La Gratta is a bit off the beaten path, but it is Sunday and that means a lot of places are closed. We were very happy with our choice! I ordered Cordon Bleu with kroketten and hubby ordered Pfeffer steak with pommes. Both were huge portions! There was no way to eat this huge portions - largest we have seen in Europe! The waitress offered us foil to wrap our leftovers to go! Also a first for us in Europe! Very good, but go with a huge appetite or share a plate! Very quick service too!

After a quick search on Yelp I chose Corona. It was a great choice -- just what I was looking for -- a rather small Italian bistro, slightly upscale, perfect for a quiet, leisurely dinner on a Tuesday evening. We started with glasses of wine. There was a limited selection of wine by the glass on the menu. I opted for the Chianti and found it to be an average but serviceable table wine that complemented my meal just fine. I ordered Scampi Fra Divolo and my friend ordered Scampi in White Wine Sauce. Salad and bread service were included. The salad was a lightly dressed assortment of very fresh locally sourced greens. The bread was average -- but average bread in Europe is better than 90% of what we can get in the USA. My Diavolo was quite spicy but not over the top. The head on shrimp seemed fresh and they were properly cooked. I probably won't be back to Göppingen any time soon, but if I am I'd definitely eat at Corona again.
