Ok so this is a bit of an unusual review as it does not focus on main dishes. My husband, my son,…read moreand I enjoyed a lovely dinner here after it being recommended by our host. I had a special - pasta with chanterelles that was on point but I especially want to highlight two edible supporting actors that stole the show.. First was the Weisskraut. This was a side that came my husband's pork. Now I grew up in a family with Central European heritage and know my way around some cabbage but this stuff was a revelation- clean tasting with a hint of horseradish. I could imagine eating it on toast with an egg. It would be outstanding. The second was dessert-Kiaserschmarren in Reindel. This light bready dessert contains just the right about of sweetness and is set off with raisins and roasted almonds. It is served with an intoxicating homemade plum sauce they may induce family feuds (it did with us). You need to order this ahead so plan accordingly. In a charming atmosphere, this is a must do when visiting historic Regensburg.

What a great German/ Bavarian local restaurant we stumbled upon! We found Dicker Mann down an…read morealley and it was all decorated with Christmas decorations we knew we needed to have dinner. We were asked if we had a reservation and we did not so we did sit at a community table which was fine shortly after we sat the restaurant did fill in with large groups. Our waitress was a very friendly and nice and spoke very good English, they also had an English menu, which was very helpful. I ordered the traditional pork schnitzel with German potato and cucumber, cold salad, and it was delicious crispy and tender. The potato and cucumber salad was tangy and very enjoyable. It also came with a side of cranberry relish that gave it a nice sweet bite. My guest had the chicken schnitzel and they enjoyed it as well. This one came with a side salad. Both portions were very large filling and for a great price. They did recommend a traditional baked dessert, but we knew that dinner was gonna be too much food. Everyone raves about the dessert that does take 45 minutes to bake so plan ahead. Would definitely go back to Dicker Mann android would recommend because you feel like one of the locals. The next day we ask our hotel front desk attendant what local German restaurant she would recommend and she said Dicker Mann as well.
