I was introduced to this establish through a co-worker who happened to be in Bremen at the same time, and who has often gathered with his hometown friends to grab a pint and reminisce on all they have missed during their years apart. I felt welcomed by their company, as well as the staff and the local regulars who call this pub their home turf. There is a romantic, old world quality that I can't express, other than by saying the Spitzel Gebel feels familiar, even as a first time visitor. It feels like a community, even to a stranger. One might say I feel a sort of hybrid fernweh/heimweh (farsickness/homesickness) to return to this distance place where I felt like I was coming home.

She asked me for the money again and kept insisting we had received the drinks we paid for. I spoke in the best German I could (I am English but live in the area) and a local man at the bar tried to explain to her as well. However she kept repeating that we had received our drinks and avoided making eye contact with me. After several minutes of this my friend and I left. This soured our experience of what could be a delightful little pub and I doubt I will ever return. I advise anyone considering a drink in the area not to bother with this place, well definitely not if there is an elderly woman at the bar, and to always ensure you receive your drink before you pay for it.

Feldmann's is a relaxing cafe located on Schlacte street in Bremen, with a beautiful outdoor patio/beer-garden overlooking the lovely Weser River. I found Feldmann's to be the nicest and easiest place to stop by for an after-work beer (or two, if I was lucky) during my business trip. The people were friendly, and service was nice, and the view was beautiful. it was very relaxing to sit and sip, and to mangle the German language with mine terrible Deutsch!
