Our server took the time to advise us on local wines, recommend an off menu meal that was superb, suggest an excellent Turkish wine that we loved, and even bought us a shot of schnapps so we could end the meal like a good German. This was a highlight of our trip. If you want to try some Swabian food, this is your place. And to all you servers and hosts out there who take pity on customers who are out of our element and just trying to have fun; thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Oh it's the pork being pounded to schnitzel! We heard it throughout the night as orders were placed. All the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The wine and beer was excellent too. We also tried their seasonal soup. They have a fantastic wine selection. They even offer a tasting menu, which we did not have time for this day. Some highlights: the flaedlesuppe is amazing-- rich homemade beef broth and delicate flaedle and plenty of green onion. It isn't on the menu, but they always have it. The salad that comes with many entrees is very good--I have had many bad versions of this classic Swabian side salad (the one with potatoes, cucumber salad and other things with some lettuce on top)--but this one is excellent. The dressing is a nice mix of tangy and sweet and the kartoffelsalat is tangy and meaty (I think the potatoes are boiled in beef broth). Schweinefilet in a creamy and piquant pepper sauce is excellently seasoned and always tender. They also have a nice selection of salads if you're in the mood for something lighter. And the kase spaetzle-- just WOW. So much cheesy flavor, tender spaetzle and perfectly caramelized onions on top. It will ruin all other spaetzle-- I crave this stuff.
