Gao Fresh Noodles has a modern, Western-style atmosphere that feels trendy, but it doesn't quite deliver when it comes to authentic Vietnamese food. Prices are definitely on the higher side. Pho Ga: The broth had an unusual flavor that didn't resemble traditional pho. It also felt strange being asked to choose what type of noodles I wanted--authentic pho typically comes as is, without customization. Overall, the dish was pretty basic. Shrimp Basil Roll: The dominant flavor was just basil, and it was surprising (and disappointing) to see each roll individually wrapped in plastic wrap. That, along with the peanut sauce pre-packed in a to-go container, made it seem less than freshly prepared. Chicken & Shrimp Rice: My husband thought it was fine--nothing special, but not bad either. The odd part was that he wasn't given proper silverware, so he ended up eating rice with chopsticks. Passion Fruit Boba: Thankfully, this was the highlight. Refreshing, not overly sweet, and well-balanced. Overall, while the vibe is modernized, GFN feels very Westernized and misses the mark on authentic Vietnamese flavors. It wouldn't be my go-to spot when I'm craving Vietnamese food.

Vermicelli with chicken, egg rolls

Stopped by Gao noodle store which is located across a busy intersection @ Duluth/Johns Creek area. Huge seating inside (great for big groups as well). They are known for their Vietnamese pho. They also serve other rice, noodle dishes. We tried the vermicelli noodles with chicken. The order came with egg rolls and side sauce. The food is pretty good. But the portion felt small for the price. Fast service, plenty of parking in the complex.

This is my favorite Vietnamese eatery. The quality of food and service is always outstanding! The dishes I enjoy the most are the Sautéed Beef Vermicelli, Fried Chicken Egg Roll, Shrimp Basil Rolls, and Thai Boba Tea.

Very wonderful service and the layout and cleanliness was perfect. I told the server I was actually in a big time hurry bc I was at a work project and only had a quick time for lunch. They blew my mind how quickly they served my order and it was absolutely legit. Very good Fho!

This place makes some legit Vietnamese food! The pho dish was on point and the option for fresh noodles and fresh bean sprouts was certainly welcome and uniquely delicious! Prices are a bit on the high side but the food and quality made it all worth it. The service was friendly and the ambiance was comfortable, modern, and inviting. Highly recommended and 5 stars!

Tenderloin Pho #11

I've had my fair share of pho, and this might have just been my favorite bowl. I got the Tenderloin Pho #11 and it was fantastic. The in house special noodles are a bit thicker and I really like them. I don't know if I'd do it every time but it's a nice option for sure. Came with cilantro, Thai basil, jalapeños, bean sprouts and lime. Everything you need for a good bowl. The meat was incredibly tender and the broth was second to none IMO. The service was great, I ordered and within probably 3 minutes I had my delicious bowl of pho. The restaurant is pretty good size and I didn't have any issues getting a seat. Can't wait to go back.

#50 chicken shrimp vermicelli

Very good Vietnamese food in casual mall type location. Basic menu with chicken, pork belly, tofu or beef with pho soup, vermicelli, or rice. The menu is the QR scan kind. We ordered and the food came out super fast. We enjoyed the rocket shrimp appetizer 4pcs. #25 spicy beef noodle soup was good. Plenty of beef slices and meatballs. It was medium spicy. #45 sauteed beef rice was also good but we wish there was an option for double meat. In hindsight, they probably would have given more beef for a fee if we had asked but we did not think to because it wasn't listed on the menu. The vermicelli or rice dishes are served with fresh lettuce, pickled daikon-carrot, and the classic Nuoc Cham dipping sauce (made from fish sauce). #50 chicken shrimp vermicelli was tasty. Only the vermicelli dish was served with fresh cilantro - that and the sauce really made the dish. The milk tea boba had very fresh boba but was a little less sweet than Gongcha (which we prefer) but very good. This is the best we've had FOR THIS AREA so that is why we gave them 5 stars. Overall a solid choice and we would return.

tenderloin and beef shank

I am glad to find another Pho restaurant choice nearby, for a moment I thought it was a Chinese restaurant from its name. The service was courteous and menu is simple since there are only few choices for pho: chicken or beef, the soup base are the same. I had beef tenderloin and shank, fresh bean sprouts, this would be most typical pho choice. There is nothing much to say, all tasted good, except soap could be better. Average price is around $15 for pho, for simple pho, I would expect $12 for one, while inflation is everywhere.

Pho

I ordered a bowl of brisket pho (they only have one size) and new mung bean drink. The drink is so rich, creamy, and refreshing. Mung bean is very popular in Vietnam as it is known to make your skin glows and detox your body. I don't think any other place sell this drink which I have to come back before they run out. Back to the star- the broth is rich and savory, the brisket is tender, and the pho noodle is thin and soft. Taste the broth first and then add the herbs, the lime, and the sauces to enhance the flavor. Hoisin adds sweetness and balances spiciness of sriracha. Too much lime and sriracha can cause bitterness to the broth. If you are clean freak, you can ask to boil the bean sprouts (but no crunchiness after). The service is excellent; both the cashier and the waiter/waitress are attentive and friendly. Do come by on a rainy or cold day.

I was greeted immediately upon entering. The staff was attentive and kind. The food came out fast and tasted great! A nice and quiet environment, with good and relaxing music, great place to wind down while taking a break from the afternoon rush hour traffic.

Tendon pho

Solid place for a bowl of pho ($15). I asked for only tendon for my pho and they were able to accommodate that. There is only one size bowl to order. They also have different specials for the day of the week. You can check online for what the day's special is.

I stumbled upon Gao Noodles while at Whole Foods returning amazing packages. I get a text from my wife was "asking whats for dinner?" When in doubt, Pho is always a good option. I was ready to brave the trek to Duluth area as we usually do for asian food. But instead just google/yelp a restaurant. To my surprise, Gao Noodles popped up as a nearby option! I have to admit, I went in a bit skeptical (this area isn't exactly known for stellar pho), but this place was actually solid! At first glance the menu was like 2 pages with like 5 items or so on the pho section. The broth was lighter than what I'm used to, but it had a good, clean flavor that still hit the spot. Also this spot is toddler friendly, there was even a table next to us that was having a great time and my toddler was just staring and being entertained by them(shout out to them celebrating their daughter 14th bday). Back to Toddler friendly with high chairs and kiddos love noodles and soup! The menu isn't massive, but every dish we tried was on point. And the service was great, too--not something I expected going in. If you're in the area and craving Pho without dealing with the usual Duluth area and crowds, Gao Noodles is definitely worth a visit its located "duluth" but its really closer to Johns Creek right close by to Johns Creek H-mart!

Enjoyed the vermicelli with tofu that had SO much flavors! The service was great with the staffs being friendly. The place was clean and pretty spacious too!

I order beef pho. Meat has gamey taste. Broth is too cloudy and taste is not like used to be.

My favorite was definitely the Pork Chop Dry Pot! The pork was tender, the dish was well seasoned, and it wasn't overly spicy even though it looks quite spicy. The noodles were solid, would definitely order again. The Mapo Tofu was a little lacking in flavor in my opinion, but still a decent dish. All dishes came out in fairly large portions! I really wish I lived closer so that I could come more often - finding good chinese food in ATL is a little tough, so I'm so glad to have tried Hunan Garden. Prices are also very reasonable! The service is good! Usually chinese restaurants don't have the greatest service, but they were good about refilling our waters and not rushing us once we were done with our food. The food also came out pretty quick! Highly recommend!

Tried all the popular dishes and some weren't bad, but nothing jumped out as being worth trying again. One positive was the portion sizes were quite large for the price and in general is something I miss about dining in Georgia, so you definitely won't go hungry. The service was pretty disappointing. I'm not expecting top-notch at small spots like this but felt the staff was actually rather rude as opposed to just being purely inattentive. Overall it was an ok experience but given the abundance of Chinese-based restaurants in the area, probably won't be back anytime soon.

We decided to try Slurpin' Ramen Bar first. I had read that they originally started in California so I had a good feeling about it and I'm so glad we went! Their tonkotsu broth was probably the best I've had in the US. It was rich and full of flavor without feeling overly heavy. It was so good that we didn't want to leave any behind so we actually took the leftover broth with us for the 5-hour drive home (thankfully we had a cooler bag!). I immediately had to tell my son who's currently living in LA for college so he can visit one there too. This place is definitely going on our must-visit restaurant list from now on.

First, when you walk into the restaurant, it is very cute, has a bar for solo diners and booths incase you are in a group. The location is very cozy and the employees were great! Our server was very patient and had no problem explaining, re-explaining, and confirming with the chef if he wasn't 100% on an answer. I got a tofu rice bowl, which I typically don't get and it was delicious! I asked if the salad could be put on the side rather than in the bowl and was given a full side salad that I wound up mixing into my rice lol. I also added broccoli to the bowl, which I probably wouldn't do again because it was pretty bland, but overall the bowl was good. Now the vegan dumplings... were FANTASTIC! We shared the dumplings and everyone agreed that they were easily the best thing that we had eaten the whole day. The green color threw me off at first, but the crispiness and texture of the dumpling was amazing. I would love to go back and try the ramen to see how it measures up, but again, great experience. Also, when you are paying the check, they bring you a small bucket full of dum dum lollipops, which I thought was a great touch. Me and my adult guests all left like happy children, which is exactly how eating out should make you feel.
