For a small town restaurant - these folks do pretty good. Quite the wide range of items to choose from. Sandwiches, burgers, and all sorts of plates dinner options. Here's what we tried: - Buffalo fries: Never have seen these on a menu - fries with a heavy dose of Frank's Red Hot, melted cheese, fried chicken pieces and green onions. I'd easily get this again, as it was an unusual good combo! Meatloaf: hey, the meatloaf was a very good meatloaf. Trust me, it tastes better than it looks.....it was quite good...just could use a better topper sauce. Gizzards: a great tasting fry exterior. This place cooked them nicely. So many places over cook them - but not this place. Sides: they're all generally ok level of taste. Salt and pepper is on the table for a reason. You'll need to use it on the sides. This place is a fairly good place to dine for country/comfort food items. The place is clean as a whistle...all newly built...and the best bathroom I've ever seen in a country diner!

$18.37 for this is crazy ! Very disappointed the toast is extra lmao you would think it would be apart of the meal but nope mid-town cafe has better portions and better prices!

Do a U-turn if you miss this restaurant on the side of the road! We did! What a great place to eat!!! Super clean, friendly staff, great prices, large portions, and time to get food was very reasonable. Food was delicious! Ignore all comments over 9 months-they just reopened 9 months ago after it burned down.

Arrived around 1p on a Saturday for lunch and were greeted upon walking through door. Seated quickly and asked for drink orders which were served immediately. Soon after waitress took our order and we were eating lunch within 10 minutes of arrival. Husband requested Fried Shrimp dinner which comes with side salad, fries and corn. Side salad rated an ok, Fried Shrimp a good, corn well, what can you say for canned corn and he choose Onion Rings (up charge) not fries. Onion Rings were some of the best found around this area and a nice surprise. I requested Chicken Fried Chicken Sandwich with Fries (up charge) not chips. My chicken sandwich was very good and I cut the chicken in half and now have lunch for work. Fries were fries. We will be back again for other meals from Gateway Cafe when we are over this way!

Good home cooked type food at an OK price. I live close and probably eat here a couple times a month.

Excellent lake-bound stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Burgers are great, as is the club. Awesome fried chicken. Friendly staff.

First time here, good first impression…read more.. Stopped in for a bite to eat on a Friday night on the way home from Branson. Place was honestly pretty quite which was a surprise for a Friday night at 8:00. Ordered the queso with added ground beef for an appetizer. The dip was fantastic! Although the chips served with it were extremely salty. For entree I ordered the sirloin cooked med/rare. It was presented to me closer to medium, but delicious nonetheless, and it was a very thick cut, every bit of 2 inches. The loaded mashed potatoes were good, but slightly underwhelming, and the fries were great. Wife got the burger. She said it was really good, and the kids enjoyed their meals as well. Popcorn shrimp and "homemade" penne mac n cheese, but noted that the sauce was peppery. Not spicy, but had an overwhelming peppercorn taste. Service was fast and attentive. Again, first time here. I had never heard of them before this day but the food gave me a TGI Fridays vibe. This is a good thing IMO. I will definetly be back!

We went mid Sunday one week and it was slower. Server was polite and well informed. Boyfriend had…read morethe Tavern Chicken Sandwich. He said it was good except the sauce was very juicy and made the bun a bit soggy. I had the Chicken Ranch Alfredo. It's my weakness, it was delicious as always. We tried the buffalo chicken wontons, decent but we definitely like the chicken dip much better.

First of all, if you go in to this place expecting a brewery, like I did, then you will be very…read moredisappointed. This is not a brewery. This is a bar that happens to sell beer made by someone like a home brewer. And not good beer at that. They have 4 options to pick from. We tried the fancy water and the Irish red. Both were extremely flat. I haven't had a flat beer in a while but that certainly affects the taste of the beer that should have a bit of foam on the top and these didn't have any. Second both beers were absolutely disgusting. If we didn't order food, this would be a 1 star review based on the horrible beer and Coyote Ugly type decor that doesn't match what an actual brewery should look like. It was smelly (like cigarettes) and weirdly uncomfortable. I go to bars often but this one caught me off guard since I was expecting a brewery type experience. The second star is from the food. They have some typical bar food and we got a variety of dishes. We got chili cheese fries that were amazing, fried green beans that were yummy served with a thick ranch dressing, the hot dog wrapped in cream cheese and a tortilla and fried and the chili dog. The food was all really good, however it didn't outweigh the horrible beers. I visit the Springfield area often but I doubt I will ever be back to this place.
