I was told that they wouldn't test controllers before they sold them to me because they had no way to test them. They literally have multiples of every system imaginable on display, yet refused to test them before they sold them to me. Do they not test things before they buy them either?? ​Sold me a broken game (doesn't install) I bought for 30$(almost price of the original price when it was released) & refused to refund the money, made zero effort in trying to see if they can fix it or attempt to remedy the issue, just kept pointing at no refunds policy, even when they sold me a broken game The manager literally said "You can't possibly expect us to test all the games we have before we sell them" (this speaks volumes) Normally they are the best ppl to deal with, but obviously staff changed within the last 2 years for the worse(before the pandemic) Bank agreed to refund me the money, so really they lost an additional frequent support in their local area Remember, they "DON'T" test if the product sold to them works or not, keep that in mind if you ever decide to visit read more

I was sold a game that was free to download. The store claims they can't keep up with all the titles that are free. they acted like they didn't know. that is a lie. Anyone in the gaming community knows rocket league is free and has been for quite some time. the clown had the nerve to even steal a trade in, on a free game. I wonder what he did with that? When I moved last fall, I had a TON of DVD's in my possession. It's pretty rare these days that I pull out a dvd and slip it in the ol' PC and watch a movie. Of course, I'd like to make a bit of a return on my investment of movie collecting. I moved near Game Cycle and it was the perfect solution! When I came in, they checked out what I had to offer and gave me two different prices. A monetary value and a credit value. The DVD's were worth more credits than they were in cash so I took a look around. I was so excited when I was able to purchase an extra N64 controller AND Pokemon Snap with the credits I acquired. They have a ton of great games, movies, tv shows, toys, and accessories. They even have guide books for games as well. I'm excited to check out this spot again soon. read more

To start off this would have been a 5 star rating if I was doing this back in 2018 when I first discovered this store. However it has since gone a bit downhill in regards to how they value items. Back in 2018 I remember I traded in loads of games at one time and there was only a 20 dollar difference between the cash offer and instore credit (me being an avid gamer I chose the instore credit and it took me months to spend it all). Now even before the pandemic hit, it seems that if you are going the cash route you are almost better off selling it on Ebay, Kijiji etc as now there is almost a 50 60 dollar gap between the cash option and the instore credit when trading in bulk. I strongly recommend not going the cash route unless you are absolutely desperate for cash. However, with all that being said the staff are always happy to be there and to help with any of your needs and it is a generally a great value for your buck I do recommend going there looking for used games before going anywhere else you never know when you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

First to start off, PROS The staff at this location are friendly, attentive and are very knowledgeable. The video games are sold at market prices and not over priced. CONS: They will low-ball you hard when you are trying to sell your stuff, There purchasing and trade practices lack "integrity" as they do not provide information on what guide they use for valuation. As an example They claim to offer you 60% Trade Value on what they will sell the game for when trading in your used stuff that you no longer want, This is UNTRUE and they are extremely selective on what they offer based on what you are trading, They tend to offer 35% Trade Value and 25% Cash Value on what you bring in. -Pawn Shop Rates- Business operated by staff only, privately owned but owners never work store. Pay a flat rate for DVD's, Treats commons and rare DVD's like they are the same. In short visit Game Cycle to purchase stuff if you are in the area, I would not recommend selling them your merchandise as they are many other competitors who will offer you more for it. read more

Prices are too high on a lot of items, if you have 15 copies of something hidden behind the counter stop hoarding the games and let them be played. I used to shop here a lot but now it's not worth it with the price gouging. read more

This is by far the greatest game store in all the land!!! I go in all the time and they always have something new and something I am looking for. The Tall guy is so helpful and is always there it seems, but he will always help you find what you are looking for because he seems to know everything they have. The young one seems grumpy all the time. If you are looking for a ton of items at awesome prices then i would highly recommend checking them out. It would take hours to check out all the stuff they have. If you are going to check one out go to the wharncliffe one its way better. No help at the other one. I have never had a bad experience at the Original location though so check it out!!!! xoxo read more
