Saint Paul's Episcopal is the oldest church in Prince William County. Originally built in 1801 as a…read morecircuit courthouse, the building began use as an Episcopal Church in 1822. During the Civil War, the building was used by the Confederate Army as a hospital, then later by the Union Army as a stable. In recent years, the building and congregation were part of a bitter lawsuit; the parish congregation, unhappy with the spiritual and cultural direction of the Episcopal Church, left the Episcopal Church and aligned themselves with the Anglican Church in North America. After a protracted legal battle, the Episcopal Diocese reclaimed the building from the parish (the vacating congregation, now known as Saint Paul's Anglican, now holds services at Richie Elementary School in Warrenton, Va.) Today, the oldest church in Prince William County is now the newest parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. I have visited there twice and they have dynamic, contemporary worship that is just like you'll get at Hillsong or hear on the radio. Pastor David is as friendly as they come, and they have old, young and many in between in the seats on Saturday night and Sunday mornings. There's no judging, no one cares what you wear or what your background was- they accept you as you are and let you know that God loves you, and so do they. They have small groups, special speakers and lots of opportunity to plug in and see people get lives changed.

It seemed like they were more interested in being the popular church instead of investing in programs for the church. One thing for sure which I felt offended as a guest was the preacher telling us since we live in northern VA that we all could afford a $100 offering. I'm pretty sure some of us cannot dish that sort of money every week. The music is good, the vibe is great, it's well organized for a social event and not a way to get a message. AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING!…read more Park alley church is the BEST church I have EVER attended! I've been attending for 2 years and I couldn't dream of a better place to worship! The stuff makes you feel welcome right away. Everyone is EXTREMELY helpful, the Pastor Barry White give hilarious services. They have 3 services on Sundays 9am, 10am and 11am with a donut buffet, coffee, tea and juices for everyone. They also have service on Saturday at 5pm and offer pizzas. People are helpful in so many ways. Stuff provided meals to my family for 2 weeks when we all had Covid. The children auditorium is amazing ( my 2 girls love it), so much fun! They have so many connect groups for middle schoolers and high schoolers to socialize. They have fun groups for elementary schooler and many small groups of all sort for adults to join and make friends. The list goes on and on... The Church is very spacious and is even building a new Youth center building with a gym, game room ... There are many free events to attend for all occasions with free food (trunk or treat for Halloween, Christmas, Easter)... I attended Chapel Springs since 2010, and I wanted to share the good the bad and the ugly…read more Good - the youth program seemed great! I would have given my right arm for a youth group like that when I was growing up. Two of my kids however didn't like it, and the third one wanted to like it so bad but was not treated very well by some of the young people. It was incredibly clicky and you were ignored and sidelined if you weren't one of the populars. The church also cared about missions, which is good, but I found they didn't care as much about their local flock. Bad - I noticed over the years that the pastoral staff said things about politics that just didn't jive with Biblical concepts. Over time it became more and more clear that they were believers of the liberal news media. Ugly - the straw that broke the camel's back for me was how incredibly little the music pastor said the Sunday after the Charlie Kirk assassination. All he said was, "well, it's been a tough week." And then went on with the rest of the song service. I was stunned! Many people left when the church put a female pastor in charge, which I wouldn't care about, but she seems to be more of a feminist with woke views. I just couldn't attend there anymore.
