Visited this brunch spot with my girlfriends located inside Altisima Winery for Saturday brunch and I have to say - what a beautiful restaurant. We had a party of 5 which you don't need to make reservations for- it's more of a first come first serve experience, but with a party of 9 or more- you should definitely make reservations. It got busy very quickly, so glad we arrived 30 mins after they opened. We were seated immediately and chose to be inside vs. outside due to the hour wait for outdoor seating which overlooked the winery ( very beautiful) & it was too hot to be sitting outside anyways. We ordered a few tapas and one main entree. Started with the grilled octopus, fried calamari, bread and butter, heirloom tomato burrata salad & seared tuna sashimi & mussel pasta (a little too sweet for my taste). Everything we had was absolutely delicious! My favorite had to be the Heirloom tomato and burrata salad- I was surprised by the peaches in it! What a perfect summer salad! Everything came out hot and so fast even though they were extremely busy! I know we were at a winery & you would think we would order wine or something, but I saw an Espresso Martini with an Irish twist- I had to get one!! Which became two! It was so good and strong- it was actually perfect for brunch- It had somewhat of a sour but sweet taste- I think it was the Irish cream they use. If we didn't do the wine tasting afterwards- I'd order another one and call it a day! Also, Ally our server was so attentive and very friendly! It made our experience even better! My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant over the weekend and were really looking forward to the experience. When we arrived, we checked in with the hostess at the front (this past Saturday) and were told it would be about an hour and a half wait. We were fine with that and decided to stay. However, we noticed several tables remained empty and multiple groups who arrived after us were being seated ahead of us. After about an hour, I went to check in again with the hostess -- who, to my surprise, acted very rudely. She told me she didn't see our name on the list and asked to see the device I had checked in on. It appeared that she hadn't actually keyed in our reservation properly. Without much apology, she said, "I'll just seat you now." This experience was incredibly disappointing. Mistakes happen -- but the attitude and lack of accountability from the hostesses made it so much worse. If you're the face of the restaurant, customer service should be a top priority. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. On a positive note, once we were seated, our server was kind and attentive, and the food was enjoyable. But the way the front staff handled the situation left a really bad taste in our mouths. I hope the management takes the opportunity to address this -- first impressions matter, especially at a winery that positions itself as a premium destination. read more

We were told to come here for the view but the food was exceptional. Next time we will absolutely have a full meal here! Every dish we watched the wait staff walk by with looked better than the previous one! The smells were amazing. I loved our cheese board - I'm a huge truffle fan and the Merlot cheese was such a hit. We came on a Saturday to celebrate our anniversary and got a few glasses of wine and some apps. It was a very windy day but it was still nice to sit on the patio and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The wines were great and the appetizers were a good size. The flavors of the appetizers were good but the jamon Serrano could have used butter or cheese from the bread as it was a little dry! Oh how I love this winery! I was planning to bring my in-laws here with me but my niece's kid is an absolute terror and I did not want to be responsible for killing anyone's buzz on such a beautiful day...but I digress. Lol. The co-habby and I ended up going with a fave couple of ours to celebrate both of our 20th wedding anniversaries! Such a crazy coincidence that we all got married on the same exact day down to the year. And we are so glad we chose Altisima Winery for our twin anni double date. Note: Gaspar's Restaurant. They welcome guests on a first-come-first serve basis according to their website and we were the first ones to arrive. The young male host who initially sat us was a tad rude and tried to place us in a sunny spot but we wanted something with a bit more shade. He said "well, we're gonna be really busy today so let me check." Umm, first come first serve, no reservations? He sat us one table down like he was doing us a huge favor. No big deal but it kind of killed our vibe a bit. On a happier note, our server was absolutely awesome! He made some recommendations on wines, cocktails and appetizers/entrees. Everything was delectable and the libations were some of the best I've had out here in Temecula. We visit wineries every 2 months or so and want to try as many as possible. This winery is stunning. Absolutely beautiful. And that says alot as we've probably frequented about 15 wineries in the area. By far our favorite to date! There is a lovely outdoor area if you choose to nix the food and enjoy the wine tasting. Plenty of seats with an absolutely gorgeous view of wine country. Let's talk about the food and booze: Sangria Flight: we ordered 2 of these. So refreshing and tasty. My favorites were the Pomegranate, Mango and one that tasted like a Moscow Mule. Yum! Gaspar's Grilled Cheese: Jenny and I both ordered this one OH EM GEE, I need to order 10 more of these to take home! Grilled sourdough, jamon serrano, manchego & burrito. Made even better with parmesan truffle fries. 10 stars. Catalan Gambas: Shrimp in garlic confit with a spicy catalan sauce with crostini. The sauce was so good we told our server to not take it away so we could dip our fries in it. Lord Jeezus. Gaspar's Steak and Frites: the boys ordered this and were pretty darn happy with their entrees. Your choice of rib eye or filet mignon topped with chimichurri sauce. Divine. Churros: our amazing server gave us a complimentary dessert of fresh churros with cinnamon sugar and chocolate sauce, fresh, hot and crispy. Yes please and thank you! When I tell you I love this place, I mean it from the top of my head to the tips of toes. Thank you Altisima for making this such a wonderful experience for us. read more

Stellar food with a picturesque view! Visited Gaspar's Restaurant yesterday with my best friend for her belated birthday lunch. I didn't have the highest expectations as it is difficult to find a winery restaurant that has a good experience that matches the view and scenery. I was so pleasantly surprised! The property itself is stunning. A modern and elevated tasting room followed by a restaurant and patio of panoramic views of the De Portola wine trail-- there really isn't a bad view from any seat. We ordered the patatas bravas as an appetizer and it was delicious! The potatoes were well seasoned and perfectly soft inside with a crisp exterior. The saffron aioli was a perfect compliment to the potatoes, I wish I had more! For entrees we both opted for the California chicken sandwich. The chicken was juicy and flavorful complimented with a soft ciabatta bun and more of that delicious saffron aioli that added a lovely herb flavor to the sandwich. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. He recommended the cauliflower salad as a side that I opted for. It unfortunately didn't do much for me, didn't get the herbed flavor it described and it tasted as it sounds, cold roasted cauliflower. Overall, we had a great experience! The serrano jalapeno small plate was ok. Could have used a little more of the frosted bread. The baguette was good. Loved the butter and was $8 ok for a winery I guess. We ate those two items outside on the first come first serve lawn area while we waited for our table. We also got a frozen mango wine and the pomegranate one as well and both were good. We got seated and I ordered the grilled cheese and a friend ordered the burger (we split them as we wanted to try both) The grilled cheese was really yummy. Loved the cheese and it was grilled perfectly. The serrano inside was a perfect touch of flavor. I totally recommend this. The burger was also good. Cooked and seasoned well. The fries were perfectly crispy and they gave a good amount. My friend got the salmon burger and he liked it as well. We got the pistachio ice cream for dessert and it was totally worth it. My wife and I checked this place out yesterday, and we had a wonderful time. The view from the tables outside was beautiful and serene. The service was exceptional, and the food delicious. We were not too hungry so just shared some tapas, and that was perfect. The Grilled Octopus is the best I have had. I like grilled Octopus, but it's very hard to execute, but the server said they cook it slowly for 3 hours and then char it on a grill and it was very tender and flavorful. Our favorite dish though was the Patatas Bravas which were so delicious it was hard to stop eating them. They were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the sauce which went with it was rich and just slightly spicy which was great. We also had the Catalan Gambas and the shrimp were very large and cooked perfectly. The Burrata salad was our least favorite, but still good, but just not as well executed or as flavorful of a dish as we have had elsewhere. We enjoyed our meal with their award-winning Optimista White wine which went perfectly with our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially when looking for great food in a great outdoor setting. read more

Since we had no reservations, the wait for outside seating is 90 minutes but inside seating is available right away. Yay! The inside seating has great open views of the scenery so no big difference sitting inside. We ordered the charcuterie plate, burger and fries, steak salad, calamari, grilled octopus. The grilled octopus was so tender and flavorful! I got the White Merlot and loved this sweet wine with a fruity bright finish. This restaurant is inside Altisima winery. We ordered the gambas appetizer and the sauce was delicious, the shrimp tasted pretty fresh. We also got the chicken sandwich and it just tasted like a typical sandwich with bacon, avocado, tomato and lettuce. No special sauce or anything. If you order wine, the pour will be big. This restaurant was on the expensive side as the total was $78 before tip for two glasses of wine, chicken sandwich and one appetizer.
