am, again. I emailed them back and simply said please cancel my order as this is too much brain damage. I then get a smug email from the so called customer service person and she threatens me with a 5% cancelation fee. Serious? This was my first order and no I am not a whale of a client. This was my first (and will be the last!) transaction with Gainesville Coins. I now see they are ranked near the bottom of on-line dealers, and can see why. They offered, in early April, 2022, a deal on new silver rounds at a very fair price, and I ordered 120 of them, with the stipulation that they would not be shipping them for another two weeks (April 28). I ordered on 20th, sent a check, which was immediately cashed. Today is May 23, and after I called (MY SECOND CALL, BY THE WAY) and cancelled my order, they informed me that I could, but that I would have to take a $283.00 loss if I did so, since the market went down. ??? They had use of my money, and did not ship! They "got with shipping" while I was on the phone, and "discovered" that my rounds were to have been shipped three days ago, and 'did I want them to go ahead and send me an email and ship them?' Be prepared! If you do business with these guys, this is what you can expect. I have NEVER had ONE problem with other on-line companies, which so far include Golden State, JD Bullion, Monument, Apmex, SD Bullion, Provident, CMI, and, my very favorite, Silver Gold Bull. i ordered a couple hundred oz of silver from them on the last july. i still have not received my order!!!!!! i understood that the order would take 30 days per the estimated delivery date at time of ordering which i was ok with. when that passed i had not received a single e-male from them i tried daily to contact them unsuccessfully. i finally got a hold of a live person and when i asked when my shipment would be sent she couldn't offer any information, zero......info. all i got was their doing their best to fill orders. at the time of ordering they showed all products in stock. since that call that i initiated i have had no contact at all from them, not even a contact e-mail. yes they have a very low premium offer but if you cant get the product it doesn't seem like a good deal. good premium, very bad customer service and unreasonable shipping of product time. this is a poor business model. they suck you in with low premiums and float your money to build stock or capital and maybe fill the big orders some day. use some place else unless you don't care if you ever get your metals. read more

We ordered gold and silver on 4-13-23 (our original order total was $2,267.71) and were told via phone they did not have the gold and did not know when it would be in. We received our shipment on 6-9-23 and the silver was delivered but NO GOLD was included, which the amount we paid for the gold was $1,148.68. The package was carefully searched and there was no gold. The enclosed statement said "random date" which aligned with what the customer rep told us-that they didn't know when the gold would ship. We waited 6 weeks and still no gold had been delivered so my husband called Gainsville and was told they would investigate and get back within a couple weeks. Over a month later, after still hearing nothing from them and no emails, we called again today and the woman we spoke with said they have pictures of the gold they sent but they will not share their "investigation photos" with us because they said it's for their info only. They are saying we have to launch a police investigation as they are not responsible and then the rep said "Your husband threw it away." When I asked how she would know that and accuse of such, she quickly did some backpedaling trying to distract from that comment. On their website under this order it shows the status bar as "shipped" but the bar does not extend to the completed status which would be "delivered", which in our mind shows even more they do not have the complete order showing as delivered since the gold never shipped. I have a screenshot of that information. We asked for our money back or send the gold and they are unwilling to do either. Lots of 1 star google reviews lately so buyer beware. read more

Customer service manager was fairly rude and abrupt. They act as if the customer is irrelevant. Not ideal if you are in a competitive business. Moreover: If you pay by check, they will allow the check to clear - BUT still wait for 10 BUSINESS DAYS of "processing time" before sending out the goods. So basically: even if they get your check, and it clears, they will still sit on your money for the full 10 business days, and then send out goods. In the banking business this is called "float" (a fancy word for using someone else's money to finance your business for free). Shipping policies are similarly onerous: they will not allow you to use your own shipping and insurance (e.g. Fedex - an equally reputed company relative to UPS and USPS). Will not be buying from them any time soon. Also look at some of the other negative reviews on yelp! Ordered what I needed from Apmex.com for $2 less (when paying by check). The transaction was smooth (despite some negative reviews down there, they might have hired some new people), shipping was also fast. It came in well packed, and silvers well protected. In other words I was sold silver that they didn't have . I've tried e-mailing 4 times now I want too terminate my order so far no response . I'll give them a call in the middle of the week but don't have high expectations . Needless too say Gainesville Coins will not see another order from me . All this hassle over a small 118.00 order . I know it's not much but they are holding my money after selling me products not physically held by them . I ordered a bunch of coins from them in multiple orders. I have been buying/selling from them since 2009. It took them 2+ months to acknowledge my order, on the second email. I was charged a pretty high shipping price, which I didn't complain about, as I was afraid of not getting what I paid. Of the multiple orders, there were 2 they could not fill due to it either being not there in the first place or them having sold it to someone else. If the buyer is late in payment they can potential take your 5% deposit. There are other PM companies that are far more honorable and honest, in my opinion do not buy from this outfit! read more

I'll never buy from these people again. I wired them my money thinking my purchase would be sent within a day or two. It wasn't. I called and inquired about the delay, eventually being two weeks. During the second week I was told twice it would be delivered that day or the next. It wasn't. Also they are not very good about returning phone calls and some girl there seems a bit grumpy and bothered she has to talk to a customer. It wasn't until I started calling the companies that are represented on the Gainesville site and calling some of the local Gold dealers in Florida did I get an immediate response from some so called manager apologizing for the delay. They actually stepped up and up-graded my delivery from regular mail to over night at no extra charge. Seeing the reviews on BBB and Yelp I was getting very concerned about Gainesville especially after talking to some of the other gold dealers in Florida. Drove 20 minutes from downtown Tampa to get there on a recommendation from my favorite downtown jeweler - Hayman Jewelry Company. When I arrived there was one person 'working' there - a security guard eating lunch and staring at his computer. No one acknowledged me at all. There were a couple folks apparently waiting for service. While I was waiting I had a look around what they call a showroom. There was a bunch of crap on display - pretty much looked like a garage sale with nothing of any value or interest on display. After several minutes someone who supposedly worked there came in and helped one of the customers and then called out 'next'. I was there over 10 minutes (I timed it) and no one even said "hello" let alone "we'll be right with you or sorry about the wait". When it seemed obvious my desire to buy a few gold 1 ounce coins during my lunch hour was going to take my entire lunch hour, I left. What a waste of time, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

You complain & they say they will better accommodate your order- they say send back the gold bars. You get the replacement gold bars in the mail and find that they have been open, unsealed and carelessly resealed. You complain and they treat you like dirt. This company doesn't deserve one star.
