No ambiance. Dark and dank. The food was not good and the wait staff was either Inattentive or surly. It took us three hours to complete the meal and it really messed up our night. Also -- this is odd -- no Coca Cola Light. I've traveled all across Europe and every restaurant sells Coca Cola Light (European name for Diet Coke). Not this place. Choose another restaurant.

I don't mind sitting with others in a communal setting, but I thought it was strange and a bit rude to be sat at a table meant for four with two other people who were at a different stage of their meal than me. For an appetizer I had the Hausgemachtes Würzfleisch in der Blätterteigpastete mit Sauce Hollandaise (Ragout fin in a pie crust with Hollandaise sauce, pictured) which flavorful and a good amount of food for an appetizer. For my main course, I had the Gebratene Flugentenkeule mit Apfelrotkohl und Thüringer Klößen (roast leg of duck with red cabbage and potato dumplings, pictured). The prices seemed reasonable for the amount of food I had. I've read other reviews about this restaurant which hinted that this was a touristy, crowded restaurant, but I didn't feel that way here. The service was decent for Germany, and the food was promptly brought to me.

The beer here is really excellent. Their Hausbier (pils) was very drinkable, probably the best drink I had in Erfurt. Followed this up with a potatoe beer (not quite sure how the potatoe is brought into the brewing process) which was also a nice drink. Decided to eat something and the dumpling was certainly a tasty way to soak up some beer.
