There doesn't seem to be as much going on at this Apple location, again compared to other larger stores, gone is the big LED screen and much of a seating area, but instead, you get the best selection of Apple products in the mall, the store is often well-stocked, in terms of product to demo and buy, and is spacious enough where you can demo the product without feeling crowded or like you are getting in the way. The selection of accessories is also pretty good, as well as the showcase of Apple's latest tech. As you'd expect with any Apple Store, the staff are friendly and their product knowledge is good. It may not be the most attractive Apple Store, but I still really like this one, with friendly staff and always a good selection of products, to demo and purchase. 4*

Brought my laptop to store as screen is glitching. Advised that it will cost £500 to fix, although…read morewas not told specifically what the issue is. They don't know know the issue but they know it will cost £500? This price is ridiculous as I've been advised that the issue could be screen connector to the motherboard, and that it shouldn't cost 500. Even more annoying is that I am still paying for this laptop! Update: Received calls from store about my experience, I asked them to call in the afternoon when convenient but they repeatedly called in the afternoon and now have stopped trying to contact me altogether. Very shoddy customer service. Please call me about my complaint asap. Apple certainly ain't what is used to be! UPDATE: Nearly a month later and I still haven't received my call!! The store is impossible to contact via phone and Apple chat is useless as they cannot do anything! Can the store please answer the phone? UPDATE: A manger was due to call me to help to me get through to the store via phone- yes, they organised a callback so an advisor could ring through to the store using the same tel number I do! It is ridiculous! No email or any other form of contact. I didn't get my callback so once again going through AppleCare. It has taken about 6-8 agents just to make a phone call to an Apple store and none of them has been able to make contact as the store do not answer the phone! Cust service is non-existent with this company! UPDATE: Still not able to contact store, numerous failed callback from managers, and useless Apple Care. All i want to do is speak to your store. Still waiting... UPDATE: Another callback failed!!! Apple Care call you, they cant get through to the store either, and so they leave you on the line holding!! UPDATE: Another failed callback. This company has serious flaws with it's cust service. They are not able to make contact with a store, despite trying for a month. Still waiting for my callback...

My father makes me laugh. Whenever he talks about Maplin, he says, 'You don't want to talk to the…read moreguys on the floor. You want to talk to the ones they keep in the back, they're the experts.' I have to say, whenever I've gone into Maplin when one of the men in my life has been in there, I've always stood by for a good twenty minutes while they engage the assistants in a very technical conversation. Last time I experienced this I was sceptical as I listened, thinking, those questions are way too specific for a sales assistant. How wrong I was. Out came incomprehensible jargon about wattage and cables and warmth and flange. Some of that may have been made up. Oh mercy me. This guy was only a blooming expert. So it's safe to say that Maplin employ people who know what they're talking about. Similarly, ages ago my father was buying some kind of cable that would... do something with the computer and the TV. Again, the guy spoke another language, one my dear dad perfectly understood. The one beef I do have with Maplin is that things seem a tad unnecessarily expensive in there, when it comes to things like adapters for European plug sockets and the like. But as well as a range of intricate electrical goods, fusers, gender changers (gender changers?), they do sell fun stuff, such as electronic gifts for kids and computer table accessories. It's a great little standby that exists in our very own delightful Regent Retail Park, and is a great place to pop in if that essential cable, scart lead or something else electronic isn't available in your average supermarket. The staff are particularly helpful, as I've demonstrated, and the shop is laid out simply and cleanly, making it easy to navigate. As for those experts in the back, well, I do wonder why they keep them there. Perhaps there's a fine line between flash sales assistant and fully-fledged nerd in the world of Maplin (see also, Apple Stores)...
