Maybe I'm not able to see the other reviews however if there aren't any then I'm shocked! In my…read morepersonal opinion, they are hands down the BEST attorneys you will ever find. They're on the pricey side yet you sometimes have to pay for what you get. They aren't like tv and movie lawyers that do ALL the work for you. Sometimes you have to do some research to provide to them and that's ok. Remember that although they make you feel as if you're their main client, you aren't, lol. They will focus solely on you while working on your case, just remember they have other clients as well and it's helpful to them if you can provide as much intel as possible. It's a team effort and believe me, you WANT them as part of your team. I truly cannot say enough praises towards them. The entire team, from reception all the way to the top! I'm sure I have gotten on Martha's nerves several times though she's never let me know lol, because when I get stressed I ask a ton of questions and I start to ramble without letting her speak. She has been direct, firm, but NEVER rude. Guiding me in a direct yet calming way. Times when I'm an emotional wreck and times when I'm in a calmed spirit. Showing me that she truly has our best interest in heart and definitely not in this only for money. She fights for what's best and what's right. And OMG, she's a force to be reckoned with in the courtroom. Very impressive. You do not want to be on the opposite side of her! And again, she does this for the love of the law and what's right. Not the almighty dollar, from what I've observed on many occasions. Something I find admirable in today's society. This is a law firm built on integrity and it shows. Recently I needed to call her in a panic trying to protect my youngest son. I didn't know she was walking out the door for court, yet she still took my call and answered my question quickly then informed me she couldn't talk to me anymore because she needed to drive to court. Of course in my panicked mind I felt blown off and a massive bother to her (in that blinded moment of mine) but that couldn't be furthest from the truth. She didn't have to take the call at all. I'm saying this to say, thats the type of lawyer and person she is. Even if she has literally one minute, she will give that minute to you. I 100% recommend this mother and son legal team and firm for all of your legal needs.

My wife had to have surgery, which was conducted at OrthoVirginia. Our insurance was slow to pay…read moreone bill, and that bill was turned over to the Gilliam Law Group for collections (with no notice or conversation from OrthoVirginia, but that's in another review). They, in turn, never contacted us about the balance. Our initial contact was a summons to appear in court. Again...not a letter, not a phone call, but a summons. The judge did actually listen when we explained that insurance was still reviewing it, and decided to allow us more time to resolve things with the insurance company. After conferring with the insurance company, we were told it would be paid and all was ok. Fast forward one year. I checked my checking and savings accounts, and saw that both were empty (despite having plenty of money earlier that day). After investigating, I discovered that the Gilliam Law Group had asked for our accounts to be frozen. Again, we were not notified at all. There was no bill, no phone call, no letter...we moved straight to garnishment. We now have had our accounts frozen for nearly a week, and have been told that our accounts will not be made available again for several more days (even though we paid the debt in full several days ago). This, by the way, is the first time this has ever happened to either of us. We are very diligent about paying our bills. I do not know why we received no notice from this organization before they took the extreme measure of freezing our assets, but I find the practice reprehensible. We literally cannot put gas in our car, buy groceries, or pay our bills because this firm couldn't be bothered to send a bill or make a phone call. The only saving grace is that we have friends who are willing to help us. I can only imagine how hard it would be for people who didn't have the ability to pay immediately...they'd be starving with no hope in sight. The prevailing attitude among the people at the firm has been that it's our fault, and that the fact that we went to court was our notice (despite that happening more than a year ago). Legally, I'm sure they are correct. Ethically, I find this disgusting and predatory. I'd be ashamed to work for this organization; I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that I was responsible for people not being able to even buy groceries because I froze their accounts with no notice. All my wife and I want is to be able to have a fair chance to pay our bills. That's all we ever wanted. Too bad the individuals at this law firm appear to have had a different agenda.

We reached out to him by email several times and despite what we thought was a severe and time-sensitive issue we were only getting a few sentences in response each time. Understandably, we were getting nervous as we had a deadline approaching quickly and, due to COVID-19, the situation was escalating. Eventually, we are told the lack of response was because we need a new retainer agreement. I was surprised as we were repeat clients and the other party was unchanged. Although we certainly never wanted or expected him to represent us without compensation and tried to proceed with that... trying to get this agreement situated was tedious as it was sent from an unknown address and went to spam. Phone calls were unanswered and not returned. Eventually (after our deadline) we were told we could meet with him Monday. At the end of the day we finally received a call only to be told we would not be able to speak with him until Wednesday. (Another week had passed and it's important to note this would only be a discussion on approach and not a response to our deadline.) As it turns out all these delays were because we had not sent a payment in by credit card. We tried, but again, phone calls are rarely answered and the email and website had no instructions for payment. Confused, we had mailed a check. When told we needed to make a payment by credit card, I offered to make a second payment and, again, there was no response. The receptionist, Katy McElroy, has been largely unresponsive, completely unapologetic and, quite frankly, rude throughout all of this... really, it is perplexing and disappointing as we were quite pleased with his service in the past but will now be looking elsewhere. At this point, I would not recommend him under any circumstances as we have missed our deadline as result of the chaos and confusion from his practice.
