The doors were already locked and an older blonde woman promptly waved through the door that they were closed. She came over to the door when we continued to stand there, and we pleaded to her to let us run in and buy a coffee mug. She told us no, and that they were closed. We told her the website said they were open until 7PM and she responded that it was "an old website," and "we close at 6" (It was still at least 3 minutes until 6PM). She rolled her eyes, huffed and puffed, and unlocked the door to let us in. As we were greatly thanking her, she sarcastically responded, "I would love to get home and I know my family would absolutely love for me to come home too." While we are greatly appreciative that she let us buy the coffee mug (We were in and out of the store within 45 seconds), we did not appreciate the unnecessary attitude. We will not be returning and if you plan to visit this store, ensure they are open beforehand, to avoid being disappointed and encountering rude employees.

The store is so welcoming and amazingly decorated you almost have no choice but to check it out. It's like the best of Pinterest all landing in one store. You can find your dream home all within these four walls. I went online recently to do some perusing as I miss being in Sag Harbor right now and ended up purchased some items from their online store. All the items arrive in perfect condition with a hand written thank you note from the owners themselves, Matt & Natasha. It was like receiving a gift from old friends. What a great experience. When I am back in town, I will most definitely make an effort to visit MONC XIII again. The owners live locally and are a pleasure to interact with both in person and remotely. We're remodeling our home in Palo Alto and as tech new money have a substantial budget (AKA can spend plenty of money on decor). We browsed, respected all the no touching and sitting signs we saw, until we made a fatal mistake and decided to pick up a wood bowl. This was apparently a step too far for the woman managing the store and we were chased out for daring to put our dirty hands on her precious bowl. Even worse, she decided to shame us by letting us know how expensive it was. Now, I get it. It's a fragile bowl. Maybe put a sign on it, like 90% of the other items in the store, if you really don't want people to touch it. But, considering the way they treated the preppy white dude who entered at the same time, I have a suspicious as to why we were treated so poorly. If you're furnishing a museum dedicated to racism and shitty behavior, boy do I have a recommendation for you. Otherwise, hard pass. We walked into the store, which was empty. The unkept chubby store owner was sitting on her stool behind the counter. She never asked us if we needed help. She huffed and puffed got off her stool and showed us some jackets. When my mother said she doesn't need a jacket, she needs a blouse, the owners response was "then what am I bothering for??"
