At the Wirt you get good value for your money by Grünwald standards. Friendly and efficient service. Not to mention an atmosphere very fitting to Munich's suburbs: you could call it upscale modern-bavarian. Kids who clean their plates get to venture into the kitchen to scoop their own ice-cream for dessert . Plenty of off-street parking. The Wirt is my local go-to restaurant for an evening of casual fine-dining.

We sat in the immense beer garden which was populated with locals, their dogs, and their kids at the on-premises playground. It made for a very welcoming, authentic feeling. Service was very good and attentive. We sat for a few hours enjoying the sights and sounds and had a few rounds of beer and the moment we put an empty glass down, we were asked if we wanted more. The waitresses were all clad in traditional Bavarian drindles which was a bit cheesy but didn't feel forced. I don't recall the names of what we ordered and the special menu isn't on their site anymore, but everything was delicious. I got a steak that was covered in crunchy onions and came with some delicious fried potatoes on the side. My wife got the tafelspitz which was covered in fantastic gravy sauce. Weichandhof is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon or evening soaking in the atmosphere, some good traditional food, and some delicious beer.

We were walking and we ended up resting here for a bit before our final leg to Schäftlarn. The place is reasonably big with a gorgeous outdoor Biergarten. You can get a nice view of the Isar from here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We did not eat here so I cannot really rate the food. Most people were however eating and I overheard some comments from people who live in the area that the the food was good here. I would happily stop here again and perhaps have a meal next time. It's not a place you normally go to as it is further out from the city and, unless you have a car or you happen to be cycling / walking along the Isar you are not likely to get here.

The menu is large including even a vegetarian selection (which is rare in this part of the world). We enjoyed the food very much. Almost perfect. The pasta was a little too oily, but perhaps that is also a matter of personal taste. The place seems to be newly renovated. The whole set up is traditional, yet in a modern style basic version. If you are a tourist looking for a pretty restaurant with heads of dead animals lining the walls, this is not the place. They even gave wifi. Which is also rare. Like all other Bavarian restaurants I know, they don't except credit card payment. Toilets are very clean. Apparently Tuesdays schnitzels are only 10 euro. No music was playing and the acoustics of the place are not great, making it noisy quickly. Nevertheless 5 star.
