Started our 24-hour stay in Berlin with a delicious and affordable dinner at this neighbourhood…read moregem, just around the corner from our hotel. We ordered the eggplant dip, spicy veal meatballs, vine leaves, and sardines (mis-translated as anchovies on the English-language menu).
Everything was delicious - the bread and salad so fresh, the fish beautifully presented and flavourful, the dip creamy and refreshing. Only thing wrong with the vine leaves is that we would have happily eaten more. (Actually, we would have been too full, but they tasted SO GOOD!)
Many Turkish clientele, which is always a good sign, and though our server spoke hardly any English, we managed the meal with no difficulty. We would absolutely eat there again, if only we were in town for longer! (Especially because we were so looking forward to the pistachio baclava, but in the end were too full to order it.)
