I do an opinion writing project with my 5th grade class every year about entomophagy (eating insects) and I rely on the Toy Store for the boxes of flavored crickets and larvae I offer to the brave kids who choose to try them. We've been coming here for a long time and my 16 year old and 2.5 year old still find fun things they want at every visit. We love the Toy Store! If you're looking to support local business and don't mind spending a bit more to do so, you have to check this place out. There's something for everyone.

Once upon a time I was the owner of a PlayStation one and over the years It got misplaced. I've been telling myself for a while to try to find a way to get another one but with new games and consoles being introduced all the time, I feared that I would never be able to find an original classic. When I googled play station one in search of trying to find places that sold them I was led to this place. I looked at the reviews and they seem to be a spot that a lot of people approved so I decided I'd give them a call. When I called them and told them that I was looking for an original PlayStation one, I was immediately surprised that they had it. Not only did they have it, the price that they were selling it for was extremely affordable especially in these days and times. But before I could commit to buying it I had one more question for them. The number one game that I love to play on the PlayStation one was Tekken 3, and when I asked them if they had that, they stated that they did. At that point I was sold and I came in the next day and purchased my PlayStation one and my game Tekken three. After receiving the game. I immediately came home and hooked it up and I noticed a problem right away when it took me five attempts to get the game to come on before it would. When I seen that it came on I was willing to forgive the five tries, until I turned off the game and went about my business and came back hours later to play again only to find that the Console would not come on at all. I decided that I was going to take the console back and demand either a replacement or a refund. When I arrived they were so friendly and helpful. They immediately discovered that the problem was the power cord to the game. They quickly issued me a new power cord and assured me that if there were any more problems they would be more than happy to fix it at no extra charge. I brought the cord home hooked it up and I have been in tekken land ever since. Now that I've talked about my experience I will talk about the layout of the store. They do have a lot of retro games. They do have Nintendo, the wii and all of the other games, but what I saw that I haven't ever seen before was they have a gaming room. Set up with gaming chairs, different sizes of TVs and they said they virtually have any game that you were interested in playing. You can pay a price to play for an hour, or half a day or all day. You can pay for snacks while you play games. Unfortunately they won't let you in the room unless you're going to play games in there but I did get a sneak peek as a kid came out to switch out games. This has become a popular hang out in the Topeka area and now I know why. I literally saw parents bringing their kids to this place and coming back to pick them up later. Maybe one day just out of curiosity I may go and play a game for an hour just to see what it's like. They also state that you can throw gaming parties. So if you are into classic games like me or you are a bona fide gamer this is definitely a place you want to check out

I am a pretty nostalgic person and I value a lot of things that are from my childhood in my younger…read moreyears and when I saw this place tucked away in a corner of Topeka, I just had to stop in. The moment I walk threw the door, incense hit my nose and I was completely taken back in time where music and the feel of the times of record players and dancing and hanging out with family overwhelmed me. They had original recordings of all of the historic artist from Roberta Flack to the Beatles. The Grateful Dead, Elvis, Carlos Santana the list goes on. I even spoke with the guy who worked the shop who gave me a history of the place and where I can actually purchase a record player. Seeing all of this brought me back to the sound of vinyl music that is missing today and I'm seriously considering purchasing a record player and being able to collect some of the albums that I grew up listening to. If you are a flower child or an 80s child or even a 60s civil rights or hippie child, this is the store for you. Some memories are worth keeping forever and this is one of those places that captures those memories. If you're ever into collecting priceless recordings of your favorite artist this is the way to go!!

Some of it seems like returned items, open-box, or delivery refused things with minor issues. But sometimes they over tape things to the extent you can't discover if the product in the container is whole or undamaged. There is also a lot of generic knock-off stuff, like dubious Apple accessories. Update: I wrote the review before going the same day and getting what turned out to be literally just trash for $5. The adapter I have uploaded a photo of, is a counterfeit that also doesn't even work. Making it trash. So be cautious, some of what they sell is counterfeit, and some of it is just stuff that belongs in the landfill. Overall though, there are usually great deals to find for the discerning bargain hunters.
