Just finished a wonderful stay at this gem of a hotel in an incredible location in Bautzen, a…read morewonderful town for a weekend getaway or a longer stay (so much to do in the area!) Our room was amazing (top floor, stunning views, very clean and spacious plus it was cheap too!) The team were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious - mostly local foods and a lot of homemade things like jams and mustard (which the town is famous for). We look forward to visiting again.

From the owner: Die Geschichte des Goldenen Adlers ... reicht bis zum Beginn…read moredes 14. Jahrhunderts zurück. Besitzer des heutigen "Goldenen Adlers" war zu jener Zeit der 1430 hingerichtete Stadtverräter und Stadtschreiber Peter Preischwitz. Kurze Zeit später ereilte den Bau der Feuertod als 1441 am Sonntag nach Maria Geburt Bautzen von einem Stadtbrand heimgesucht wurde. Gut 100 Jahre später wurde hier auf dem Hauptmarkt 4 ein Bierhof mit Schankrecht unter dem Namen "Goldener Adler" gegründet. Der Handelsherr Caspar Preuker, D. Franz von Görlitz und Hans Lochner besaßen das Haus ehe es spätestens 1607 Andreas Bernhard Lehmann gehörte. 1929 erwarb der Biergroßhändler Carl Heinlein das Haus am Markt. Der heutige Besitzer Achim Schreck und direkter Nachkomme der Familie Heinlein eröffnete dann 1995 nach mehrjähriger Bauphase das Hotel & Restaurant "Golderner Adler" erneut.
