It doesn't feel like a commercial RV park--the camping sites aren't stacked on top of each other but rather reasonable spaced. And if you have kids, or adults that are young at heart, there is a great swimming pool and "swimming pond". the General Store is amazing and well stocked. And the milkshakes and biscuits and gravy knock your socks off. Over the top facility and very friendly staff. Great stay, if you're in the Roanoke area and looking for a great place to tent or RV camp don't miss this place!!

That being said , you have to cross a road to get to each side of the campground . All the amenities on one side and some amenities and mostly campers on the other side . 2. I believe they are revamping this particular campground . Well they ve already did that but they are doing it some more again lol . 3. You really need to arrive at this campground during daylight hours . This campground is spread out so you arrive after dark and there is a good chance you will not find it on your own . Applewood Cottage is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. We wanted to get away and go someplace…read morenice and quiet for a few days and this ended up being just what we needed. We arrived after dark so the exact house was a bit hard to find but that made for a fun adventure. The house is large, clean and comfortable. Best of all they have tons of windows providing excellent views. We were able to see multiple deer each morning. The owners were very nice and it is very much appreciated that they allow dogs. The property is away from everything but also not too far away from town making the location perfect.
