Love Gambrinus. One of the most traditional restaurants in Porto Alegre. Traditional Portuguese food. Gambrinus will likely serve you the best cod fish you will have. Their cod salad with potatoes and hard boiled eggs and a healthy amount of olive oil is divine! Staff is amazing, knowledgeable, seasoned and clearly take a lot of pride in the food they serve. The restaurant has been renovated, but kept a lot of its traditions. Highly recommend Gambrinus! read more

Established in 1889.

O Restaurante foi fundado em 1889 por uma confraria de alemães que se reuniam para tomar cerveja e confraternizar. Com o passar dos anos o Gambrinus sofreu algumas modificações que o transformaram em restaurante. Junto com o Mercado Público o Gambrinus passou por reformas nos anos 90 tendo preservado grande parte da arquitetura antiga. Gambrinus é considerado o patrono da cerveja e da alegria.

Finally a restaurant that serves excellent food with great service with an English menu available…read morewith the best English I have seen in my 15 day trip! ( order was right, timely, served with extreme cordiality) excellent decoration, extensive menu options. If you love seafood and want to have a taste of the cuisine of the northeastern part of Brazil while in Porto Alegre you must come to this place. They also have beef, and pork. You won't be disappointed and they definetely have a very extensive menu, meaning, you will find something you will like! We had the "casquinha de siri" made with 100% crab, then we had the "moqueca mixta" with fish, srimp, and crab - the fish was a bit strong for me but the flavors were great and the rest of the table liked the fish ( I am picky, what can I say :) ) for desert we had the "doce de leite tapioca" and the strawberry, sweet condensed milk, and chocolatte tapioca - both came like a crepe made of yucca flower with the feelings. I will try to add pictures.
