There are two separate central displays and the rest of the books are on the wall all around the shop. This makes it very easy to get around if you have a buggy or are disabled. There are a range of discount books on every topic imaginable, from childrens books to cookery books to biographies, fiction and much more. Prices are competitive, with books often sold as being damaged (even though you would find it difficult to find something wrong with them). The stock does regularly change, so if I see something I like then I tend to buy it then and there as it might not be there next time i'm in town. Parking is either in the town centre which is fine, but can be a bit difficult carrying heavy books to one of the surrounding car parks.

They also do the lottery and scratch cards and stock a decent range of food. They also sell beer wines and spirits. There opening times are from very Earlie in the morning until 11pm at night. The only disadvantage about this shop is they seem to run on a skeleton staff and you can be waiting ages to get served if someone is doing their lottery but the staff are nice so not all bad.

The store stocks trading cards, board games and puzzles, with a pretty comprehensive selection. Even specialist titles are stocked Biblopoly, anyone? The staff are highly knowledgeable and willing to help with any queries that may arise. Tournaments of various trading card games are held on a regular basis, making Lingard's a hub for Colchester's gaming community. The store is one of my all-time favourites and is highly recommended for both gifts and specialist games a well-deserved five stars. Just awesome, really.

You walk through the door and straight into a long rail of mixed and confused clothing. Around the walls are brand new items - such as gift bags and cards. The really interesting things are in a strange little ante-chamber in the back. The prices here are still ok and haven't inflated like a lot of charity shops in the area. Still, its design does make you want to leave as soon as you've walked in. It's an uncomfortable shop to be in - which is a shame because it's for a very good cause.

DVDs are similarly priced, making for huge savings in the long run. Second-hand electronics are also available, which I have never had any issues with over the past ten or so years. Staff are always helpful and welcoming, which is more than can be said for some larger, more famous stores. In all, a brilliant shop for cheap entertainment, even if it is somewhat far from the town centre itself five stars.

I love this charity shop. It has managed to retain everything that's good about second hand…read moreshopping. The prices are low enough to compete with car boot sales and the stock is very varied. You can find some lovely old books here too. It's my favourite place to go for vintage clothing. The shop is a bit tucked away at the end of the high street. Perhaps that's why I've always managed to find something really wonderful here. Do make the effort to walk round the corner. It's a well run, friendly shop and you never know what you might find.

However, many of the books are cheap for a reasoon and could be found in the neighbouring charity shops for much cheaper. However, there are some gems to be found, so perserverance is the order of the day. In all, good value if you are willing to hunt.
