I looked everywhere for some reasonable priced but full hanging baskets last year and found them here. They were so much more better value than anywhere else I had tried. As well as the usual plants, shrubs and flowers, there is a gift area. The gifts are very pretty and range from baby items, wooden crafted items, cards, ceramics and jewellery. They are quite expensive, but if you are looking for something a bit different to the usual high street stores then you might find something here. There is also a fantastic cafe and the food is gorgeous, with things like home made soup or jacket potatoes on the menu. You get loads for your money and the home made cakes are worth popping in for alone! There is plenty of free parking in the car park outside and customer toilets too.

The staff were extremely friendly and brilliant with the children. The cafe area was clean and bright with facilities to feed children and an area for them to play with toys. A good selection of food and drinks too. The children got to touch and hold a range of animals from ones with fur to ones with scales! They loved it. There is also a gift shop area too, and an undercover area with a slide for the kids. Would recommend a visit to everyone.

There were some hardcore Sunday shoppers here and rightly so this place is beautiful. Full on country side vibe with every possible flower and shrub imaginable! I got my trolley and causally stilled around the centre settling on buying some sunflowers and other really hard to pronounce types of flowers for my mom and dads front garden. I have no idea who named some of these varieties of flowers....but they went innnnn...I won't lie a lot of them I couldn't pronounce but I gave it a good go..with varying results.... The flowers here are super cheap too the sunflowers were like 1.50 each and most pots are below £3...bargains galore!! The only thing to note is the tills are busy...people are flocking for a wide for those bargain blooms so set out an afternoon for this trip it's definitely going to take you a a few to see everything and pay....but that's the vibe surely...loved it.

Being a bit fussy with a desire for a large tree with a root, to allow us to plant out after Christmas, I couldn't immediately find exactly what tree I wanted so Jim (the owner) suggested that I come back a bit later when it was quieter and he would cut me a selection of trees fresh from the field. Later that afternoon we were fortunate to be able to go into the field with Jim and his 'elves' to choose our very own Christmas tree my only advice would be to consider the height of the root plus the tree itself as we slightly overestimated the height of our lounge ceiling! Whilst there my five year old son took advantage of seeing Santa in his Grotto which he loved, and my wife brought some lovely Christmas tree decorations from their Festive Barn; we then had a quick visit to stroke Dorcas the donkey and the baby calves before leaving. The whole 'choosing our own Christmas tree' experience left me amazed as to how nice and helpful the staff of the farm were; as well as Jim and his family there were local villagers helping out at weekends, giving it a really personal and local feel. I'd definitely recommend the Grange Farm Christmas Barn to anyone and make sure to take the kids with you toothey'll love it!

The prices are competitive and they do daily delivery to St Albans (other areas have 2 days in the week for deliveries). The team in the Plant Information & Advice Centre are incredibly helpful and they have lots of free booklets to help with maintaining your garden (laying turf, planting trees etc.).

Chapmans is the best garden centre in the local area; there is a good variety of plants, shrubs and trees, which are reasonably priced and very healthy. The tree section in particular has a wide variety of plants, more impressive than most bigger garden centres. The members of staff are cheerful and helpful, and genuinely understand about the plants they are selling, which is a novelty for a garden centre! It also sells mainly plants and plant related products, rather than the myriad of 'tat' that most garden centres sell. The Topiary Tea Rooms is set in a small wooden building, but has a beautiful outlook onto a sun-soaked patio where wild birds feed very relaxing. They only serve drinks and cakes, but I would definitely recommend the cheese scones. As the weather steadily improves, I would heartily recommend Chapmans as a place to go to rejuvenate your garden.

If ever their is a problem with any plants there is never an issue with exchange, which I never had. Kevin is top guy, as is all the staff and their knowledge of all plants is so very helpful. Whenever we visit we always come away with some plant regardless of size, and most important for us, a great cup of tea / coffee and a lush scone or cake all home baked. What can I add " Well done staff and management at Chapmans " You won't be disappointed.
