We reside in a fantastic location (this doesn't escape me, we are super fortunate), but the threat of wildfires looms large, and gone are days where it's just a few-month issue, but a constant hazard throughout the year. I've already developed a comprehensive fire safety plan, but I believe expanding our DMZ firebreak, as it were, would be a prudent move all things considered (thx Gavin). While we take great pride in handling all the tasks ourselves around the property, I decided to call in some muscle (forestry equipment) in this instance for a day with Tope's Tree Service to see what they could accomplish. Their efforts exceeded my expectations, and I was a little like a kid by the dodgems wanting a go! After seeing what was there, a skid steer and a drum mulcher wouldn't have been effective with the terrain and the density of vegetation. I dare say I could have accomplished this task over a month or so with an ATV, chainsaw, chipper, Tickshield, and plenty of IvyX. However, the expertise of an experienced operator and the power of a specialized machine proved to be far more efficient and effective in just a single day. I recently had an emergency situation with a dead oak that fell across my road. I thought I was going to be blocked from my house for days but they were up within hours to address the issue. My mom has used them for trimming/treecare for a grove of trees in her yard and they look great. Overall a wonderful team of real professionals. I highly recommend! He texted me to let me know his crew was held up at a previous job and would be there about an hour after the expected time which worked perfect fro me because i had to go get the keys to move a car I had parked under the tree. His crew showed up. The foreman introduced himself to me and confirmed the work they were to be doing. He and his crew raised the tree skirt (lifted the crown) and thined out the number of branches. They grinded all the branches they cut down, cleaned up, and hauled everything away too. Just awesome. All done in just one hour! I will be using them for all my future needs as well. Thanks guys!

He also gave advice regarding "shock" to a tree if too much is removed at once. (This job was primarily to cut back trees along my property line, so that if these notoriously breakable Cypress tree limbs shattered in a storm, they would not fall on my neighbors' homes or fences.) He and his crew also provided excellent cleanup, with */no damage whatsoever/* to structures or fencing in VERY TIGHT work areas, with only 1 foot of clearance between the 30 inch diameter eucalyptus tree being trimmed and the fence: He didn't drop ANY limbs or branches onto the fence or the neighboring shrubs. His quote was fair and this job was difficult, due to the other part of it being Cypress trees that tend to split under wind load. I had had one "rush" job done the "La Niña" in 2021 by the only tree service available at the time (NOT his) and I am quite sure that A&A Tree Care would have charged 10 to 20% less for the same job. Also, he split the bill into two clear sections, so that the work on the eucalyptus tree, which was in the neighbors yard, was shown as a separate part of the estimate. This was important, as my neighbor had offered to pay for the trimming of that tree, where it was overhanging my fence and property line; the neighbors tree was a particular nuisance to me, as it was constantly dropping seeds and branches down into my trees and shrubs below. I began my own building contractor work at age 16 during high school summers and did my first arborist style of tree climbing on the tall straight, Jeffrey and Ponderosa Pines in the San Jacinto mountains in Southern California, so I know the hazards of the work and the difficulties of doing a trimming job in limited spaces. He didn't run his chainsaws or wood any longer than was absolutely necessary, as he said "Even though this noise level is permitted during the day, I don't want to disturb your neighbors anymore than I have to. I can't recommend him highly enough!
