Our last night in Germany and I was feeling a little down, so I insisted on Tibetan food, because it is comfort food to me. This place was extremely affordable and we ended up with way more food than expected for not too much money. We got momos (of course!) and saag paneer. I loved the variety of momos available for order, we tried the veggie and lamb momos. They came with both the traditional tomato based sauce, and peanut sauce which was unexpected and tasty. I love peanut sauce! All in all, the flavors were a bit muted, and I would have liked them to "pop" a bit more. I definitely enjoyed the meal here, and if it were local to me I would be a regular for the momos. I really liked how this place has several intimate spaces in the back of the restaurant which are really lovely for sitting and chatting with friends/small groups. read more

Visiting my daughter in Berlin and she took my wife and I to dinner. We asked to try something new other than German food. She surprised us with this Tibet restaurant. This is our first time trying Tibet food and was pleasantly surprised! We ordered Himalaya Khasi Alu, Everest Mutton, Matsama Gai, and Mango Chicken and they were all delicious! Granted, I've never had Tibetan food before but this place was pretty awesome. We started with a plateful of lamb momos and a chicken dish which consisted of onions, tomatoes and chilis. I think it was number 421 under the chicken listings? It wasn't memorable at all and tasted like your basic Thai chicken dish. Anyway, the momo dumplings were delicious. Imagine Joe's Shanghai soup dumplings in NYC, but extremely savory and well, without the soup. It came on a jailhouse style serving platter with some kind of curry sauce; all in all, pretty tasty! You also get a side of the "salad" which looked like sauerkraut to me. The soup was amazing as well. So a 10 piece momo platter, a dish entree and two drinks = a little under 20€. This cozy little restaurant was recommened to us during our first stay in Kreuzberg. The food is delicious, plenty, and very cheap. The place itself might seem a little stuffed at first glance, but its totally comfortable. Once I've moved to Berlin in a couple of weeks, this is definitly going to beone of my favorite places! read more

I'm bummed out myself that I can only give 2 stars for my dining experience here. I spotted this place on my very first day in Berlin and always thought it looked very cute. However, it took more than 3 years to finally eat here. Walking in was just as nice as imagined as the place has a cosy and peaceful feel to it. My first surprise was that the house specialty "Momo" is NOT vegan, although a review I read before said so. The 2nd surprise concerns the 100% plant-base dishes I was excited to see on the menu... Turns out, only 2 out of 4 can be prepared vegan upon request. Well, good thing I asked. So finally I went for the Okra dish mainly because I always go for Okra when I see it on the menu. Okra with veggies and Nepalese spices to be exact, which came with the soup of the day (lentil soup, supposedly vegan and quite nice) and a side salad. I was very hungry and love Okra so I was very much looking forward to it - and equally disappointed as I saw and tasted that it was actually prepared with frozen veggies! The sauce itself was good but unfortunately spoiled by the overcooked tasteless things that used to be veggies once. When the waiter came to clear my table he asked if I enjoyed my food I said that I was disappointed to find frozen veggies in my dish but liked that sauce and think it would be really nice with fresh veggies. Apparently he wasn't expecting honest feedback as he just looked irritated and left without commenting. So to end on a positive note: the portion was quite big, I had a decent soup and enjoyed a nice atmosphere. Also the waitress who took my order was helpful and pointed out the previously stated not so vegan points. I'd like to think they just happened to run out of fresh veggies right before I walked in... But since I can't really convince myself of that thought, it was probably my first and last time eating here, which I find unfortunate... read more

I tried the plain old vegetable momos. They were served with 2 chutneys. The one in the smaller bowl is peanut butter chutney and the one in the large bowl is I don't know what. Peanut butter was smooth and yummy. The other was nothing special yet not bad. The salad was cabbage and carrots marinated in vinegar and sugar. It was crunchy, fresh and delicious. The red stuff was a chilly chutney. I would name it dynamite chutney. Truckloads of flavor, spice, aroma! It didn't come with the dish however but it is kept in innocent looking small jars on every table. And the star of the dish, the momos. Well steamed, well cooked. No overpowering flavors. Exactly how a momo should be. Went really well with all the accompaniments. I highly recommend them. They are EUR5 for 6 pieces. I had the Sherpa tea, which is basically normal Indian chai with ginger and cinnamon. Was good and only for EUR1.5. The food was really not good, it had no flavour. The mango curry seemed to come straight from a can. A waste of money and time.

Tibetan, Nepalese and Thai dishes are waiting to be tried out here. The prices are a bargain but the taste is great. Especially the vegetarian Nepalese Dishes are a joy for the taste buds you shouldn't miss. I strongly recommend the big Soups too who'll be always freshly prepared. Where else do you get a delicious hot meal for 3, 5EUR? Also many main dishes with a little soup and salad for 5EUR are a bargain. Among the Tibetan dishes I want to recommend the momos (steamed stuffed pastry). They take a little while to prepare but it's worth it. The service is friendly. In the kitchen you'll see mostly Thai housewives who get support from the Nepalese Owner. The homely, little Restaurant is decorated with Nepali Stuff and buddhist devotionalia. Often it is full to the brim. During summer season you can also sit outside. Who is looking for a good but very moderately priced restaurant in Kreuzberg for Asian dishes should give it a try. read more
