My previous dental office of 30 years changed owners and doesn't take my new insurance. Had to try a new dental office with much apprehension. So very happy to say I was NOT disappointed! What an AWESOME experience! The customer service was SUPERIOR from the moment i walked in the door all the way up to when I left. Every staff member was extremely friendly and PROFESSIONAL. Everything was explained to me so CLEAR and in full detail, not to mention I was given options! The technology is up-to-date, and all paperwork is virtually paperless!!You get to view all your dental records on a screen that is attached to the dental chair, then the staff will ask you to select a DVD from a list and put it on while you are having work done. My husband came here a while back to get a check up and they told him that he needed a deep clean and to get some cavities filled. I thought it sounded fishy because he always had great teeth, never had bleeding or gingivitis. So instead, we went somewhere else to get a second opinion and found out that he did not need a deep clean nor did he have any cavities! I could not believe it! Also, unnecessary deep cleaning can actually be bad for you. This place will just make up whatever they can to steal your hard earned money! And they are waaay overpriced! First i want to thank everyone at Gateway Dental. I am terrified of the dentist from bad experiences i have had since childhood. Dr John was calm and had great bed side manners.He helped me develop a treatment plan that worked for me. He was extremely patient and helped me face my fears. I will continue to trust and continue coming to see Dr John. I stopped coming a couple of years ago due to the Old Dr not having good bed side manners and making me feel bad about my dental problems. I've been here many times to get different procedures, so have my family members. They are amazing. They have a lot of modern technology and know how to handle a variety of different situations. I am diabetic, for example, and that comes with some complications when you get dental surgery and get put to sleep and stuff. They knew exactly how to handle it and had plans in place to make sure I was safe. They also always monitor my blood pressure, which can be an issue and knew how to handle my intense fear of dentistry. They listen, they answer questions, they are helpful. I trust them. That's why I hired them to pull my teeth and give me dentures when I needed it and I've been very happy with the procedure ever since. read more

Nice people, hence the 2 stars......but went in for a checkup, was there a total of 40 minutes (a solid 8 minutes with the actual Dentist) before they tried to hit me with the old Deep Cleaning scam. For $480. After insurance. The actual total was over $2600, lmao. And then they didn't even have time to do a regular cleaning, because they "assumed" I'd want the $500 deep cleaning. I'm not sure why they have appointment times. Every time you show up for an appointment they are running behind anywhere from 30 minutes to an 1 hour. On one occasion they were so busy and running so far behind they had to reschedule my appointment.  So it's clear, this is not a one time/singular incident. It's happened at least 4 times with me and an equal amount with my spouse.  Is the wait worth it? The cleaning is on par with other dentists I've been to; nothing better, nothing worse. That said, the dentist and staff are very nice. So nice, that I tend to give them a pass on the wait. They did apologize for the wait and explained why they were so behind, which I appreciate. They also ended up adding fluoride and periodontal rinse at no charge due to the wait. Though they did originally try to upcharge me with these items when I checked in. I wasn't asked if I wanted these extras, or told why I would need them.  If they would improve their scheduling to avoid wait times, I'd give them 5 stars. If I could give negative stars, I would. Dr. John did a really bad job and when I went to complain and see if he would fix it, he basically tried to tell me it was my fault and I should pay out of pocket for him to redo it. Total crooks! This place needs to be shut down and investigated. This office should be called Chamber of Horrors! Looks nice from the outside, but once you enter, your experience will be unprofessional and a huge mistake from the office staff to the independent contractor oral surgeons! The Oral surgeon that was going to work on me had a chip on his shoulder full of attitude towards me, because, as I was signing all the paperwork before he worked on me I asked if he was insured/ licencef being he was an independent contractor with Gateway, and Gateway was not responsible for his work or any wrong doing. We patients have that right to ask questions, some Dr.'s continue working sometimes if their license expires or are uninsured. Its true, I've experienced this before @ SmileCare Riverside. Bottom line..He came in, introduced himself etc. I said hi, and directly said to him "If I feel extreme pain, you stop"! I noticed he didn't like what I told him, but I told him this because I could hear crys and screams of a young girl next door for about 15 minutes non stop. *Parents never leave your children alone there in those back rooms where they perform the work on them, they're helpless and you can't hear their pain and horrific experience* Long and short.. all the shots he gave me, didn't numb me enough. Than he attempted to force more shots without giving me notice which I got mad and upset with him. He then flipped out and unprofessionally started yelling he couldn't work on me I needed to be sedated and couldnt work on me and stormed out. The assistant that attended me at the time was comforting and kind towards me, but out of nowhere came in another male assistant and started laughing at the situation. I told him to shut up, it wasn't comedy hour! As I was leaving the room upset over the entire experience, he then told me in a condescending voice "Have a nice day" to annoy me and provoke the situation even worse. I turned to him and told him his behavior was unprofessional and what he was saying was now disrespectful and mean, he wanted the last word! Office manager took to back office, to calm me and talk so patients wouldnt see what was going. Her help was useless,insincere and fake! Beware! Running a scam, tell you that you need deep cleaning when you do not. They want you to pay so much out of pocket. We have insurance everything that was recommended was NOT covered (Told my husband he has bone loss, gingivitis and periodontal disease, when 6 months ago at previous dentist was told teeth were in great shape). We have been going to our previous dentist for YEARS and never had an issue. We relocated to Riverside, only reason a we needed a new dentist. Read reviews, and go to a practice that cares about your teeth. Old fashioned dentists are so hard to find now! Update: Insurance company called office and told to email in x-rays so they could be reviewed by specialist to confirm diagnoses. Update: my husband and I decided to stop going to this dental office. On top of the lack of customer service from the front desk, my husband called Monday to cancel his cleaning appt for today (Wednesday) and though he spoke to a live person, he got a call today asking why he missed his appt. We did like the dentists and the dental hygienist, so customer service is not an issue there!!! Another reason we decided to leave was financial, and I'm posting this since many others have complained about being over charged by this facility. We never understood why we had to pay for our bi-yearly cleaning, when our insurance covers cleanings. We never got an explaintation as to why, just that this is what we were left to pay after insurance. For us, we learned this dental provider though they accept our dental insurance, they are not in our "network" so they can charge us more than what the insurance provides. Basically, gateway dental gets the money my dental insurance provides for my bi-yearly cleanings.... And then basically double dips and gets money from me too. I can't speak for everyone, that's is just our experience with insurance at this facility. read more

I was told I needed a crown or onlay which costs over $1000 and I don't have dental insurance but I got a second opinion from a trusted dentist come to find out I DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TOOTH. First time I came here it was fire 30$ promotional teeth cleaning, they talked me into getting a deep cleaning because i had not been to a dentist in over a year. I was young and naive. Bill came too closely 415. At the time I did not know better. So I got the deep cleaning. (this was a few years ago) last time I was there it was for a cleaning. I did mention to them that I was having pain from my wisdom teeth. They forgot about the cleaning and did some x rays for my wisdom teeth. I was looking to get them extracted that week since I would be on vacation, and from what I hear you need at last two or three days for the swelling to go down. I was then told "our oral surgeon come in once a month, if you can't make it then we can try for next month." They are expensive, they do tell you to get unnecessary procedures, and they are not flexible to their patients schedules. I've gone three months trying to see if my day off coincides with their oral surgeons day that he/she comes in. I'm done waiting and only getting pain killers from them is not doing anything.I'm going to a new dentist. Service/staff: 6. When you are there they treat you great.but over the phone, don't expect any call backs about inquiries you make. They do talk somewhat down to you if you have one cavity, making you feel bad about yourself.wait time with appointment about 15 min, ok. Treatment of initial problem: 7. They do a good job taking care of what you came in for. Convenience: 3. If you need something big done (extractions). A 8 if you ONLY need a cleaning or braces. Recommendation: if all you need is a cleaning come here. If you need extractions, implants or something that requires surgery go somewhere else. Or schedule your next month on one day that may even be an inconvenience for you, I'm order to see the oral surgeon. Hope this helps. read more

Hate giving bad reviews but not really happy with this place anymore. First started going here and it was a 5 Star. Everything was great from making appointments until the appointment was over. Now they tell you your appt is one time but when you get there it's a 1/2hr later, wait forever, then it took 1 1/2 -2 hours to X-ray and clean teeth. Ridiculous. read more

I recently went here to have some much needed work done on my teeth. The office was warm and welcoming which really helped me as dentist visits in general are something I fear. Dr. Ajayi and Dr. John took wonderful care of me the whole way through and were patient and tentative to all my needs. Tawny, Claudia and Anna were all so wonderful and kind to me as well. The entire time I was taken very well care of. The whole team came to check on me and made sure I was feeling alright and they all gave me words of encouragement as I was nervous. I've been going here for years and highly recommend them. Dr. To and her staff are very nice and accommodating. Last time I had a Porcelain onlay completed in the same day and didn't have to come back or wear a temporary. That was pretty cool! Their cleanings are very good and thorough, they always floss me after every cleaning. The assistants and front staff are very friendly and professional. Dr. To is an excellent dentist. She very honest and trustworthy. She treats you as a family member and you can tell she genuinely loves her job and cares a lot about her patient! I originally got some work done here around 2014 i then moved away and needed more work done. I drove 45 min. in 2021 just to make sure I kept on getting amazing treatment. I strongly recommend Dr John and Katrina as they had made me feel extremely comfortable and kept reassuring me that they are going to take great care of me and make me feel as comfortable as possible, especially after letting them know I was traumatized as a kid and now have a phobia of dental work. DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST...... I have made 6 or more (I lost track) visits to get a set of dentures and each time they are wrong. After the last visit I told them if they couldn't get it right I wanted my money back. So today I went for another visit and again the dentures were wrong (the top and bottom gums were different colors and they tried to tell me that was OK - expletive deleted)... When I requested my money back they told me they would need to charge me "chair time" - what about all the time I waited for they to see me, was given a defective product, and then had to come back again and again..... Went to see Dr. John and staff at Gateway Dental Group Riverside after a different dental office installed my bridge incorrectly. I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in, but their professionalism and friendliness eased my mind. What an amazing team! From explaining everything involved in the process to ensuring there was absolutely no discomfort while undergoing the procedure(s), this dental office is the absolute best! During this journey, I had two crowns, one root canal, and an implant done (as well as remove the bad bridge).
