After spending some time in the shopping district nearby, we were more than ready for dinner. We…read morewanted to try the Vienna classics- schnitzel and tafelspitz, and they offered them both here. Outdoor seating was unavailable due to the rain. We received a friendly greeting upon entering and even though we did not have a reservation, they managed to squeeze us in and seat us at a table before the reservation. Very nice.
We ordered :
Veal schnitzel- a couple of large slices
Veal thinly pounded, breaded and fried. Cranberry sauce was an extra Euro, but it was something to smear on top and give a little extra flavor. The dish came with a side a potato salad- thinly sliced cooked potatoes in a slightly sweet mayo
Tafelspitz- beautifully plated
Boiled beef topped with thinly sliced root vegetables, all in a broth. It came with an herbed pilaf of potatoes and two sauces- of which one I did not care for and a horseradish applesauce. The beef was nice, a little chewy in some places, but I did top with the applesauce to give it some more flavor. Loved the herbed pilaf of potatoes.
Good service, good food.
