I came here once with my family, and really enjoyed it. I don't pretend to be a golf expert, but I thought the course was quite good, and easy enough to walk around. There is also BBQ areas, a kiosk, and plenty of seating so you can really make a family day of it. It does tend to get pretty busy on the weekends, especially over the summer months.

Be careful though the depth of the couch can be a challenge to get out of. Pro shop well stocked with gear and extra balls at $1 a pop you can stack up on before you head out to the course where you will possibly leave 1 or 2 in a lake. A good choice of golf course if you're looking for a public one close to the Eastern burbs.

I've bought gear here and been very happy with their advice. Less pressure, cheaper, selective range of gear, and better advice than at many off course golf shops. I've played with, and equiped, my 2 younger teenage sons here. They appreciate the shorter, more technical course layout. A lesson from the Pro, Chris Staff, is totally helpful. Arlo's Cafe is the place for brunch, lunch, or a post game drink. You need to book (7 days in advance) as it can be busy. After 2pm weekdays all the tradies play but after 2pm on weekends is quiet. 9 holes takes 1.5-2hrs depending on time waiting for other groups. Look for the hidden convenience shed near the 6th tee. Take a few rough balls or buy some cheaply at the Pro-Shop as some will likely end up in the creek or in the dense rough and be lost forever. Big hitters need to take care on the front 9 holes, thus the course nicely equalises stronger and weaker players. Greens are slow but vary as with most public courses. The back 9 is more open and forgiving. A great place to walk the course if you're not a golfer. A real inner-city green escape. A real find.

Well, okay, I thought the kiosk was a little tacky, but once you get outside, well, it certainly ramps up its impressiveness. You can either play mini-golf, or go on the driving range, and since I have no interest in seeing how far I can hit a ball, we went to the mini-golf. I must admit, that it is hard, but it is also pretty fun as well. In fact, there are two options you can take as well, the one in the shade, and the not so shady one, which means that if you finish one, well, you can then go and do the other one. Set in an ideal location on the Maribyrnong River this nine hole course with all of it's extras is a great weekend hang out. I'm not a golfer although I don't mind tagging along and hitting a few balls at the range before having a stroll along the river and then having a cheeky glass of bubbly sipping the afternoon away. Morack Public Golf Course is a great place for a hit on the weekend (or weekday, if you're lucky…read moreenough to be able to do it), and it's really good to be able to get outside and pretend that I know what I'm doing every time I pick up a golf club. It's an 18 hole course, well kept (especially considering the drought-like conditions of the previous few years) and easy to get to, being just near the Bunnings on Burwood Hwy. There is a driving range near the clubhouse and shop (which is handy, as the old one was on the site that is now the aforementioned giant hardware monstrosity) and there is plenty of parking. Green fees are between $12 and $24, depending on when you play, how many holes you're playing and whether or not you're a junior. All in all, I find it a great way to give my friends an opportunity to mock my terrible golfing performance, and let's face it, if you need to get out of the house, Morack Public Golf Course is a great excuse for some exercise and a catch up with your mates.
