It's kind of crazy how much stuff is packed in here. For me, when traveling, I always like to try to check out any CD stores, if I can find one, and this one...ok, I get it, captive audience, there aren't too many places at all with physical locations selling CDs these days, most brick and mortars have long since moved online or threw in the sponge after Amazon, etc. started dominating that market space. Still, throwing close to $20 at any new CD is a tough pill to swallow. So, even if you don't ultimately pick anything up, this is a pretty cool place to just go to and browse...if you're looking for that sort of one thing that you just have to have, chances are pretty good if you spend enough time here, you'll find it. I was short of time and didn't have as much to hang as I wanted, but I imagine I'll be back...

Like another place in Elko that has a hodge podge of stuff, I imagine you might have to, given the area and all, here we have primarily a comic book store, with a very deep selection of back issues, much lighter selection of trades, action figures, toys, board games, plastic models and supplies for modeling, including paints, used CDs, LPs, DVDs and I imagine some stuff that I probably missed trying to see it all. Layout is a bit...I will charitably call it haphazard, but if you're looking for diamonds in the rough, changes are very good you will find it here if you spend the time. I came across a number of things I hadn't seen in years and a few I didn't know existed at all, just via casual browsing. Prices don't seem to be marked particularly well, but the staff is quite nice and helpful. All in all, if you need a comic fix, this is the spot and I'd rank it solidly in the middle, maybe on the higher side of the middle, of all the places I've been...just hope they are able to expand into a bigger space.

If you never will find yourself in Elko, Nevada, you can always visit her website or follow her on social media. Either way, you will smile and want to buy something. I discovered the Buckaroo Boutique via Instagram a few years back and have purchased and followed Thaysha and her store on-line ever since. To my delight while in Elko last week for the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, I discovered there is a stand alone store in Elko as well to visit. I was advised it open about two years ago. Located directly beside The Star Hotel with plenty of street parking about, please note that the Buckaroo Boutique is not open every day. Thaysha runs a ranch with her husband and is raising little kids, so duty calls first. You can shop on-line anytime, you can only shop in her story during certain times, so be sure to call first before you head on over. DARLING! UNIQUE! COWBOY! Such a cute little store and Thaysha is so welcoming and just downright hospitable and fun. She sells such cool unique western themed t-shirts, jewelry, scarves, hats, home goods and clothing, you probably will walk out with a something for yourself or a gift for someone. Her store is cool and whimsical, small and charming. I was thrilled in my haul to find a few shirts, a beautiful leather like fringed scarf and a super cute long necklace with a colorful cowboy medallion attached (I have decided to call this cute cowboy around my neck Cowboy Dan!). To my delight, I also bought some delicious local raw nuts sold by the bag as well. I love coming to Elko once a year for the Gathering. I now know my future visits to Elko will not be complete without a visit to the Buckaroo Boutique. Go see for yourself and tell Thaysha I said hello!

Our room at the Best Western was not in fact the best, so we headed to downtown for drinks before…read moredinner. The Duncan Littlecreek Gallery Bar was perfect for us, as we always check-out the art museum when we travel. Sat at the old historic bar and also wandered thru the galleries while enjoying craft cocktails and local beer. Savannah was wonderful, sharing history of the bar and of Elko. So sad for the regulars, as she was working her last week. The Walden's Pond was good, even though they were out of basil. There were nice choices for drafts. Trivia Night started before we could depart and the bar filled up with locals. It was a fun evening!

This small but mighty bar and art gallery is a cozy and friendly place to go for wine and/or…read morecocktails and beer. We've attended many small gatherings here over the years, but also find it a special downtown spot to relax for a half hour or so before heading home. Because we live 25 minutes from Elko, we tend to go to DLC in the late afternoon/early evening, but they have activities and sometimes live music later. Go! You won't be sorry.
